Remote start

Tellthemride,

I took off the fuse box cover. Much to my surprise there were already T Splices connected to the yellow and red wire. Traced them back to an alarm the dealer added which I did not pay for. Dealer must of de activated the aftermarket alarm. Pictures of alarm appear to be a Karr brand. $50 and the dealer wanted $950.

I measured the diameter of the KFOB Module wires and the connector wires on the Telly and they appear to be 12 Gauge wire. I checked the yellow T splice connector and yes, yellow was for 12 gauge. Since I removed the yellow connector, it will be easy to poke and wrap connections.

Awesome, thanks a lot for checking. 👍

They sent me the takeover instructions last night if anyone cares to look. Also said no issues using posi taps as long as it is done correctly and using correct gauge

Thanks for sharing. It was already posted earlier in this thread, but there is so much activity in this thread it’s easy to miss. Maybe I will start a new thread just for accessorides mod and sticky all the PDF’s on post #1.

Received the takeover with app version today. Will report back when I have it installed. The app connectivity module is the only one that looks like it can be added separately. The 2-wire takeover cables are tied into one of the three connectors on the plug and play harnesses on the remote start unit. One of the fuses on the 2-wire cables came bent, but should still work.

UPDATED 8/24 @8:49PM: Installed the kit later today, or I should say my 29 year old son installed. Easy Peasy. Maybe 15 minutes max. Simple and programming worked like a charm. Both remotes started her right up.

Question though? What happens with the climate control aspect, it appears to revert back to whatever setting the car was shut off with, which is fine, just wondering of that is in fact the case??

Received the no-takeover just now. Not much to this plug and play version, which is nice. Will install in a few and may post another video of it in operation. $277.09 delivered to New Mexico.

Tellthemride,

Installed mine and it works great.

Your module is different than mine. I know Voxx just bought Viper®, along with Autostart®, AstroStart®, Automate®, Avital®, Clifford®, Directed®, and Python® .

Simple install. Just be careful not to let the wires touch the coolant lines in the center console. They are very hot.

I was told by my dealer that it was about $5.00 - $6.00 a month. I did add the remote start to my key fob but still waiting on the part to come in. They have to add something to the vehicle.
I'm wondering how the key fob remote start worked for you. When I bought my Telluride last August, I was told UVO was the only way to use remote start. Since I've hit the 1 year mark, UVO now charges $14.99/month for the UVO Plus that has remote start, which I find absolutely ridiculous!

Order the kit from Accessorides.com - see several 2020 posts above. You accidentally replied to a very old 2019 post. There is now a good kit that is reasonably priced.

@rwhite4573 did you end up using the T splice or removed them and did the poke and wrap?

Removed the yellow connectors and then poke and wrap and then soldered then wrap with black tape. I put a painters canvas down on the carpet
to prevent burns. The carlink app is simple pretty quick. In my case much faster then UVO app. If you select audio when you press the button you hear a beep and when the command is completed you get audio feedback and visual feedback. I like it 👍

You got this from Accessorides or did you get it from Voxx?

With regard to climate control, it'll remember whatever the last settings were before the engine was shut off. Same with the radio.

Accessorides.com is where I got mine. Yes to ac and radio are where you last had them set.

Yes, yours look like mine from Accessorides, however, @mrplatz’s is different as you stated.

I’m curious if Accessorides changed sourcing of the module since the initial release or if @mrplatz’s is from another company.

Also, his look smaller and doesn’t have the red stickers on top.

That’s the same thing I was told by my dealer in Athens GA.

I just installed the accessorides non-takeover module yesterday. I tried to install without having to take apart the glove box but the space was too tight for me. In total it took me an hour to disassemble glove box, install, program, and re-install glove box. Works great! I couldn't find a great place to put the module without it banging around so I used several zip ties to stuff it in there. I'm now worried that maybe I put the module near the coolant lines as stated by rwhite4573 in post #666?! Will have to keep an eye on it.
For $277 delivered and to be able to use OEM fob, I think that is a good price. Like the idea that I could upgrade to an app down the road if I wanted.

My purchase was from accessories.com. Did not realize the module was different. Either way, works like a champ. They must have made a change. We also removed the glove box to allow for easier access. And also stuffed the module up and back using a zip tie or two to secure the cable bundle.

ok, thanks for confirming. Borrowing the pictures from @rwhite4573 and @mrplatz, you can see the distinct difference between the two modules.

My guess is that the people who ordered it early got some sort of "pre-production" module (or alternate source vendor) and yours is the production module. The circuit board will obviously be different based on the plug layout seen above, but hey, it still works. Hopefully the earlier version can still be upgraded with extended range remote and/or remote start by APP or vice versa.

Mine appears to be a Compustar brand module, @mrplatz is a Voxx brand. I'm using the Carlink App on my Compustar module with the additional small App module. Works great. I know last month Voxx bought some alarm companies and I'm not sure Compustar was one of them.. It could be ACCESSORIDES.com switched sources, better price, better delivery and many more reasons. Both brands appear to be working correctly. (y)

For some reason I thought ACCESSORIDES was a remote starter OEM. Perhaps they are integrators who develop custom P&P wiring harness solutions using other OEM products..

What's with the Red sticker? Makes it look like a pre-production prototype!

jazzyone,
Your are correct mine does look like a prototype unit with that sticker and marker writing.
I think ACCESSORIDES does the engineering and wire harness and buy the modules just like you said above.
