What have you done / plan to do to your Telly?

My 22 S arrives soon!

Planning to do a DIY ceramic coating and to ceramic tint the windows. I primarily want UVA/UVB protection and some heat rejection. I've heard/read different things about Kia glass. According to an old article, all Kias have solar glass which has great UV protection. According to other posts I've read, the Kia UV protection windows are labelled "solar glass" and it's only the windshield and perhaps front side windows. I hadn't been planning on doing any film on rear side and back windows because they come smoked from the factory, but I've also read that they don't offer UV protection or heat rejection. I wish there were definitive answers we could rely on because I'm not really looking for cosmetic changes with window film, but I do care about the functional improvement. I've read through a bunch of the window tinting threads here but there doesn't seem to be any true consensus here on the specifications of the factory glass.

At some point I would also like to change out the 20" stock S rims for some 18s. This is primarily a car for getting to the mountains and outdoor activities, so I would prefer to have a bit more sidewall and 3 peak tires which are harder to come by in 50 sidewall. I may end up getting some takeoff 18's or buying some Methods, that's all TBD.
Did you end up doing all of this? The ceramic coating and tinting? Making plans for my baby when it arrives. Thanks!

I'm pretty much at the end of my list of Telluride mods and accessories.
  • Ceramic Tint (35% & 70%)
  • Entire front + rocker panel PPF
  • Ceramic Coating
  • K&N Cold Air Intake
  • Borla Exhaust
  • Ultra Racing Front Strut Bar
  • Grill Screens
  • Pedal Commander
  • Hood Loop Anchor Straps
  • Front Runner Slimline II Roof Rack
    • Thule Force XT L
    • Pelican V800
  • Last mod to buy: falken wildpeak a/t trail 265/50r20
I'm really happy with the flexibility the slimeline roof rack offers. I've already fit 4 kayaks on the roof rack, and test fit 2 kayaks/1 canoe + Roof box.

Your ride looks badass! Do you have before and after photos of the ceramic coating? Mind sharing how much you paid for it? Did your person show you the flaws in the Kia factory paint job? And have you noticed a difference with the ceramic tint? And also how much this cost? Thanks so much.

I had it wrapped not knowing if I'd like it. I figured I could peel it off if I didn't. I also had considered trading for a 2022. Now that I've decided against that, I just made an appointment to get it painted in a couple weeks. The wrap was done in October, it has held up well but does have one big rock chip.

The paint job is only going to be about $60 more than what I paid to wrap it and that includes the labor to remove the wrap. I like the shiny grill with the black surround on my ebony black. I think it does just enough to change the look so I didn't have to go to the trouble of blacking out more trim. Honestly, if I wanted the Nightfall, I'd just order one. The trade values are so high, I'd just start fresh with a new car with little penalty. The cost difference would probably be a wash vs paying to black out what you have.

This looks classy. Good call!

They just said the Kia's paint is okay, but the shop I went to usually deals with high end cars. It ended up being around $7,500, but keep in mind I picked all top end stuff. Prime XR Plus on all windows + moon roofs, Modesta - BC-04/BC-05 + PPF on the front and rockers.

Out of everything I did the ceramic tints are 100% worth it. I'm planning on putting ceramic tints on my wife's next car. You can barely feel the sun when you're driving. The car stays cooler longer, and its very noticeable if you go from a car with ceramic tints to one without. Putting PPF on your cars front I think is worth it also if you plan on keeping the car for a while. My wife's crv has so many paint chips that PPF would of stopped. The Ceramic coating is a toss up. Its supposed to have a 3-10 year lifespan providing i keep up with the annual maintenance, but its pretty nice since everything slides off the car with a little water.

This is so immensely helpful. Thank you.

I’m definitely doing top end work. No shortcuts or cheap parts.

I’m 100% sold on the ceramic tint. But have been going back and forth on the ceramic coating. I’ll look into the PPF. I’m also deciding whether or not to do rust proofing on the undercarriage. I’m in Hawaii so salt is an issue on the body, not so much underneath, and I want to be prepared in case we relocate and deal with snow and salt.

I plan on wearing the Telly down unless I need to size up. So I want it to be in its best condition to go the distance.

Thank you again for the info and pictures. Really appreciate it…as well as any thoughts you may have going forward.

I'm running a true ceramic tint not a hybrid ceramic tint on all my windows including both moonroofs except for the windshield.
The front end, full hood with complete front fenders, door mirrors and underside of door handles of the Telly have had XPEL clear protective film applied .
Also had Celajit Ceramic Paint Coating applied including the aftermarket wheels .
I highly recommend to get the moon roofs done for two reasons.
1. To block heat and UV rays .
2. If ever the roofs were to break 99% of the glass would still be stuck to the film and not all over the place.

Never got the car. Order arrived at the dealership and they informed me they were imposing a $6k ADM and that I was lucky it wasn't $10k. I passed.

I do still have smartliner floor mats and OEM crossbars I should probably sell lol. Bought those the week before the truck was supposed to arrive and I'm not sure at this point that I will be able to get one at MSRP any time soon. I guess I will post in classifieds.

Thanks for sharing! Living on Hawaii, tinting the sunroof and moonroof would be as much of a priority is the windshield. I’ll try to find a reputable company to apply the PPF.

How do you feel about your ceramic coating?

Oh that’s a bummer. I’m hoping this doesn’t happen here. Paying $60k is too much for my taste as it is. Not sure that I’d pay $1 more than that.

If I were closer to you, I’d take the floor mats off your hands for sure. Classifieds here might get it sold for you! Or you could search for another dealer asking for MSRP. Lots of success stories here. Unfortunately, being in Hawaii limits me to the two dealerships available.

I thought about doing the windshield but it just got replaced.
Is on the ceramic coating for the external vehicle If you stick to a ph neutral soap you will be fine .
On the performance of this specific coating when it is clean water beads up great and with a nice shine šŸ˜Ž.
What I do not know but if it does perform this way with water beating it is supposed to protect the vehicle of the 10 years the specific coding from from the environment bird poop and things like that.
I did pick up a touch up spray Deb spray and I will be contacting the company as well as well there shouldn't be any need for maintaining unless it gets maintaining and Lissa gets scratched up or chipped.
That's why I have picked up maintaining product.
I hope this helps any other questions please let me know but it is well worth it I think.
It will be great especially in your environment to protect from the salt air .

Just did LED replacements for back up View attachment 17454and license plate lights.
Are these backup lights significantly brighter? If so, where can I find them?
I've always had trouble backing up in the dark (containing hazards) due to wimpy backup lights.

Lol. Apparently I became a victim of being lazy and not proof reading.šŸ˜†

Good question on the lights. Any amount of tint is illegal. Same with front window tint….I went light on both to lessen the attention. 20% on the front windows - 5% for the backs.

Gonna sell the stock rims so if interested or know someone who might be. Please holla!

thx for the kudos! May the force be with you!
How did you tint your lights? I’m thinking about going with Lamin-X as I’ve done the same to my GLI.

Is there an ultimate telluride OEM/Aftermarket accessory list broken down to category and links?
