Order to delivery time

Spoke to a few dealers and they stated it will be a 3 month wait time to fulfill orders. So they are taking orders just it will take a while to get them.

It is a new car and very popular. I am not sure why you would consider a new car that is popular if you are not planning to wait for it?

I was told by a dealer I could not order. I was told by a dealer that kia is telling them to sell over MSRP to get the stock up. I was told by a dealer that the warranty covers bumper to bumper.

In the real world, most factory orders will take 6-8 weeks minimum. 8-14 weeks is not uncommon especially for rare cars. The average is 8 weeks on new models, 6 weeks on older models.

But that assumes that there is no production holdups, like a bad batch of windows or union strike.

Getting a little concerned not a lot of updates in this thread. Seems like a lot of early March orders in here too meaning were about 5-6 weeks in.

I just placed my order on Tuesday, and the dealer did not imply it was any problems. I will update next week if I get a confirmation that Kia has accepted.

Quick update - Got a call from the dealership - with no news. Ordered March 5th and they say they have no eta. I was their very first order as well. Seems odd since it seems like a lot of people at least have an estimate but alas the wait continues...

I believe it may have to do with the higher volume dealers receiving inventory quicker than others, I was told by a high volume dealer they will receive vehicles faster since they have a higher turnover rate.

Deposit given 4/05/19

No update as of a week later. Dealer supposedly submitted the order but I have not been given a vin or anything that is solid kind of in limbo land not sure if I'm being played or if there ordering process is just this bad.

I think it is just that bad. To be fair each system is different, but in most car ordering cases, you don't get a vin number until it is almost ready to ship. If you get a vin number early in the process it means an unclaimed car on the line got assigned to you. If you did not get a vin, it means that a car that meets your description has not made it far enough down the lane to get a vin number. But all that being said, I think there is a lot of really clueless when it comes to custom orders.

The only thing I can tell you is your dealer wants to make money. A custom order is just a bonus for them, they have zero reason to mess it up.
