• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Any update when Kia will have a fog light kit will be available? Any recs on an after market option? thx

Can I jump on this thread to boost bdon's question and add my own....?

Can someone advise me about using fog lights? Maybe even you, bdon. I've had them for four months now on my Telly and have yet to use them because, well, it hasn't been foggy. I've never had fog lights before. Am I just supposed to turn them on any old time? Is it a cool factor thing? If it's not foggy, are they good for night time driving or bad for some reason or just for aesthetics or what? Are there laws about it?

I have questions!

They’re called fog lights because they sit lower than the headlights and can help light the road below fog. You can use them anytime to help light the road

When I lived in Upstate New York, I used them along with the low beams when driving in heavy snowfall for greater visibility. Don't you get any snow up there in Canada?!?

Okay, but I can see the road perfectly well without them. It will be interesting to try them on the rare foggy day.

Yes, we do! I didn't know they were snow lights as well. We haven't had much snow so far this year, and no fog. So yah.

I’m sure you can with LED headlights. I put LED’s in my S and wouldn’t use my fog lights if I had them.

They are helpful for lateral vision fields :) to pick up animals, small children or miniature insurrectionists who may cross your path........:)

When driving in dense fog, the light from regular headlights reflects off the water droplets back into your eyes, impairing rather than improving visibility. Fog lights are positioned low on the vehicle and have a wide beam angled toward the ground, which reduces glare and helps you see the road better. Whether you want to replace damaged original fog lights, upgrade them, or add this safety feature to your vehicle, we have what you need. We offer a wide range of styles, with parabolic reflectors or projector beams, and with illumination provided by Halogen bulbs, LED bulbs, or Xenon (HID) lights. more details on - Fog Lights | Custom & Factory, LED, HID, Halogen – CARiD.com

I personally prefer to drive with fog lights activated in the dark driving (city or highway) for additional lighting lower to the ground and out to the sides of the road regardless of inclement weather (i.e., fog). Plus i like the symmetrical look of the two headlights on either side of the car and two fog logs below on either side. Do note that typically, most vehicles will only use fog lights with the low beams. If high beams are activated, the fog lights automatically turn off but will turn back on when switching back to low beams. As far as laws, I am not sure but best check with local and state in your area.
