Text Alerts through Bluetooth Issue

When my Android phone is connected via Bluetooth, the infotainment system alerts me to a text and who is texting. However, it also alerts on up to 2 other texts simultaneously that I received in the past from different people. Anyone else seeing this issue and know if there is a fix? For example, Mike sends me a text. The infotainment shows a text from Mike on the screen. But also, a notification from Matt, and Mark come up but they have not texted me.

I have not been able to find a fix for this yet. It drives me absolutely nuts to the point where I don't even one it hooked up to my Bluetooth in the car now. I was able to discover that it only happens When people who have iphones text me and it is more than one text. I have an android, I thought an update to the phone would fix this however it does not. I have other vehicles that do not do this.

None that I'm aware of. Even the latest firmware update did not fix it.

I took it to the dealer several time and all there phone did it too they had no answer to what was causing it so I deleted all my text conversations on my phone and started from scratch and it worked maybe give it a try and see I also downloaded a app on my phone called textra and saved all the old conversations on there in my phone see if this works for you

Same issue. I have an android too. I even disconnected and reconnected it.

Interesting to know it happens in the Palisade as well. Makes sense since the technology is the same. I recently updated to 14.5 but got so used to not using text alerts that I forgot about this issue. I'll have to do some testing now. Anyone on 14.5 and having the problem?

This happens in my wife's 2017 Ford Escape with her Android phone, too. That tells me it has nothing to do with the car and everything to do with Android.

It's happening to me, too, even after doing the 14.5 update. Almost every time I send a group text with my phone paired to the car--whether Bluetooth or Android Auto--I get one or two notifications for texts from 2017. I submitted a customer assistance request at Kia.com and was quickly contacted by a customer service rep. She said they haven't received other reports of this phenomenon, and advised me to take the vehicle to a dealer to have it checked out. I doubt there's much a dealer could do about this, and the issue really doesn't bother me that much, but I may mention it when I go in for my first oil change just to document it again. I just hope I haven't opened up time portal to 2017.

Actually i just updated to 14.5 last week, it took 2.5 hours. After I completed the updated I tested it by having someone with an IPhone text me several times in a row and it did not happen. It is finally fixed for me. That was such a pain.

I'm guessing you did the full update vs the quick option. The quick option takes about 30 minutes. Despite this, 14.5 DID NOT fix the issue for me and in my experience it's not just an iphone thing. I hope it is really fixed for you. I've given up on it and don't even use the text notification option anymore.

Yes, I did the full. Maybe if you try that, you might have better success. I have a Galaxy Note 10 and it only happened when iphone peyote people text me 2x in a row. The 2nd text would look like and message from someone who texted me years ago. It is not doing it anymore.

Sorry to report that the problem came back. It started when I paired another phone to the car and have 2 phone paired to the Bluetooth at the same time. I am gong to disable one of the phones to see if that makes a difference

I have to connect to CarPlay in order for the notifications to sound off via the display. I asked the dealer and I was told it was a setting on the phone, but the phone doesn't have the "notification" button to turn on. Not sure what it can be.

This is a different problem than everyone else in this thread has been discussing, but I’ll try to help...

Go (on your phone) to settings > Bluetooth and select the little “i” on the line for your Telluride (it probably says Kia Motors). The first item on that screen should be a toggle for show notifications... make sure that’s turned on.

Definitely an android problem rather than a KIA problem. I read a bunch of posts laying out a similar problem on a Tesla board as well as a Ford board.
