• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Retrofit EX with SX LED headlights

I have a used SX led headlamp enroute. Once I have it I can figure out the SX headlamp interior wiring and make the plug and play connectors. My only concern is whether or not the SX headlamp will trigger a lamp fault warning on the EX. I don’t think it will based on numerous folks swapping their incandescent bulbs for LEDs in the EX headlamp. But we’ll see. I think the SX headlamps turn signals are incorporated into the amber light ring so that may also be an issue. We’ll find out soon enough.

Cool! Keep us posted, thanks!

I’ve got an SX headlamp and completed the plug and play connector; I am proud to report the SX light works flawlessly on the EX with no lamp fault warning! A bonus is that due to the wiring of the EX halogen headlamp, when the high beams on the SX headlamp are activated, the low beams stay on—more light! Here’s a video showing the function of the SX light on an EX. Now to order another headlamp and install them.

That’s normal operation for SX headlights.

Wow...this is a significant find...good work! Where did you get the headlight module from?

Great work! Assuming all goes well, I hope you are planning on offering a plug and play harness for sale.

Any SX headlamp on eBay would work. But I’d recommend you avoid the ones with broken tabs, holes in the housing, missing or broken adjusters, etc. Minor scratches on the clear facing can usually be buffed out. Alternatively you can get brand new ones online for ~$650 each. I may go that route.

I have ordered enough parts (to include correctly sized and colored wire) to make a few sets. They are tedious and time consuming to build so price will be ~$100 for a set but with them all you’d need to do to install SX headlamps is unplug and remove your old ones, install the SX headlamps, and plug them in. Done.

Thought I don't need them (already have SXP), $600 or so a light is reasonable for led headlamps. I recently had both headlamps on bimmer replaced (by insurance) due to a minor 5-10 mph accident. They ended up with a broken tab on each. Bill was $12,000 ($6000 for each headlamp!!). Maybe they hide gold in them or something for such a ridiculous price.

That's reasonable, let me know when you accepting orders.

Just ordered a pristine pair of SX headlamps off eBay, I received the actual wire (in the correct colors) to make the harnesses today; just waiting on the connector fittings to arrive. I'll have enough to make 4 sets, plus one for me. If there is more interest, I'll order more connectors.BC2BD433-80FC-4967-B428-087512366BDD.webp
