If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Remote start

I have read on the Kia web site thst the the Telluride comes with remote start as standard as long as you have the UVO app and subscription. When I asked the Kia dealer they said it does not have remote start. Does anyone know what the answer is?
Kia/Hyundai don't (to my knowledge) come with traditional fob based remote starts.. The app allows you to 'remote' start your Kia.. And pretty much configure that start anyway you want.. Unlike the GM app starts I've been accustomed to...

Kia app is far from perfect, but it's not terrible either. I've used the remote start a couple of times. There's a slight delay for the signal to go to the satellite and then back to your Telly, but it works just fine.
It's not using satellite, it's a cellular connection.

Yes. There is no separate “start” option. Turn on climate

Most Kias/Hyundais come with fob based remote starts. The only 2 that I know of that didn't were the K900 and the Tellurdie. I've had 3 Sorento's and the Stinger which have all been fob based. My Stinger I went aftermarket as I prefer the app based ones personally.

It’s still mind blowing to me that they don’t even know the product they’re selling. You have a dozen cars to learn abound and make you salary/commission and still know nothing about your cars.

I learned the hard way that you have to have a key start car (not button start) for a remote start fob.. I have the 2020 Kia Soul GT Turbo. The lower model Soul's come with a fob and key. My more expensive model has push button start and no key. Kia didn't know their product, so they ordered the fob and parts and when they opened the instructions it said does not work with button start. The UVO app is down a lot and I don't have good internet, so I'm screwed. I am disabled and need to pre cool my car in Arizona, but UVO doesn't do me any good when it's down for maintenance or not connecting. Opened a case with Consumer Affairs and have heard nothing back. Called 3 times...

I was told by my dealer that it was about $5.00 - $6.00 a month. I did add the remote start to my key fob but still waiting on the part to come in. They have to add something to the vehicle.
Did you have this added after market? OR did you order your vehicle and have it added by factory beforehand? I was just wondering if it voided the warranty at all? thanks!

JenB is correct.
What app are you using? I’m using UVO Access and this does not look like mine. I do have a dedicated button to remote start, not climate.

Also, is everyone else seeing that when you lock your doors with the fob and then go to start your car through the app, it is not in sync and it does not see the doors are locked, it thinks they are still unlocked and you have to press the button to lock the doors (even though they were locked with the fob) wait the minute or so it takes for the command to complete and only then can you press the command to start the car and wait another minute for that command to execute. So after all is said and done it takes approximately 2 minutes to remote start my Telluride. Is this the same for everybody else? I hve the iOS app.

Hello @Razorback
Did you ever completed the change needed to bypass the APP for remote start? If so can you provide the details, part number, cost etc? Seem the service fee will be around $20 a month now, pretty expensive.
Thanks
FYI...I got my Telluride SX last week and they added remote start for me. I can start it with the factory key fob by pressing the lock button 3 times and holding it for about 4 seconds on the third press. It does not void the warranty. It also comes with 2 separate fobs for starting as well but no need for them since it works with the factory fob.

Thanks for the info! Safe to assume it was the dealer that added it? Mind if I ask how much they charged you?

Any more details? Brand/model?

I did it through the dealer but I found out they sent it to a third party to install it. It was supposed to be $320 but it ended up being thrown in for nothing extra.

It does Not have command start in the Telluride (key Fobb) but you can start it thru the UVO app, pain in the ass and takes about 5 minutes to do!

While I agree it is a pain, 5 minutes is a stretch. I've trained myself to start the engine through the app and its not that big of a deal. The only reason anyone would ever want to remote start is to cool off the vehicle. I live in South La and its 95+ temps here daily. If I want my car is in the sun and I want it to cool off, then I need to do it 5 minutes before I actually want to sit in it. The app does have an advantage. I can start the car from anywhere giving me the chance to cool the car before I even walk out of, lets say, the grocery store. Using the key fob, you have to be so close to your car (probable 50-75 feet), it doesnt even have time to cool off by the time you walk up to it. In that regard, the app is better than a fob in my opinion. I wish they made the app more user friendly though. With that, I do agree with you

Are you sure its cell based? Because as far as I know it is satellite based, since its using the module from the SiriusXM's signal. It it were cell based it would probably have wifi availability inside the car. There would also be some sort of partnership with one of the major cell carriers in the us, like how GM uses AT&T for their wifi plans. This of course after years of using Verizon for their OnStar setup. Another way to tell is that the car would have a SIM card somewhere that connects it to cell.

Sorry if this has already been stated, but if you use the Alexa app to start your Telluride it’s almost instantaneous. Obviously you would need access to an alexa device to engage it. Simply say “Alexa, ask UVO to start my KIA”. You can even set the temp. “Alexa, ask UVO to start my KIA and set the climate control to 65 degrees”. The UVO Alexa app also requires a PIN so kids or pranksters using Alexa can’t start it. So once you say your command Alexa will then ask you for your UVO pin. Then the car starts in about 10 secs.

Just remember the UVO app is going to cost soon
