• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... The 2023 Towing Saga Part 2 - Finally good news!

I have seen the templates for the trailer bumper cover cutouts but does someone have one for the OEM with the 7 pin plate? thanks.
Post #31 on this thread. The OP did a great job documenting everything on this thread.

Got my 7-pin wiring harness from Hyundai yesterday and installed it today. Ordered Feb 17, arrived at my door June 6. Easy install, and works perfectly. The system also disables the autonomous braking in reverse and silences the constant warnings so you don't have to manually do it in the settings. The kit is made for the Palisade so some of the instructions don't apply but it's easy to figure it out. Finally happy.
How long did you wait to get the harness?

Sorry all I had to do was read the message and the answer was there.

Thanks to Tyger23’s test confirming the Palisade harness worked, I ordered my harness on 26 May and it arrived 6 June.

Note: Hyundaiparts Canada called on 27 May to notify me the part was on back-order. I was then notified via email on 1 June the harness had shipped. I feel extremely fortunate for the quick turn, especially compared to others that waited months!

Which Hyundai parts did you use? HyundaiPartsOnline or HyundaiPartsPro?

does anyone have a tow harness from canada that they want to sell or trade?

i have one on order, but could use one ASAP if someone has one that could wait a few until mine came in..

thanks

I received my tow harness from Canada that I ordered back in March. Thank you tyger23 for your instructions; I followed them mostly, but I was able to avoid removing the scuff plate trim, luggage bin trim, and d-pillar trim. I had previously installed an OEM tow hitch (model S9F61-AU000). I connected my teardrop trailer and all the lights on it work! When the trailer is connected the lights on the dial for my Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty electric brake controller come on (when the trailer is not connected the brake controller lights are off). To plug-and-play connect the brake controller I used a "Tekonsha 3081-P Trailer Brake Controller Harness" to connect to the Redarc's "Tekonsha Wiring Harness suitable Tow-Pro Brake Controller Harness (TPH-017)". I mounted the brake controller under the dash and plugged it into the vehicle's plug that is under there. I just made a campground reservation for this weekend! Looking forward to finally towing with my Telluride!

I received my harness from Hyundai Parts Pro today (ordered May 28 and shipped June 8). I installed it using the instructions from Tyger23 although the instructions that come with the harness are spot on. I recommend following them although it's not necessary to completely remove the left rear interior quarter trim. Also, if you do not have a factory hitch you will need a bracket to mount the connector. I did install the module to the bracket and mounted it as recommended but had to route the harness on the back side of the module to allow clearance under the rear transverse panel.

Thank you very much for all the information and trouble shooting. I have ordered my part # S8F67AC800 today. Thank you very much for you detailed write up Tyger23 using bracket pollock 12-711UP. I am curious what other options are available. What mounting boxes are people using to attach their 7 way?

Others on this thread state that they installed the hitch with part number S9F61-AU000, designed for model years 2020-2022. I found the part on several websites, but when I ran the "fitment" test on these sites they all stated that the part would not fit my 2023 EX X-Line. My thought had been to install that hitch with the Canadian Pallisade harness discussed above and a brake controller. I'm new to all this and would appreciate some help in understanding this Thanks.

I just found another thread addressing this and stating that once the mounting bolts are torqued down the bar fits just fine. I think I will ignore the "fitment" warning and order the part.

I installed this on my '23 a few weeks ago and had no problems, torqued bolts to spec. It was an easy install but I did purchase an exhaust hanger removal tool in preparation. I did it by myself with the back wheels on ramps, but having a friend to help support the weight would have been helpful.

I received my wiring harness from Hyundai Parts Pro and installed it yesterday thanks to tyger23's detailed posts. I bought a 7-blade to 4-pin adaptor that plugs into it and my boat trailer lights work perfectly. Just in time as I leave for a long weekend of boating tomorrow. My Kia dealership told me two weeks ago they recognize that harness part number as legitimate but it's still not in their system to order. Crazy.

What is the spec for torquing the bolts?

Anyone know what the difference is between the S9F61-AU000 and the S9F61-AU002? The S9F61-AU000 is showing as "Discontinued" at a couple of KIA OEM parts stores.

EDIT: Never mind. Found the answer on another thread. Likely the same, just with a price increase.

So as of today, what are 2023 owners still missing from piecing together a full OEM hitch setup? Just the OEM plastic bumper trim piece that matches the hitch and 7 pin plug?

My point being, what advantages are there for waiting until KIA installs them at a dealership vs doing what you guys did and piece it all together?

I have a HUGE need to tow, but want it installed and to look OEM…
Can anyone confirm or deny if the "2020-2022 Kia Telluride part # S9F61AU060 - Tow Hitch Cover" trim piece that has the cutouts for the tow hitch and connector would fit a 2023 Telluride? Or are those trim areas different enough that it won't work?
