• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Trim levels. It's hard to tell what you get with each trim level.

Now I am trying to figure out the difference between the X-Line and the X-Pro. I see the wheels are different. What else am I missing?

Ok, thanks guys. No plans to go off road. And I also don't tow anything. So I can probably rule out the X-Pro.
I would consider the X-Line. My car on order is one, and I've gone this route because it is closest thing (exterior) today to the Nightfall look of 2022 and before.

I have gone with Dawning Red and Terracota interior. I have a Wolf Gray Sorento now, and love the color but am ready for a change.

Yeah, right now I am leaning towards an SX X-Line or X-Line Prestige. What color exterior did you go with?

Get the Prestige version - you'll be glad you did even though it is more bucks. I earlier outlined the difference between the two. Things like HDA2, HUD, Nappa leather -- once you experience them, you'll never want to without.

Exterior is Dawning Red.

I should add that by "experiencing", I am not talking about a test drive. You have to put some hours behind the wheel. To many car reviewers, KIA leads the field in their cameras and safety electronics. I know they have saved my butt a time or two!

Here is a list of features on an SX vs EX from my sticker for reference.

Also, just to add a little more to the confusion, Mahogany interior is actually listed as Black on the sticker (and on search sites like cars.com). The Mahogany Interior Color Package is listed under "Additional Installed Equipment". So good luck finding it.

You blocked out all the interesting parts .......... 😆 ;)

It's kind of annoying that something like driver's memory seat is only available on the top SX trim models. This is a trend with auto manufacturer's recently, to withhold options that people have come accustomed to and use to come on the mid level trim packages, and then only make them available on the higher trim levels. Kind of disappointing that you can spend $45k on a car, and you don't get simple things like memory seat/mirrors or homelink garage opener.

Agreed, those are basic convenience items that should be included. One day they will be on the base model, back in the day power windows were a premium add-on!

At least Kia hasn't moved to the subscription model like BMW. Want heated seats? That's $18 per month.

It's going to run you a lot more than $45k .......

To get memory seat? Yeah. For a Telluride, I am definitely looking at $55k ish. I just find it sad that you can spend $45k or more for a car and still don't get simple features like memory seats.

I went through this recently when I was buying my daughter a new VW Tiguan. She wanted a specific trim with the R-Line package and black wheels. No matter how I wanted to configure it, I couldn't get memory seats unless I went to the top trim level.

Now a days, with 6, 8, 10 way power adjustable seats, it's almost impossible to get the seat back where you had it once a family member changes it. Even if you get it back to exactly where it was, you still never feel confident that it's in the right spot so you keep messing with it lol.

A lot of people need to reset their thinking on how much things cost. The average new car sold in the US is currently around $48,000. $45,000 is not an expensive car that should have everything on it by definition of how much it costs, especially when you consider that the Telluride is on the larger side of things. There have to be some concessions on lower trims. And once you step up to the SX and SX-P, you get many things that typically require much higher pricetags or aren’t even available on much pricier cars.

The average price over the last couple of years likely includes dealer markups since that was the norm. The dealer wanted an 11k markup on a Telly when I tried buying it in 2021, and in 2023 that markup fell to a few hundred bucks. The actual average cost of a new card sold is probably much lower once we have stats for 2023.

No -- I mean to settle with your dealer -- assuming the $45k was MSRP?
I was just talking in general terms. But as an example, my local Kia dealer had a Telluride EX with a sticker price of $48k with a $6k markup. So that's $54k and still no memory seats in a Kia which is considered a brand that you will get more for less.

Edited to show $6k markup, not the $4k I originally posted.

I think you are missing my point. I am not talking about only Kia. I am saying that memory seats, at one time, was included in mid level trims of most cars. Many cars came with memory seats once you upgraded to power seating. Now many manufacturer's are taking away features that we have gotten accustomed to, and saying if you want these simple features that you are use to having, you need to purchase the top trim level to get them. So, with the Telluride, if you get a fully equipped EX with leather and power seats, you still need to go a step higher, to the SX, for memory seats.

To be fair, the SX trim is middle of the pack.

Just to be fair to BMW, they don't charge for heated seats in the US other than what's built into the original purchase price of the car. So the same with Kia and other manufacturer's.

Not really. SX is the top trim and you can get it with the Prestige package that gives you the other few extras. At least that's the way I look at it.
In my thinking (and I admit I don't think like everyone else) I am not too far off - there are 4 trims below the SX and 5 above it. If you look at it from a cost angle, it starts with the LX at $35,990. The SX is $45,790. The very top of the heap is the SX-Prestige, X-Pro at $53,185. So cost wise this swings the SX above the middle but not by a lot.

BUT, I kind of see where you are coming from - if you toss out the X trims (X-Line and Pro) that are aligned with various trims from the middle upward, you are left with 5 basic trims. The SX is 4 out of 5, putting it kind of in your designation. o_O
