Prestige, Nightfall, TowingWhat is PNT?
Glad it worked out for you. I don't live too far from this dealership but I passed when I called to ask about the markup. It works for some to get it sooner and for others to wait. I have one on order from Gossett Kia in Memphis and will drive a little over the same distance that you took to get up here to Cartersville. Originally quoted 4-6 months but saw someone else just picked theirs up from Gossett at 10 weeks.Purchased our 2022 EX Premium + Nightfall in Wolf Gray with black interior, with towing package, carpet 1st/2nd/3rd row mats, cargo cover, cargo liner, and mud guards on Friday, 1/28/22 from Matthews Kia in Cartersville, GA.
We started our Telluride hunt only about 2 weeks ago, which is when I ended up on this site and learning about failcat. I am located in southeast GA about an hour from Savannah. We only wanted Wolf Gray Nightfall with black interior and EX, and were +/- on tow package and other add-ons. After checking failcat earlier in the week, last Wednesday night 1/26 I emailed all dealers in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina who showed a Wolf Gray EX with black interior VIN in failcat from December 1 up to current date and asked if they had any arriving on dealer allocation and/or any that were ordered for a customer but turned down upon arrival. I had mentally prepared myself that I may have to do that twice a week indefinitely LOL.
I was contacted the very next day (Thursday 1/27) around noon by sales agent Seth at Matthews Kia in Cartersville, GA stating they had one arrive that day that was ordered for another buyer but she declined it after seeing the color and she chose a Gravity Gray they received on allocation instead (I also got contacted by almost all of the other dealers stating all of the VINs I provided them were preorders for customers, but they would be happy to order for me with a 3 month minimum wait and minimum 10% markup).
Based on the VIN I had sent Matthews (from failcat) which was the same VIN they said had just been delivered (they sent me the window sticker), my Wolf Gray EX had a "created" date of 1/19 in failcat and was delivered to them on 1/27. They let me know immediately that the markup was 15% over the MSRP build on the KIA website and window sticker. I gave them a $500 deposit on my credit card (which would have been 100% refundable had things not worked out) and picked it up the next day, Friday 1/28. No unexpected additional charges when I arrived, and no pressure to buy a service contract, additional warranty, insurance, or "protection package," etc.
I paid 15% markup over MSRP but for me it was worth not having to wait 3-6+ months for an order, (especially after reading horror stories here of orders being sold), paying up to $1500 to have it delivered from some MSRP dealer across the country, or losing income per day out of the office to go pick it up somewhere for MSRP and drive across the country to bring it back, and risking depreciation on my trade over 3-6+ months. Also, I got the 1.9% rate for 60 months, and I was thinking that rate may not be available after 1/31 (turns out I was right-now only 2.49 through Kia). I traded a 2017 Acadia Limited FWD with 107,000 miles in good condition and got $20,000 on trade for it, which I applied as credit toward the purchase of the Telluride and saved some on sales tax (plus did not want to deal with the hassle of selling it myself). My local GM dealer appraised it at $19K, and I got an online Vroom offer for $19,400, a Carmax online offer of $17,400 and a Carvana online offer of $17,200.
The dealership and sales agent Seth were very straightforward about everything and let me know right out of the gate about the markup. Several other dealers across Georgia, SC, NC, and Alabama did not mention a markup but when I got a quote for the build the quote would be 10-15% over markup and then they would disclose it but say "our markup is less than anyone else in the Southeast," or even worse would call it some kind of "protection" or "advantage" plan.
I ordered Smartliner mats for 1st/2nd/3rd row and space between captains chairs on Sunday and they were delivered to me yesterday, and we are very happy with them. I have a set of black Telluride carpet mats if anyone is interested. Not impressed with the Kia cargo liner, it is thin, slick plastic and although there is velcro on the back it slides around. And, in order to raise the third row you have to remove it. So, I cut the rear third away from it and we are using it just for the space behind the third row. Thinking about getting the Canadian premium Telly cargo liner but its $$$.
I ordered a 2022 Telluride today but did not get the mats as my options were limited to 6. I would be interested in purchasing the your black telluride mats. Let me know if you still have them. I am just looking for base LX AWD in Washington / Oregon. I contacted 12 dealership around here and lowest offer was 2k over msrp waiting time for 4-6 months. I am surprised that even lx dealer mark up is 4k to 10k. Who is paying 10k over msrp for LX? Any recommendations dealer in WA or oregon?
I just placed an order with a dealership out of state. Only 400 miles away, but worth the travel due to ridiculous mark ups locally. I refuse to pay $61,000 for a local used 2021 Telluride with 17,000 miles on it. Moss color, Nightfall, but no tow package, and no Prestige package, with butterscotch interior. AND loss of the full factory warranty. If you can find a dealer willing to order a kia for you at MSRP and you're positive its what you want, order it. The dealer I ordered through didn't require a down nor did they say I HAD to take possession of the vehicle when it comes in. Shop around and ask questions. Most dealers are asking $8,000-$12,000 over MSRP. The dealer I worked with said they don't require a down because they know they can mark the vehicle up and sell it at a horrendous profit if I choose to not purchase. Hows that for honesty?Wondering about expectations for price off msrp—my dealer is now taking orders but will only do it for msrp. Any ideas about negotiating price or expected rebates/incentives? Are other Kia models discounted much?
If I may ask what state are you in and where was the dealership that you drove 400 miles to? Thanks in advance.I just placed an order with a dealership out of state. build your car on Kia.com and Edmunds. Get an idea of your MSRP.
Some dealerships offers military, student and other incentives, however due to the demand for the Telluride, Kia isn't offering any at this time that I am aware of. I did ask.
Maybe they charged me extra for fast delivery...ordered 10/13/21 picked up 12/8/21.$52,000 for a front wheel drive? Yikes
