The 2023 Towing Saga Part 2 - Finally good news!

Interestingly as I was tapping my last splice putting on e trailer splice in harness 4 pin,I got a phone call from Kia Customer Service.....They said that they now have a limited tow hitch parts an if I still needed one .....Told me as they did another fellow on this blog that the problem was supply chain problems????So it looks like the tow saga may be coming to an end.....I used an etrailer by Curt hitch an their splice in wire harness for the Telluride to finish my towing needs as I only pull a 10 ft Utility trailer...Call ur dealer as see if they have gotten this info.....

I'm sure a lot of folks who installed the Kia hitch will want to know what that 2023-2024 tow hitch bumper cover part number is!

Thank you Tyger23!! another successful install of the Hyundai tow harness on the 23 Telluride!!

There's not a great place to attach it. I did use double stick tape, and I tried to attach it as far back inside the D-Pillar as possible (basically below the rear taillight area). Not sure if it worked well or not. I haven't gone back in to check yet.

Hi, does anyone knows if this will work on a 2024 CARNIVAL LX?

First off, 3 cheers to Tyger23 for that write-up. The detail is outstanding. I'd offer a 12 pack if I knew where to send it.

I bought the Hyundai harness from HyundaiPartsPro for about $164 US, with $86 shipping. Ouch.

I did deviate from the installation instructions a little. Instead of the Pollak bracket, I got the Curt 58510 through Home Depot for $1.65 with free ship to store. It's the same height as the Pollak but 2.75" wide vs 3.0". That just made my cutout a bit narrower.

My spacers needed to be 1.625" long so that the 7 way connector cover didn't put pressure on the rear splash panel.

I also decided to replace Tyger23's deck screws with #10-24 x 3" pan head phillips screws. I fastened those with #10 flat washers, #10 split lock washers, and #10-24 nuts. I was afraid that all the vibration may wear out the plastic that the screws threaded into. My screws could probably be 2.5" long instead of 3.0" but the extra length doesn't hurt.

The e-brake connector with the harness I bought is compatible with the one under the dash which has 4 blades. I've heard here that some of the newer telly's have a 6 blade connector for that. Why didn't they wait for the next model year to come out for that? I don't know what those guys are thinking. I'm glad that I bought mine last December.

I’ve read several places Kia is now saying ‘23 harness is in production. Has anyone confirmed the part #?

The Hyundai site listed the 2023 Palisade harness last Wednesday and the instruction sheet. Says the hitch is not available until Fall '23. The harness install sheet is listed there for download and it shows the PN's for the hitches as well. hyundaiaccessories.com (Listed the new harness PN S8F67-AC700)

I found several USA Hyundai parts sites showing the new harness S8F67-AC700 and S8F61-AU300 Hitch Calligraphy with bumper cover for sale. I canceled the S8F67AC800 Canadian harness I had on order and ordered the USA version part number last Wednesday and it is delivering to my home tomorrow (Monday 8/14/23) hyundaipartsdeal.com

Knowing the hitch is not available yet S8F61-AU300, figured I'd get my name on one anyway. Ordered it too via hyundaipartsdeal.com Sales contacted me and said not in production till October and I asked to keep it on order and they did. Two days later, they canceled my order stating the PN is not valid. Unless there will be a PN revision, Im guessing they do not want or cant order a not yet in production part number. So, I will keep checking each week to see if it can be ordered or if there is a new PN.

Hope all this helps.

Excellent news! I'm sure you will keep us all posted and perhaps how your harness install goes

The only GOOD NEWS will be when KIA finally opens the floodgates and sends out KIA hitches for the Telluride, 7-pin wiring harnesses for the Telluride (so you don't have to go to Canada and buy a Hyundai harness and pay their shipping), AND a KIA bumper knock-out piece matching the color of your bumper (maybe they are all black?)!

The prices on the US parts were more than i paid for my canada harness with shipping actually! Definitely need a bumper piece tho. But my cutout came out decent so i might just leave it alone.

Just curious why Kia or Hyundai America does not sell the harness in the states, do we have different safety regulations or does the harness still pose a fire threat and it can’t get approved here. Just worried it has the same issues as last years, as I don’t know that Kia or Hyundai know what caused the previous years problem as people were told to take out the fuse until a remedy is found.
The old harness controller was mounted external under the jack compartment. The 7 pin harness controller that's available from HyundaiPartsPro is mounted inside the jack compartment. Water would intrude the controller and cause a short, thus causing a fire.
For the new harness, the controller is mounted inside the jack compartment and stays dry.

It is good news. It's identical to the Canadian harness. Install will be the same. I will document it in photos, but not video as that takes way too long to install that way.

I'll try to get the time this weekend and post as some of the other postings of the process have been a bit confusing.

Well, what I've seen so far for the Palisade is that the harness is out now as I have it in hand ( I thought it was the same as the Telluride, but don't take my word). And Hyundai shows on the harness page the Palisade hitch with the bumper panel is a combo PN. One for Calligraphy and one for the other Trims. Both PN's show that will be available Fall '23.

With that, maybe the Kia bois will get it posted soon for you all.

Yes, for the 2020-2022. That does seem to have been the issue.
For the 2023 model Palisade and Tellurides, that is all internal now inside the jack compartment area. The 4pin plug is inside, and the outside plug is the 7pin. Much better design IMO.

Now, just need the 2023 hitch to be released this fall as Hyundai has posted. #soon

Oh, BTW, the 4pin/7pin harness that HyundaiPartsPro sells for the 2023's is the new PN that mounts inside the vehicle.

I got this when I tried to buy the harness from this dealer.

The tow hitch harness as well as the tow hitch are currently not available due to a quality hold for these parts. Hyundai has not released a date for sales of these parts. We will be cancelling your order and a refund will be processed in the next 1-2 business days.

The harness is available for sale. Its listed on the factory Hyundai accessory site. And i just recieved the harness from
hyundaipartsdeal.com Try them.

The hitch as i stated above is not yet available. hyundaipartsdeal.com
also told me the hitch is not yet available which jives with the date Hyundai stated of fall 23 (October 10th'ish).

These parts places and the dealers give a lot of wrong answers....

my head hurts

BTW, here are some photos of the new USA harness as I unboxed it.
