Thule Cross Bar Installed

Finally got the fit kit KT 4113 from Thule. Perfect fit...




Here are some pictures of the fit kit and cross bar.

@jazzyone - thanks for posting this as our telluride is set to arrive next friday. How was the wind noise with the wingbar evo 135?

We have a Q5 now with OEM cross bars and the wind noise is horrendous. I imagine that it can't get worse than that and we've had it for 8 years now so I think I'll be fine regardless.

Did you have any considerations of getting the wingbar evo vs the aeroblade?

At the current mounting location, the wind noise from the WingBar is really minimal. I don't even notice it.

I chose the WingBar instead of the Aeroblade primarily because I like the style better. Secondarily, it provides a wider load carrying surface to carry more gear.

Sorry for bumping this somehow old thread

I bought the OEM ones cause I was on a road trip and needed something immediate and couldn't find the Thule ones. I think I paid around $400 after tax.
Besides look - what are the advantages of getting the Thule kit? I wonder if I should sell the OEM ones and get the Thule.
I lease my Telluride and don't think I'll purchase it on lease termination which makes the KIA OEM useless for me.
As I understand with the Thule I can just buy another adapter for my next car?
Also looks like Thule can carry more (220 vs 160?)
Any other reasons I should get the Thule? Is it even worth the hassle or should I just wait until my lease ends and decide then?

The Thule (or any other major aftermarket rack) is a system. As a results there are more accessories and attachments supporting various loads and cargo. If you not using it for those purposes, other than the increased capacity and "looks", then OEM should suffice.

But doesn't that mean I have to invest $400-500 every time I get a new car? Isn't it smarter financially to get the Thule and just buy adapters with every new car?

I’ve searched the entire Internet and have yet to come up with the answer to the maximum spread of the crossbars (Sorry if I missed it here). I will be carrying a 15 foot kayak. My current Mercedes ML allows the crossbars to attach and be completely usable at the extreme front and rear of the rails, providing a very wide base to carry a kayak and without the need to tie down the front and rear to the bumpers. I plan to use the Thule Wingbar 135 bars.
Can crossbars mount to the extreme front and rear rails on a Telluride? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I had the same question before I purchased the Thule crossbars because I am carrying kayaks. Here is the answer: Thule Cross Bar Installed

@tazzytazzy @Jasman In my case I am carrying lightweight composite kayaks so the total load on the bars is relatively small. As mentioned above, this Thule system uses a clamp style mount so it can technically be mounted anywhere along the rail. To be safe, I would contact the manufacturer for more details on your specific application.

In case it's helpful, this is the (apparently Telluride-specific) guide for the Heka crossbars. I believe these are the recommended crossbar locations to support the highest load on the Telluride, but I don't know what kind of guidance they would provide if you were to move the crossbars all the way front and back.. The Heka attachments are clamp style so you could technically mount them anywhere along the rails.

Look like they changed the designed of the feet. 460R is what I have and looks like the Evo Flush Rail is new.

IDK if they still sell the 460R Podium, but you'll need Fit kit 184114/4113. For the Evo Flush Rail Feet, you'll need 186095. Personally, I like the looks of the Rapid Podium over the Flush Fail Feet..

I didn't get the AeroBlade Edge, I got the WingBar, so I can't answer your question about the sunroof.

You probably already know that the "Kit" is the Rubber part (and maybe the hook) that mates the foot to the rail. The Fit Kit is car specific. The other parts are generic/universal (with the exception of the bar's length itself). That being said, go with what the Thule website says is required for the KT for your specific configuration.
