This is good advice. In addition, if the password you used on any Kia site is the same as you used in any other place, now's the time to change that. All things being equal keep an eye out on your credit and stuff folks.
Think I already know the answer but, assuming Failcat Scrape is directly impacted by this hostage data as well?Wow..![]()
Except at the bottom of that story, Kia says the rumors are not true:Looks like it was ransomware attack. Kia Motors America suffers ransomware attack, $20 million ransom
Kia Motors America, Inc. (“Kia”) is currently experiencing an extended systems outage. Affected systems include the Kia Owners Portal, UVO Mobile Apps, and the Consumer Affairs Web portal. We apologize for any inconvenience to affected customers, and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible with minimal interruption to our business. We are also aware of online speculation that Kia is subject to a “ransomware” attack. At this time, we can confirm that we have no evidence that Kia or any Kia data is subject to a “ransomware” attack.
Seems like a lot of evidence for someone to make up. I'm sure there won't be a true story until the lawyers make a statement. I work in IT and for a major company to be down this long its something big other than lost power / failed hardware. I guess we will see.Except at the bottom of that story, Kia says the rumors are not true:
Should we start a Go Fund Me for Kia?kias been hacked. There’s a $20M ransomware. That’s what’s causing these outages.

Kia Motors America suffers ransomware attack, $20 million ransom
Kia Motors America has suffered a ransomware attack by the DoppelPaymer gang, demanding $20 million for a decryptor and not to leak stolen data.www.bleepingcomputer.com
Yes!! It’s been a week now ... it is driving me nuts since I can’t start my vehicle and it’s cold and snowing outsideSo today I tried to check where's my car to see where my wife was on her trip home from town. Got a pop up that says "we are experiencing difficulties with our systems and will be back on line soon...." Ok, fair enough, but now my wife is driving into town to babysit the granddaughter and I'm getting "Geo Fence Alerts" every few seconds on my iPhone. It's driving me crazy!
Anyone else seeing this problem or Kia Access not working today?
I don't have a problem with you. My last post was out of line and I apologize.I don't know what your problem is with me as I have been trying to agree with you from your first post. This is the last I will comment on this subject.
Wonder if Kia paid the ransomit is back up now - just remote started
I hope they learned a big lesson and implement a more robust architecture.Wonder if Kia paid the ransom
Expect we'll see a price increase on their line.I hope they learned a big lesson and implement a more robust architecture.
Wonder if Kia paid the ransom
As an identity theft victim that has had to deal with this before now, for me this has never been about the usefulness or not of the app but the security of my data and the lack of transparency of KIA in letting us know what happened and how they are going to protect this info in the future.Confirmed and great news, now we don’t have to see multiple threads from those people who thought the world was caving in. Guess for a few weeks the topic will be mass lawsuits and how they can be paid for all the suffering and heartache caused
