In anticipation of an an epic 1200-mile journey this fall, I want to make sure I am taking all the necessary preparations with my Telluride. Everything from tire, wiper, and fluid status right down to the Thule bike rack on the rear hitch.
Being an anal Engineer, I always look at contingencies and one of those is possible radiator damage from an errant rock on the interstate. I read with interest all the “fatal funnel” posts and after watching the YouTube, I decided to proceed with safeguarding against this type of unplanned road emergency.
I’m happy to report the successful installation as of this morning. No issues encountered at all, and the whole process took about 20 minutes, even with my OCD insistence that I count holes on each screen to make sure the tie locations were balanced around the centerline. Instead of clipping the long ends of the ties, I decided to tuck them back into the screen to give them a more finished look.
Not only functional but aesthetically pleasing as well. The installation is solid but can be easily undone should I decide to do so later.
