• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Remote start

Well, that doesn't sound like a good way to go... line of sight is too limiting IMHO...

I wouldn't mind having to carry the two fobs (would rather not, of course); but longer distance is a must have.

Maybe Kia will respond to the Ford change and elim or at least reduce the subscription fee...

I'd pay $50/year for just Remote Lock & Unlock, Remote Climate, Remote Start & Stop - don't care about the rest of the stuff that I'd never use.

Or get a Viper with the 3000 ft nominal range...

It’s Kia Access

I have read on the Kia web site thst the the Telluride comes with remote start as standard as long as you have the UVO app and subscription. When I asked the Kia dealer they said it does not have remote start. Does anyone know what the answer is?

I'm trying to find out how much it costs after the free subscription runs out. I made an inquiry over the Kia chat line and got no response there.
I read somewhere that it is $9.99 per month for the "care" package
after the complimentary subscription expires.

I remember the $9.99 per month on the "Care" package when I read the info a few weeks ago. 😉

Did you need another key fob or did it work with the original one that came with the car. How has it been working since it’s been installed?
I have had it for maybe only a month or two. It has been working great. Just like all my other vehicles have and the same range the had also.

Oh yeah. I just use the original key fob.

One other thing. Everything works including the auto opening cargo door and also the approach lighting.

When you say 'the same range' - can you give an estimate? Does it work when you're inside a building and does being inside significantly affect the range?

Hello everyone, some of you may have already ran into the kia owners portal, but I hadn't until just now so I thought others may also benefit. You get to it by logging into Kia Owners Portal using your email/phone and password you've setup in the Kia access app. The site actually gives you access to all the functions we have through the app, besides also allowing you to renew the subscription when it expires and telling you the cost. FYI, the free one-year subscription we all have is for the Ultimate package.

WOW!! This is what everyone needs to see..

Got a follow up email from the Viper dealer...

"To give you more info. The remote start harnesses are never plug and play for these vehicles. There is always some wires needed to be spliced in."

FWIW - could be their way of trying to convince me to come in for their $50 off special thru Sat... :cautious:

Two sources also indicated the range for remote starting the car with the 3X-lock from the OEM fob is limited to the same range at which you can lock your car (makes sense if it's 3X-lock that starts it). Not sure how far that is... need to test it I guess...

IMHO - probably a good idea to wait a while and use the free app in the meantime...
It’s seems brad has a harness

This was in another feed. I was quoted the same from UVO. It’s was $29.97 a month.

Have read the various comments regarding the app and the ability to do the "remote start" and the bit of frustration regarding the lack of a specific "remotet start" on the app and the fact that it is tied into the "climate" function. Based on my previous ownership of European and Asian vehicles.....it's a "logic" thing that goes like this: why would anyone remote start their vehicle if it were not to cool it down or heat it up? So....they incorporate the capability into the "climate" function. All that being said.....I would also like it to be a fob function.

Howdy,
