• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Remote start

I was told by my dealer that it was about $5.00 - $6.00 a month. I did add the remote start to my key fob but still waiting on the part to come in. They have to add something to the vehicle.
My dealership said they can’t add anything. That remote start with the key fob isn’t possible...

Look for a third party kit. It is possible. Can get it professionally installed at a place like CarToys (Texas) or even some Best Buy stores.

have we already discussed the possibility of buying 2021 fobs for 2020 owners?
I just spent the last 45 minutes searching threads/posts for that discussion, excuse me if it's already been brought up.

You will likely end up spending triple the cost of a third party kit only to have one button on your fob but no additional functionality.
- price of the 2021 FOB (X2)
- price of the 2021 remote start controller
- installation cost of the controller in your 2020 Telluride
- each Telluride can only have up to 2 proximity FOBs programmed at a time, so cost to have the two new ones programmed to start the car and then remote start button configured which can only be done by a dealer likely a couple hundred $$

Versus the alternative, buy a decent aftermarket remote start unit (ideally a plugnplay one) that works with the existing 2020 OEM remote FOB requires no reprogramming. You just train the remote start system to start when the OEM lock button is pressed three times. This entire option may cost the same or less than just the cost to reprogram.

Another thread on this forum found this kit: 2020 KIA Telluride Remote Start Kit - PUSH START ONLY I think someone mentioned reprogramming the proximity FOB costs $300 at the dealer.

I get that. Personally I'm not a fan of many aftermarket parts or options, I like things clean and stock for longevity and reliability purposes.

Anyhow, do we know for sure that a 2021 key would also need an additional controller installed within the vehicle itself?
IMO the hundreds it would costs to buy a 2021 key and have pay for programming on a 2020 would be worth it (for me, maybe not for everyone)

Doesn’t get anymore “clean and stock” than the OEM remote you are using everyday to drive your 2020 Telluride. This controller unit would be what is not stock but would be out of sight anyways.

Totally your choice to spend what you want on the remote start you want though.

Yup. If ours wasn't swapped to a 2021 this was the unit I'd go with.

I just pick up the Telluride and downloaded the app and the remote starter is there. Thank you for your answer. The dealership still says it does not come with one.
The UVO subscription is only free for 1 year - after that it costs $22/month to maintain the remote start ability...

I asked about that and they said no there was nothing for the KEY FOB for remote start. They told me the only way was through the app. I am interested in knowing more about KEY FOB START if you have information. Thanks, in advance. Mike
