If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Prestige Package - really need it?

🤖 AI Summary

Good point. We did go with the AWD, but the other options with the prestige package just don’t make the upgrade worthwhile. On a side note, our dealership doesn’t markup the price like many are doing right now, but they do have dealer “add-ons”, one being a leather sealer that adds an additional 7 year warranty to the seats, so I think we’re definitely good skipping the nappa upgrade.

My dealer wanted to charge $500 for a similar leather sealer interior protection... that is even high. So, don't overpay for that "add-on". Some places try and sell for as much as $2500.

I think this one is charging $900 for the leather sealant and warranty

Prospective buyer here - is the ambient lighting part of the SX, or does it require the Prestige Package? I wish the list for the SXP vs SX was more clear, I don't see the ambient lighting listed on the SX features OR the Prestige Package!

The ambient lighting (doors and dash) is an SX feature, no Prestige required.

I live in MN and i have the prestige package and i have zero regrets.. Rear heated seats, heated steering and HUD all of them make my day everyday....

@cheeks80 - thanks for the perspective... i'm torn on value and keep waffling, we're nearby in south dakota! how does the HUD look with polarized sunglasses? is it completely useless in that case?

I don't own a T-Ride yet but from what Ive read on this forum, you can't see the HUD with polarized sunglasses.. You have to tilt your head to see it..

Yes, very difficult to see the HUD with polarized glasses.

Buy a good pair of non-polarized glasses for driving. I have been happy with Oakley's with Prizm lens that isn't polarized. Many HUDs on windshields either disappear or dim significantly with polarized lenses.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much I'd use the HUD anyway while driving with sunglasses... I guess it's not a big deal if I don't use it when I have sunglasses... more of a nice to have, not a necessity.

I am able to see it with my polarized sunglasses. Faint, but visible.....

I agree w/ this. If I move my head down just a bit it also helps.

I just bought my polarized glasses 6 months ago... pricey ones too. Might make them my not in the car glasses and get a pair of "driving glasses".

I thought the HUD was a bit gimmicky, but it is pretty impressive when I drive at night without sunglasses.

I skipped it on my order. But really considered it. Opinions are pretty subjective though. My thoughts...

Seats look nicer, but felt the same to me.
Headliner is whatever to me. Don't know the last time I noticed a headliner in a car.
HUD - I honestly find a bit distracting and wear sunglasses most all the time I am driving.
Second row comfort... I almost ordered for this. But my second row passengers are in car seats for most the life of this car.
Rain sensing wipers - Again, almost wanted this, but I spend so much time overriding mine in my Audi and my wife's Honda that they might as well be manual. They work great in solid rain, but spitty/damp conditions they seem inadequate. But I don't have experience with Kia's sensors.
I agree with your comments.:)

Is it true that the heated steering wheel is actually tied to AWD, and not the prestige package? I don't see it in the list for the prestige package, and the list calls it out as optional, but I've been seeing reports that it's actually included as part of the AWD package?

I wholeheartedly agree as well with that comment. It’s all subjective and if someone really wants these features then it’s not a bad value I suppose.

But for me, the only feature I really care for is the rain sensing wipers. And that’s probably just because my last two cars have had them so I’m used to it but not a game changer.

Those same two cars had heated back seats. I don’t think we used them once. With little kids it’s basically a moot point.

The headliner does feel nice but my little bit of ocd would make me go nuts every time someone touched it!

Either way, I think we can all agree, prestige or not, the SX is a value that currently can’t be beat!

Yes, AWD EX and SX get the heated steering wheel.

I have driven both the SX with HUD and other makes SUVs with HUD... Ford and Lincoln using polarized glasses. I wear Typhoon with reading lens because they have all the features I need for riding my motorcycles.... polarized, shatterproof and UV protection. I never had a problem with seeing the HUD in fact it is one of the features I was looking for in a reasonable priced SUV. It helps me keep focused on the road and what is around me without searching the instruments or looking for GPS directions on a separate screen. I have ordered my AWD SX P/T for the value of the total package which makes the T such a great buy! Even end of year close outs on other makes of comparable SUV were thousands of $$$ more than a fully equipped AWD SX P/T. I do live in an area that needs some cold weather options plus I tow motorcycle or off road vehicles to CO. at times. Just a great bargain for the money. I'm patient. Bottom line each to their own.
By the way, I have been where many of you are earlier in my lifetime where extras just weren't a big deal. After a career in the military many moons ago I made my mind up after 20 years of a combat arms experience, I did not need to learn how to be miserable....... been there, done that, time to enjoy the luxury a little. Not that any one of the trim levels is not a great choice I just am able to go a little bit farther with the upgrades than I could at times in my life. Someone once told me "In the long run it only costs a nickle more to go first class". Granted that was from someone that lived through the depression when a nickle was some big time money I kind of like what he had to say.

Bottom line for me.......I have been buying new cars since 1968, ( yes I'm old ) and did I ever "need" the optimal luxury package ??? Nope....have I enjoyed having em?? Yup... AND, this Kia is beyond (in quality and function so many more) that I paid MUCH MORE for..........just sayin!!!
