Went to 2 dealers today. We were offered a $3000 discount which I'm assuming is the $1,500 financing rebate and a $1,000 competitor rebate on an EX. Also was told you cannot combine the 0.9% at 48 months or 1.9% at 60 months or you lose the $1,500 rebate. I thought it came out that you could do both from the reddit post that leaked the special offers.

The other dealer would only take $1,500 and 1,000 off an S trim with a crappy 4.99% at 60 months.

Both also lowballed our trades vs Honda, Subaru and Mazda and Hyundai offered by about 1,500.

Loved the Telluride just not the experience at the Dealership so far. They seem to be really the pressuring type. I mean i know there in high demand but jeesh lol.

At least in west Texas, the competitor and loyalty rebates are able to be combined with the 0.9% 48 month rate,

Kia has there offers posted online now...https://www.kia.com/us/en/offers/2020/20176?series=telluride&offers=3,2,1,4

And we're not going to see good discounts for 6mo to 1yr. No car is discounted well when it first launches, dealers have low inventory and there's high demand. Early adopters always pay a bit more to be first.

Well my disappointment is the $1,500 rebate is only good if u finance with them at higher rates.

I can't find any good incentives either. There are so many people paying full price, they really don't have any incentive to offer anything right now. I'm trying to hold out, but the alternative for me isn't to cave and buy the Telluride (as much as I love it). I'm trying not to just give up completely and just get the Highlander or CRV. I know feature wise they don't compare, but I already feel comfortable with the reliability factor and I have already been shopping around for 1 year and a half so waiting 6 months to see a good deal on these Tellurides feels like forever to me.

Hello all, my first post on this forum. What a wealth of information here!

I'm located in MA and one dealer happen to have a few EX AWD models. I test drove it today but I'm ultimately looking for an SX Prestige. This dealer quoted me $46,800 which does include an extended warranty offered by the dealer. This is pretty much MSRP and I had to walk away.

Welcome James! Yes, there is definitely a lot of helpful information here. It will especially be useful when deals do start rolling in. Right now it seems like we are all pretty much being quoted MSRP, with the exception of $1000-$2000 some maybe seeing from financing incentives or loyalty discounts. I experienced the same today. They had 3 EX models and 1 S, but no SX or SX Prestige. I’m hoping I can hold out at least until Memorial Day weekend. Historically it seems like Kia has some pretty hefty incentives around then. I’m just wondering if they will be as good for the Telluride. I hope so!

It would be wise to keep in mind that these are 2020 model year vehicles. It is interesting. If these came out with an MSRP that was three to four grand higher, you'd all be jumping at the chance to pay what the actual MSRP is today. Just because they'd be discounted.

Quite the psychological phenomenon. Kia actually put a vehicle out that is worth the asking price. Even the first lease residuals percentages reflect this fact.

It'll be a year before we start to see any significant discounts on the new Telluride. If you want a telluride, buy the one you like when you find it. Life is short.

Yup, they did price the vehicle very fairly. In fact, I was shocked how reasonable the pricing was.

But that still isn’t gonna stop me from haggling my brains out to try to get an AWD SX Prestige for $41,000 or less (before incentives, dagnabbit!). I know that ain’t gonna happen now, but things might be very different in six months.

Oh no doubt at all they are worth it. But if it was 3k more I would not pay this price, because it is outside of my budget I set a year and a half ago which is why I'm waiting. So it's discount or bust for me. There's no psychological trickery at play. I could just pay the overage, but then it wouldn't be a budget now would it, lol. This is also the reason I indicated giving in for me would mean sticking with my original plans which were to get a Toyota or Honda. The other alternative though, since you mentioned the lease incentives, would be to lease and then buy because it appears you get more rebates for leasing, but I have no experience with that and would have to research it a bit more. I'm all about living life, but I have other ways to get my thrills. This ain't it, LOL.

I am in the same boat as you. But only been shopping for 4 months. Still another 4 feels like forver.
For me, it's down to the Honda Pilot Elite Trim or the Telluride SX.
Honda is agressive in discounts to where I'm getting similar feature set and similar price to the Telluride with the Pilot.
I'll probably test drive the Telluride this week and then decide between the two.
The difference in treatment at dealerships is quite stark already. Kia dealerships are just so much worse than Honda. Honda treats me so well. Low pressure. Honest communication. No smoke. No mirrors. At Kia the experience has been so poor so far that I'm not sure I can suffer the process.

Be prepared, you're going to love it when you test drive it! But then again, if you don't I guess it will make things a lot easier, lol. The salesman I dealt with at the Kia dealership was very patient and not pushy at all, but I found that I knew more about the car than he did, which was a bit strange to me considering it's such a highly anticipated vehicle. This was my first time test driving a Kia but I was a bit amazed that he was a unsure of some of the basics. Other than that it was ok. Maybe because it was pouring rain and I was the only customer there so it was a pretty mellow experience. Please come back and tell me how you felt about the Pilot test-drive vs the Telluride.

I’m in the market 1 year from today and hope to find a used 2020 SX Prestige for right at $40k or below. I think it’s quite possible

I thought for sure my next car was going to be a Pilot. The old Pilots were way too boxy for me, but I really like how the current gen (2016+) Pilot looks. On the outside, anyway.

The Pilot’s instrumentation is hideous. The digital speedometer in the 2016-2018 Pilot looks like it was pulled right from a 1986 Buick Skylark. Scratch that. The Skylark’s was nicer. The gauges are gaudy and ugly. The 2019 update helped things with the more computerized instrumentation, but it still looks very dated.

I took a 2016 Pilot EX-L out for a test drive last year. It was nice enough. It was comfortable enough. But that horrible instrumentation! And the deal killer... the seat belts didn’t fit me! It wasn’t even close! Deal killa right there.

When I jumped into the Telluride a few days ago, I was instantly in love. Beautiful outside (looks like the Pilot after a mega dose of testosterone, a good thing, IMHO), beautiful inside, very comfortable (more so than the Pilot), infotainment blows Honda out of the water, drives as good if not better, and the seat belts fit easily! As long as the reliability holds up, the Telluride/Palisade is going to spank the Pilot and Highlander.

Very interested to hear your thoughts after you test drive the Telluride. I love Honda (I’ve owned two Accords, both for many years) but I am now a Kia Konvert. Telluride all the way over Pilot for me.

I myself think Ive narrowed it down to the passport and Telluride. We really like the wideness both offer. Plus the passport is a bit sportier than the pilot. Im seeing the passport offered in the exl trim already $3000 off and it just launched first week of February. In the Telluride im targeting the S trim. Loved how both drove. The engine and transmission in the Telluride felt and sounded a little better. Im always hunting for a good deal so that makes choosing the Telluride a little harder, especially knowing in a few months it'll be discounted more. The dealership experience between the 2 has been hugely different. Honda has been open and clear up front and listened to what i wanted, kia salesmen not so much. They dont know the car features, dont seem to acknowledge im looking into the s trim and want to sell me anything they have, theyve low-balled my trade when subaru, honda ,hyundai, mazda, and vw have all given me 8000 kia wants to give me 6500. Just unsure what to do.

I would be surprised to find any great deals on a newly released vehicle at this time. As previously stated production is just ramping up and demand should be high.

I have been watching this mid-sized 3 row segment for quite a while. I currently have a 2015 Ford Flex (my 2nd Flex) and I am one of those people that looks at things now to determine what I may do in the next year or two. My Flex has 70K on her, but I also put on 35-30K a year. So, I will be "needing" a new vehicle in the next 2 years, especially considering that Ford is discontinuing the Flex and they have not updated is since 2013, so it is dated.

What interests me about the Telluride is that it is boxy...I like that.

Ok, back to deals. We are also a Subaru family. My wife is on her second Outback and we have a Forester for my daughter. I was really excited about the Ascent when it came out. Our dealership and many other was NOT selling for below MSRP. The Ascent was released in May 2018 as a 2019. Much like the Telluride being released in early 2019 as a 2020. By the time the next model year is released, I would have around 50K on a 1 model year old car. If my Subaru dealership would have been wiling to negotiate off of MSRP, I would most likely be happily driving an Ascent. Since May of 2018 a lot has changed in this segment. Release of the Telluride, Announcement of the Palisade, Announcement and soon release of the Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator. I also believe that the 2020 Toyota Highlinder will be new. It is good to have competition.

If KIA wants to get me in the door, they are going to have to be willing to negotiate. I will not pay MSRP for a vehicle. I really want to wait to see some CPOs come in for these new 3 row vehicles and let someone else take the initial depreciation. I also did a comparison build of a Subaru Ascent and KIA Telluride. To my surprise, the Telluride is $1100 higher than the Subaru. If KIA doesn't put in some incentives or the dealers negotiate, they may have a tougher time moving these. In our area, KIA does not carry a reputation for being top quality and the dealership is VERY pushy which turns off a lot of buyers. I believe that KIA (and Hyundai) are building better cars and will build a better relationship, but not at similar costs of Ford, Toyota, GM and Subaru.

I am excited to see what the future holds in this segment. I would love to see the Telluride with a higher output V6 or even a V8 in it. Even though my current car is turbo, at least it is a larger V6 turbo. The trend to installing smaller turbo engines does not appeal to me at this time since there is not a lot longevity on many of these applications pushing a 5000 pound vehicle. 145

I'll pay the extra grand for a 6 cylinder, no CVT, Nappa Leather and the extra warranty gladly.

We were excited when the Ascent finally got the lots. In fact, when the Subaru GM saw a top line Ascent arriving on the delivery truck, she called me. We test drove it immediately and were underwhelmed. The seats are hard. The passenger seat lacks lumbar control and the powertrain performance felt like the mice were working overtime.

I test drove the Ascent and honestly the ride shocked the hell out of me. Its cushiony and rides like a luxury vehicle compared to the Telluride and others. It has plenty of power so 4 vs a 6 cylinder isnt a issue at all and Subaru makes good CVT's with artificial gear shifts unlike Nissans Shitty CVT's. lol. If it wasn't for me wanting to try a different brand (wife has a 2016 Subaru Legacy) we would have bought the ascent, its that good.
