• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Remote start

When you say 'the same range' - can you give an estimate? Does it work when you're inside a building and does being inside significantly affect the range?
It does work inside a building. Distance? Just a guess here. Sometimes my inch is a mile and other times it is the other way around 🤪. I think sitting in a restaurant the other day I s was probably 60 or 70 feet away and couldn’t see the car and it was running when we got to it. If I am going to be 3000 feet away from the car like some of these companies claim I would use the app. I have always had chevys and this is my first venture outside that in a LONG time and have always used OnStar
It’s seems brad has a harness
Got a follow up email from the Viper dealer...

"To give you more info. The remote start harnesses are never plug and play for these vehicles. There is always some wires needed to be spliced in."

FWIW - could be their way of trying to convince me to come in for their $50 off special thru Sat... :cautious:

Two sources also indicated the range for remote starting the car with the 3X-lock from the OEM fob is limited to the same range at which you can lock your car (makes sense if it's 3X-lock that starts it). Not sure how far that is... need to test it I guess...

IMHO - probably a good idea to wait a while and use the free app in the meantime...
I have to believe that even if there is only one end that plugs into the module for the remote start and bare wires on the other that those bare wires cannot be run back to the source instead of spliced into a wire. There has to be a source where those wires come from. I think "splicing" is the easiest way to do it and believe most installers will take that route, but doesn't necessarily mean it has to be done that way. I am by no means an expert but having dealt with HMI,s (Human Machine Interfaces) and PLC's (Programmable Logic Controllers) a lot you do not want to splice anything for the cleanest connections. It may be a pain and take longer to run a new wire to get back to the source but it can be done. You can use Molex connector kits, like shown below, which are very easy to make and can be found in just about any configuration you need. That may be considered a "splice" but if it is then most of the vehicles have "splices" all over them anyway. Ok, I will get off my soap box now and feel sure there will be something out soon to make everyone feel more comfortable about this type of installation. After all it is a new car and even if a splice does hold up for the entire life of the vehicle and you are always thinking it may fail then the new vehicle will never be right with you. Mine is working great and didn't see them splice into anything (doesn't mean that didn't) so I am happy with it and feel confident it was done right so am enjoying the key fob remote.

I was told by my dealer that it was about $5.00 - $6.00 a month. I did add the remote start to my key fob but still waiting on the part to come in. They have to add something to the vehicle.
Would you happen to know what part needs to be added to get the Remote start on key fob? I have talked to 4 dealerships today and none of them even have a clue that it’s available

Have you gotten your remote starter yet? Do you know what was added? Any issues?

Kia has oem plug-n-play remote start kits for their other models. Kia Engine Remote Start Kits
Since the Tellurides in Dubai come with remote start on the key fob, I'm betting the kit comes available soon; hopefully before my UVO expires.

I have read on the Kia web site thst the the Telluride comes with remote start as standard as long as you have the UVO app and subscription. When I asked the Kia dealer they said it does not have remote start. Does anyone know what the answer is?
Kua Telluride does not have a remote start that is part of your key fob. However, it is integrated in the UVO app. Now that Fall is here, I’d like to start my car with the remote start. I’ve not had any luck with doing so with the UVO app. All I get is a message, “Your request was not processed. Try again.” Oh yes, I’ve been trying for a week. Time to call UVO!

Climate is how you turn your engine on. Took me a while to figure it out! Lock doors first using UVO app then click on set your climate - set it to the temp you want and click start. Telluride will start up and run for 10 min :)
Thank you for the info! The secret is you must lock the doors first?! Yes, it worked! Now I can enjoy a warm Telluride this winter. 👍🏻

I did some research on this "oddity" and came up with the following: Americans just think "i want to remote start my car"....the Asian engineering ( and some European) is following the logic of "one wants to remote start their car because they want to warm it up or cool it down" therefore the remote start capability is contained within the "climate adjustment" aspect of the app. The more I think about it.....why would I remote start my car if not for that very reason!

Yes....the latest update has separated out the idea of "remote start" from the "climate" control function.

Let us know how you feel about this after a year when KIA wants to charge you over $25 per month to remote start your car.

I will confirm that the remote start doesn't work unless you lock your doors first. Where are we getting the information on monthly cost for UVO once the year is up?

I have a button in my key fob to start the car remotely. Just press the lock button, then not later than four seconds you should press/hold the car start button.

I’m guessing they slapped something like the iDatastart HCX in it and added a premium to the price. Probably because cell coverage for the app in the other countries is spotty. For a couple hundred USD we can do this ourselves by a qualified remote car start dealer and get a better install and warranty from someone familiar with remote starters. Once a T-harness is available for the iDatastart it can probably be an easy DIY.
