I ordered in December 2019 and my order just got picked up in KFOS in mid-August 2020. My delivery is mid November 2020. It all depends on how many orders are in front of you, with your dealer.

So I ordered my Telluride on 10/10/20 as the dealership I’m going through are not getting a Black AWD SXP NF as I can see on failcat. The guy at the dealership didn’t seem like he liked the idea of us ordering our ride and kept trying to get us to buy the one that we test drove, but it was a black EX. I called today just to see how many orders are ahead of us and his comment was there was one other order with ours and “I wish they would stop taking orders and people would just buy what we have stock!” I said something to my hubby about this and he agrees he felt the guy didn’t want us to order the car and wanted us to take something they already had. I’m okay with waiting the 6 months he said it would take to get the car as I’m in a lease and have 6 months left on it. When I spoke to him today he never said if the order was placed or entered into the system and I’m feeling a little uneasy about it. I don’t want him to d*ck us over and not place our order and we then have to settle. My hubby is going to call them tomorrow and speak to the manager, but what is the big deal about placing the order? Why is it this serious? I don’t understand.

It is. Like I feel like he is telling us it’s going to be 6 months wait just hoping we would cave in and buy what they have. It’s only 2 orders and they have no Telly’s on their lot with 8 coming in...that doesn’t makes sense to me

I would move on to another dealer. Let him know he's not going to get a sale off the lot OR the order. People should get exactly what they want if they are spending $45k - $50k on a car. I'd hate for your lease to be up and then you find out he never ordered the car.

I went through two separate dealers prior to my third, which I'm expecting delivery from this week. For both of the first two dealers, I ordered the exact vehicle I want, at MSRP, and placed a $500 refundable deposit.

Dealer #1 who is closest to me was friendly enough and offered a printed copy of the order form as well as a receipt for my deposit. I was a bit nervous as the associate I was working with was clearly new to the job and possibly to any job. They wouldn't state a timeline shorter than 6 - 9 months. In subsequent calls to the dealer to check on order status, such as whether or not they had placed an order yet with Kia and where I was in line, I couldn't get a straight answer. I got a manager on one call and she was cold and seemed annoyed about my call, simply saying that it's 6 - 9 months.

About a week later I decided to hedge my bet with an order with Dealer #2, within 45 minutes of me. Same deal of MSRP and $500 refundable deposit. This order was done over the phone after seeing a post by one of the reps at the dealer on this forum. I placed the order over the phone, gave them my credit card, and literally never heard from them again. Nothing. No email confirmation. No text. Nothing. I did call and follow up to confirm the order and inquire about timing, and got confirmation of the order deposit (and saw my CC statement), but didn't get any specifics on where I was in their queue.

After both of these I started going back to Failcat + dealer calls, which I'd already done about a dozen of. On one of these calls, I found a dealer about 5hrs away that has my exact car (plus two options i don't really care about, but am okay with) that someone just changed their mind on. I found out about this after chatting with him for a little bit, and mentioning this forum and seeing his name, at which point he revealed this car was coming available. During the process of confirming the incoming car matched my spec, I learned that Dealer #1 had screwed up and actually ordered me a NE car, which is not what I wanted. Man, I would have been BUMMED waiting 6 months for that.

I cancelled both my orders, got my refunds, and put a deposit on the Dealer #3 vehicle. I received immediate follow up via text with order confirmations, and have had numerous back and forths since as we've been tracking the vehicle timeline. I'm expecting delivery this Thursday 10/22, but will see.... My plan is to catch a short flight and drive the car back, full PPE for the trip down.

@Ladybug1, find another dealer. there are many fish in the sea, and it's too big of a purchase to not get excellent service.

Multiple red flags from what you stated... The particular sales person you have may have no interest in staying at that location for a long time so may just want to sell what is in stock..

I would request to speak to a manager and then if things work out with the manager ask the manager to assign your order to another sales consultant that will communicate well.

If you feel the manager is dodging questions or get a bad vibe... then its time to find a different location.

You are at the beginning stages so pull the plug now if you dont feel comfortable with that location before you invest time and energy

We are on a similar schedule and I'm wondering if yours was on the assembly line near mine. My baby is in transit now from West Point, GA to Indiana, which I then will need to ship from Indiana back to GA (45 min from the plant)! But I'm happy as heck as I'm only a few weeks away! Congrats and do take some pics of the delivery and of her inside and out.
