Order to delivery time

It's just a shame this is happening.

I agree with you 100%.

The supply cannot meet the demand that’s the bottom line. They made a gorgeous truck that has a distinct look that has all the tech of a 90k Mercedes, Audi and BMW for half the price. The car is the most sought after vehicle in the country right now and the dealerships see a way to make money and are taking advantage of it.

If I owned a dealership I would do the same thing. You own a business to make money it’s not their fault that Kia killed the game with this truck.

Short term thinking like gouging customers is a quick win that will lead to a long term failure. When my order comes in, if I get gouged, I walk and Kia as a brand will be off the list forever!
Kia needs to do something about the dealer channel - they are going to turn this success into a long term nightmare if this keeps up. Why would I find a car at a different dealer when I know I need to go to the gouging dealer(s) for service and post sales support, which is generally more profitable than the initial sale. NO WAY!!!!

Hello Everyone, new to the group. I went Saturday, November 2nd, to test drive SX AWD Prestige. I was going to buy that day until I learned that they were going to add "Market Adjustment" of $8000 to the MSRP. I was a little shocked. At any rate, if I order the same exact model, feature, etc it would not have the "Market Adjustment", so I elected to order one. Then they said they could reduce the "Market Adjustment" to $2000. I still said no, lets order it and paid my $2000 deposit. If they would have removed it completely I would have purchased it that day. Now, after readying some of these posts I am very concerned on when I will actually get it! haha.... The dealer told me 4-6 weeks. I highly doubt if that will happen provided what I am reading. All we can hope for is that production picks up.
Go get your deposit back and order from Jason on here. The shipping will not be 2 grand. If the dealer told you 4-6 weeks no way he can get the car you ordered unless he had that car already ordered. The wait is well worth the car. I waited 96 days for mine that I ordered back in March. Anyway good luck on getting your new ride

I ordered an SXP on Sept. 30 w/ no feedback yet.
I didn't hear anything from the dealership. I expect that the wait will be longer (based on what I'm seeing on this forum) with the Prestige package. I actually guessed about when my SX would be at the dealership based on the spreadsheet that comes out once a month on this forum. I saw one listed with a VIN of 10/18 that matched what I ordered and figured it would be about 3 more weeks. Of course I didn't know for sure, but it ended up being the case.

Where is this spreadsheet you speak of?

I have now made a available my database as a read-only Google Sheet. Anyone can now search/filter any information they need. This Google Sheet contains all produced VINs window sticker for the Telluride until October 31, 2019.

The dealership that I ordered my SXP from is the dealership I picked my SXP up from last night. Aug 3 we did ALL paperwork from bank to trade in appraisal and no one told me anything about a markup and when everything was done I was hit with it. The dealership said that price given to me Aug 3rd is non contractual and is subject to change.

5 dealerships in my area are all marked up from 6-12k in NY just north of Manhattan. No one in my neck of the woods is getting a ordered SXP let alone an SXP for MSRP.

I have dealt with more then a handful of dealerships in the past 3 months NY, NJ and CT and everyone has given me basically the same information.
$8000 mark up here in TX. The dealership had the very one I wanted on the lot but would not come down. Instead I had to order the same car to get a reasonable price. Kind of crazy.

I am going to be honest with you I highly doubt they will honor your MSRP price if your car comes in. The demand for SXPs is through the roof. Well that’s if you ordered a SXP.

I wish you all of the best with your mission on getting your Telly!

I feel you, but in all honesty this isn’t the 60’s anymore where dealerships sold cars to the residents of their community and customer service was the only way to have a successful dealership. Of all the cars I’ve bought I 90% never went back to that dealership ever again and went to another dealership closer for service or warranty stuff.

That Kia dealership that shows you that markup doesn’t give a flying F about you walking out the door when the demand is so high they know another person who has been waiting months will come in buy what you passed on in a heartbeat. I watched it happen as I was leaving the 10k markup dealership from 2 weeks ago. Guy walked in while I was just finishing up with saying no and said I will take it. Said he ordered the same SXP in March and doesn’t care about the 10k.

These dealerships are privately owned and can do what they want. Kia needs them to push their product and they aren’t going to penalize a dealership that’s making them money.

What is reasonable?

The configuration I ordered is popping up as dealer allocated models like crazy right now (black copper, dune, SXP, some with tow and some without) - maybe I’ll get a surprise call soon...

For $48k the Telluride is a steal. For $58k it is just another SUV. I can’t fathom people paying above sticker for this car. It just doesn’t make sense when there are other equivalent cars that sell so much below their MSRP.

Really pisses me off when dealers are saying... Well the Telluride is underpriced and you'd be paying $ for its competitor. So mark it up to put it in your box of approved pricing? Furthest thing from what KIA wanted.

Where are you in TX? What dealership did you visit?

For 58K I get an Audi Q7. Drive and engine are far superior - tech, reliability and service costs are the downside.

What Joey said about people being willing to pay above MSRP is what it is. Same with dealerships -- many (most?) will hold out for top dollar. So far the dealership I've dealt with has been above board on price (MSRP). I'll find out for sure tomorrow (it hadn't been inspected, so it remains to be seen). Having dealt with them on another purchase, I'm not particularly worried. Again, we'll see. It seems I was fortunate in that I didn't want to spend another $4k for AWD/Prestige and therefore had a shorter wait. If I could have gotten Prestige without AWD, I would have likely opted for that, but not if it meant months of waiting. (Nothing against those who want the Prestige package! I'd just rather have the 4k than the extra options). I contacted a few dealers who were marking the vehicles up. I just couldn't bring myself to pay more. Honestly, at MSRP it's more than I've spent on a vehicle. 😬

While I recognize that money seems to make (most) of the world go round, it's nice to know that there are those out there -- like Jason Fox -- who won't take advantage. And for those who give their time to run this forum ... and Michel who takes the time to do the spreadsheet (which is totally amazing, by the way) -- thank you.
