• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... The Ultimate Telluride Windshield Chip/Cracking Discussion

Today received a letter from Kia, stating that they are aware of chips and cracks happening in Telluride windshields. It says that replacement s will be covered and cars will be provided while the replacement is made. Also, included a form to recover any prior replacement of windshields which have been paid for by owners! I guess it pays to complain.

Any way to pst a copy of that letter?? ( black out personal data of course) Might be a helpful reference for any us down the road who incur an issue......

I'm sure all owners will receive this letter, it was listed as being from Kia Satisfaction branch/office, I immediately put it in my car. I just wanted to alert everyone to look for their copy after reading posts about the problem and checking my insurance policy for full glass replacement coverage.

I got this letter on Saturday and have not hd any windshield problems yet, so I'm going to guess everybody will get one.

I got it yesterday as well. I haven't had any issues but with northeast winter weather here there will be a lot more road debris getting kicked up.

I never received a letter but I got a tiny rock chip on Saturday Nov 16th and 15 minutes later I now have a 6 inch crack on my windshield. Did everyone just get a letter??

I haven't received the letter yet, but the Pony Express may have gotten hung up in Wisconsin's early snowfall...
I have several minute "nicks" in the windshield from small stones, but thankfully nothing else.

If they send this letter to everyone, then it's called a RECALL.

Seatbelt, windshield, tellyvibe, markups, delays, CR#9 ranking... oh boy, it's starting to ADD UP!

Not sure why anyone thinks KIA corporate has any control over what their independently owned dealerships charge for the car. MSRP - Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price. The dealership can charge whatever they want.

It is obviously and issue and, while I don't even have my SX yet, I am grateful that KIA is reaching out to people BEFORE it becomes a federally "forced" issue........It speaks well of them.

So after Kia sent me the letter about the windshield issues it made me look closely at mine and lo and behold I found 5 to 6 chips in it, though right now they are very small, they are there, hope this does not turn into a big issue but starting to think more about Kia brand and the Telluride I drive.

At least they are being pro active, other manufacturers would probably say tough luck. I know the Subaru was having problems with theirs also, wonder if they got letters saying Subaru would replace theirs? I'm happy with Kia and to see they are proactive to issues.

Yay! This is awesome

I have been fortunate to own a variety of new cars over the past 10yrs and have noticed that "windshield chipping" is an issue on ALL....something in the manufacture process of the glass has changed....so I don't think it's just a KIA issue. That being said, "cracking" is another story and that cannot be tollerated.

I got an extremely small rock chip on the passengers side on Saturday, 15 minutes later I had a 4” crack that has grown to 8” now. I went to the dealership today and showed them the letter I received today and the dealership has ordered a windshield for me. I would suggest you get the chips fixed ASAP.

When did you receive your Telly?? I am wondering if KIA has addressed this issue in the production process???

I got the same letter in the mail today. I’m located New Jersey.

We got the letter today. What we have is an abundance of very tiny chips that looks like it was hit with a thousand minute stones or large sand. Nothing happened on the road. I first became aware of them after going through a car wash. If it truly happened at the car wash, it would seem to be a faulty windshield.

Great question Blitt. I’d like to know as well bc Mine was an October production. Wonder which month production(s) are affected?
