If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Parking sensor error or blockage

I’m also experiencing this with our ‘21 SX. Mine is intermittent and the sensors do work about half the time. This has been ongoing for months. This morning I just happened to be going to the dealer for an oil change and at the traffic light in front of the dealer I got the ‘sensor blockage or error’ message on the dash! What are the chance!?! But of course, two minutes later the service check in folks can’t get the message to come on and the sensors are back to working.
And then they explain to me they can look at it but if they can’t find any errors it will cost me $250!! After expressing my annoyance they explain that’s how every dealer operates. Maybe every KIA dealer…. I’ve never been charged a diagnostic fee And dealers have been unable to replicate issues on multiple occasions.

I think the next step is to file a complaint. I should of done this a while ago. If the rear sensors are not working due to leaky seals and not the sensor itself. Could this mean recall? Report a Safety Problem | NHTSA

Our 2021 Kia Sorento gave us that error today. She had her front windshield tinted and I am wondering if the sensor box under the dash got wet from the soapie water they use to tint the window. We didn’t take the Vehicle through car wash so I’m thinking this might be something that is happening to many of these new Kia’s? If anyone found the fix, please post it. We will be taking it to the dealer soon if it doesn’t go away.

Just say it stopped working no car wash no new tint don't mention non of that.

When I put the telluride in reverse, I get the message "parking sensor error or blockage" Ive cleaned the backup sensors, there's no blockage. we think it might have started after taking the car through the car wash. The camera works, it just won't beep if we get too close. Any ideas?
I had the same issue. They had to replace a sensor in the rear bumper and the wiring harness in the front.

I just started experiencing this on my 2021 Telly with 33k and based on what I am reading here I may have some corrosion. Guess I'll have to take it in.

This
Mine went out for the second time. Took it back to dealer and they said the connectors were corroded and there was water in the wire harness. I was told three harnesses had to be replaced due to corrosion at the connectors and it was not covered by warranty because it was caused by an “outside intervention”. Was also told that KIA regional denied the warranty because of the outside intervention (Can’t explain to me that is) I have filed a complaint with KIA national and waiting on their response. To me is a bad seal at the connectors but so far they are no help. Also looks like more folks are having this issue.
Is what the KIA dealer told me yesterday. Over $500 for a new cable as mine had 64000 miles and out of that warranty. Stayed after several days of heavy rain.

They replaced the whole unit, the sensors, and all for me under warranty. My service guy was great!

2022 Telluride with 68k and rear sensor error just started. Never been through a car wash. Coincidentally I just updated the infotainment system the day that it started and wondered if that had any impact. I can't find anywhere where the sensors are connected in any way.

I had the same error message but it hadn't just been washed or the temperature was not above 75. I took it to the dealer and they wanted $200.00 to diagnose. I told them not at this time and that they should probably be doing another recall as there are too many problems for it to be a coincidence. They said that they were going t contact Kia but I am also going to contact them as well.

This is the exact reason I do not use Kia Service, ever. Local garage will diagnose for free.

What ended up being the issue ? Mine is doing the same thing now !

My local Kia dealership is trying to charge me $1,700 to replace the whole hardness and wiring. They also are not sure what is the problem but think it's a short somewhere in the wiring. They also charged me $200 for a diagnostic test. I have a 2020 SXP

wife's '22 telluride sx with 65k miles showed the front parking sensor error yesterday...so i went on youtube and saw a guy spray wd-40 (the wd stands for water displacement for anyone that didn't know) to hopefully displace any water causing an issue with the sensors...i put a rag under each front sensor and sprayed directly onto each sensor trying to force it in around the edges of each of the 4 front circular sensors on the bumper...let it sit overnight...this morning i did some experimentation while backing out of the garage as well as in the driveway...while in reverse both the front left and front right sensor worked properly when there was an obstruction in front of them...the center 2 did not which i assume is because those 2 sensors are not active in reverse...put it in drive and i still had the front sensor error which makes me think it's either one of the center 2 sensors or the wiring harness but not sure...wife drove the car to work and when she got to work the front sensor worked...not sure if the wd-40 was forced down behind the sensors by the air at highway speeds or there is a poor connection and a bump or something caused it to work again...we'll see what happens from here...car was just at the dealer 5/7/25 for a thermostat assembly replacement

my questions are:
-does anyone know if there are different parking sensor errors?...if the front right sensor is malfunctioning will it tell you that this one is the issue or will it just tell you there is a general issue with the front or rear?
-is this a warranty item (i assume no since all we have available past 60k miles is the 100k mile warranty for powertrain, we did not get an extended warranty)?
-can i access the wiring harness to take a look at it to see if it's corroded and possibly wrap the hell out of it with electrical tape by removing the black cover just under the bumper or do you have to take the bumper off? basically where is the wiring harness located?
-anyone ever attempt to replace themselves?
-anyone have a part number (diagram link below with parts, i have an idea it's 91890-S9030 but not sure)?

front bumper has to come off to replace the wiring...i guess the connection for a sorento is on the front right side behind the wheel well (thread below)...i assume that means passenger side...going to pull the wheel and take a look this weekend...anyone know if i need to disconnect the battery if i unplug the sensor connector?

I’m dealing with this now for the rear sensor and malfunctioning camera and they are quoting me 2K and not under warranty

we are just out of the 60k warranty so i won't even attempt bringing this in...i watched a few youtube videos of the bumper removal and it doesn't seem too bad to remove and the part is only $172 so i think i'll give it a shot unless i can figure out how to get the connector to function better...going to see what the connectors look like this weekend i hope

pulled the bumper off...pulled each connector and blew it out with an air compressor and sprayed with electrical contact cleaner...there was no visible corrosion inside any of the sensor connectors nor the main connector that connects to the car at the front passenger side wheel well...stumped, i reassembled and i went on the web and found someone who works on them regularly and stated that the corrosion typically exists on the back side of the connectors not inside and it's most of the time the wire harness that needs to be replaced...going to order one and install this weekend...seems like a pretty easy job...may take a little longer as i may try to do a little electrical tape weatherproofing myself or maybe i'll use duct tape

bumper removal for a 2022 was generally the same as this video but there are 2 screws in the top wheel well hole (one is 10mm and one is 8mm)...also prepare to break at least 1 clip on each side when you pull the side edge away from the front quarter panel...not a huge issue as you won't notice a difference upon reassembly as there are multiple clips...also realize that the telluride vehicle trim in the video does not have the sensor system so there will be a cable connected from the bumper to the car near the wheel well on the front passenger side when you remove the bumper...i had already disconnected it cause i had removed the wheel to take a look at the main connector through the passenger side wheel well
