If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... What Does the Telluride have that the Palisade Doesn’t?

🤖 AI Summary

No AI summary has been generated for this thread yet.
One plus for the Palisade, however, is that you can get the SEL trim with the three options packages (Convenience, Premium and Drive Guidance - with Power Sunroof) and AWD for ~$43000 and get it very close to the Limited trim in terms of features -for about $5k less. The Limited trim with AWD tops out around $47800 - there is about a $4800 difference between the two. There is a huge spread between SEL and Limited trim - so it's a bit more customizable.

Based on my comparison, these are the features that you get in the Limited for that $4800 difference (over fully loaded SEL)-

Nappa Leather
Ventilated Front and Rear Seats
Ambient lighting (or Mood Lighting)
12.3-inch fully digital display instrument cluster
Leg cushion extension - driver's seat
4-way lumbar - driver's seat vs 2 way
Side Mirror Approach Lights
Premium rear accent lighting
Premium front grille
Premium skid plates (front & rear) (chrome finish)
Dual panel sunroof
630-watt Harman Kardon® premium audio with 12 speakers
Blind View Monitor (BVM)
Rain Sensing Wipers
Heads-up Display (HUD)

I'm not convinced that those options are worth the extra $5k - although the digital gauge is quite cool. I have read, however, that the RPM gauge goes in the reverse direction (counter-clockwise)? We'll see how the discounts come out... I don't think the Palisade will be as popular as the Telluride.

Lack of folding mirrors on the Limited is a major oversight. Another negative for Palisade - there doesn't seem to be any manufacturer incentives listed on website.

Another positive - if you want all the features and only want FWD, you can get it in the Limited FWD, which brings cost down ~1700 - $46145, or a relatively lower price of $41695 for fully loaded SEL.

Such a tough decision...

I love the exterior design of the Telluride. When the current gen Honda Pilot went on sale as a 2016 model, I loved the exterior, which was a vast improvement over the literal rectangle that preceded it. The Telluride looks like a Pilot that worked out every day at the gym for three years. It is, IMHO, the best exterior design of an SUV ever.

The Telluride interior is very nice too, but I have a slight preference for the Palisade’s. Aside from the awesome digital dashboard, I prefer the more integrated look of the instrumentation, and, as nutty as this sounds, Hyundai’s instrumentation fonts are nicer than Kia’s. Still, both are miles ahead of the Pilot, which has an absolutely hideous instrumentation panel, and that standard Honda instrumentation font is very dated.

The power folding mirrors thing is huge for me. There’s no way the Palisade will get them or the Telluride is getting a full digital dash before a mid-gen refresh a few years down the road, so I’m stuck with this tough decision.

But I’m thinking I’m gonna eventually end up with the Telluride.

That's a bit of a stretch wouldn't you say? The X5 with the M Sport or the X5M... now THAT tickles my fancy. But not for 2-3 times the price, hell no.

I would not hold my breath on the kia getting anything. Production is just not keeping up as it, they would not want to put more pressure on a already broken system.

It is possible the palisade getting the "ultimate" for the hyundai, but they really have no reason.

It’s funny you mention the X5, because I’m a huge fan of the exterior design of that as well. In fact, I was thinking about it as I was typing my post.

But, after looking at some pictures to refresh my memory, I stand by what I said... I honestly think the Telluride exterior looks better than the X5...

however, all bets are off on the interior.

Another thing I noticed is that the Telluride in the SX trim in Canada has dual sunroofs. Same trim level in Palisade is called Luxury and it does NOT have dual sunroof.

Interior cargo space is a tiny bit larger in the Telluride.

The parking brake location in our Telluride is in normal location whereas it's on the left side of the dash in the Palisade.

The Palisade has the speedo needle moving clockwise and the tach needle moving anti-clockwise, I saw that in a video on YouTube. I hated it.
I hated even more the push button transmission shifter.
To get a Telluride we need to drive 50 miles from us, versus 16 miles to the Hyundai dealer.
Even though we have two Hyundais now, and our dealer is fantastic, in Chico, CA, I am much more likely pick the Tride. Sorry Hyundai, I don't like the new puppy at all.

New X5 is a step back from the previous model, imo.

Another diff. btwn the Korean cousins...

Forward to the 13:00 min mark.

Telluride - Mando (Korean supplier) shocks
Palisade - Sachs (German supplier) shocks (unless have auto-leveling system where rear shocks are Mando supplied, but w/ a diff. calibration to match the Sachs shocks up front)

As for the full digital gauge cluster, Kia should be making that available to the Telluride in a forthcoming MY.

The K900 has it, as does the facelifted Cadenza and Kia stated that it will be spreading to other models in its lineup (such as the forthcoming new Optima).

Yeah, the reverse tach looked a bit off to me at first too, but apparently BMW is doing it now too...
2112

I wonder what the logic is.

As far as push button shifters, I have no problem with them. But I certainly don’t consider it a necessity. Probably the wave of the future though.

No real logic but it does look "cool" to some. It's a daring design and fits well with Palisade's overall exterior design. I actually like it.

The self leveling rear suspension is standard on the limited as well as towing pre wired and ant- sway.

It’s pre-wired but they don’t say what kind of wiring. Four pin or 7 pin? And if Hyundai is going to put the wiring in there, why don’t they go ahead and put the brake controller and the jack for the trailer connection? This is so dumb. It is amazing the lengths that car manufacturers will go to save money, while simultaneously bragging about the half-ass job they did with the towing package.

And btw, the digital tach on the Palisade is wonky. Check out the Redline review on YouTube. The tach needle is jumping all over the place—although the reviewer doesn’t seem to notice. I noticed.
I could probably get used to the tach needle going the other way, but to have the needle jumping around after shelling out an extra few grand for that digital dash would drive me nuts!

Telluride has a driver side folding grab handle. Palisade doesn’t. Does the Telluride have more accent/ambient interior lighting than the Palisade? Palisade does have remote start on the key fob which is nice.

The video must be choppy or a low framerate, trust me, the digital dash is hi-res and silky smooth on the tach and speedometer.

I hope you are right
