SX foglights

Hi all, I need some help.
Can someone answer these Q’s? I’m installing fogs on my EX and want to understand how the SX factory fog lights operate.
- will the foglights operate without the headlights turned on (e.g. using foglights and parking lights without the headlights)
- will the fogs work with the headlight high beams on?

Fogs only work with low beam on, fogs turn off when high beam is on.

Sorry for the delay - on the road. 29MPG during the first 1,200 mi road trip.
I think I'm going with a set of PIAA lights that virtually match the SX lights. My guy said it's easy to wire them into the parking lights or headlights (his recommendation). If you want a separate switch you'll either need to replace with the SX blinker stalk or add a separate switch. However, that's gonna add cost and time, so if you're using a lighting pro it's gonna get expensive.
Long story short - not sure if I'm gonna jump. My guy thought 2-3 hours at $100/hr +$300 for the lights. If I want it switched, unsure about add'l time or costs...
Put a set of LED DRL's on (not wired yet) just to see what they'll look like. And I really like that look.

That looks sharp! Can you share the make and model and possibly take a closer pic to the mounting?

This was a cheap set I had purchased for another car. I used a razor and cut the bottom and sides of the thin plastic inset on the lower grill and pushed it back like a flap. Used several layers of 3M automotive double sided tape and just pulled the wires back in a tie. Totally decorative and will be replaced with functional fog lights one of these days. Has anyone installed the PIA fog lights using the existing wiring and changing the turn signal lever to the correct one? I was wondering where the wiring is for the fog lights to attach and do I need to add a fuse and relay in addition to the turn signal lever. Any help would be appreciated.

My guy said it will need add'l wiring. I have not had the lights added yet. The new blinker / light stalk will be expensive, so I have not considered that as an option...

The blinker stalk is actually not that expensive. It cost around $176 dollars and saves a ton of wiring. What kills me is KIA wants $4350.00 just for the parts to replace the headlights with the LED ones and the OEM fog lights

I’m considering options from PIAA, Diode Dynamics and Rigid. I’d like to go with a yellow or amber LED light as I’ve found those to be most effective in inclement weather. My sound guy is going to install them for $170, which includes mounting a switch on the front of the fuse box lid. I already have my interior lights and bass knob mounted there so it should look pretty slick.

In search of aftermarket LED fog lights for my S that fit close to the OEM look of the SXP. Trying to get 2 on the sides (as opposed to a light bar) with minimal cutting. Also trying to find some that are SAE and/or DOT approved and bright enough to improve the stock HID projectors. I found these by Diode Dynamics but I’m afraid at best they will stick out 1/2” from the bumper unless I really start cutting. Stage Series 6" SAE/DOT White Light Bar (pair). Has anyone found something similar that is less than 3” deep with mounts but still about 42mm (1.654”) tall and < 7” wide?

I haven’t put anything in yet. I think PIAA has some that may fit. PIAAlights. I also heard that Kia will begin selling an OEM kit, including the inside light stalk, for $1,000.

Something I did to my Escape... I wired the factory fogs to always be on when the vehicle was on...

Got mating connectors that matched stock so I left stock wiring in place, simply disconnected the stock wires.

Used a fuse tap to share an ignition-on circuit to power a relay under the hood, I put a dash switch in this line so the fogs could be turned off if desired. The relay took power from the battery to the lights (that I replaced the halogen bulbs with LEDs) using the replacement mating connectors.

If the ignition was on and the switch was on - the fogs were on with
- no other lights
- parking lights
- low beams
- and high beams

Loved it. Thinking about doing similar in the SX; although with the auto headlights, auto high beams and the amber DRLs - it's not as needed, but would still add to the appearance Certainly was nice of Kia to provide that conveniently located fuse panel cover for easy mounting of switches...
