Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Strange, I'm emailing with Clint and he wanted "a modest $2,995 market adjustment above the factory MSRP."
Huh, strange. Maybe we contacted him at a fortuitous time? For what it's worth, the Puyallup and Kirkland dealerships both offered us $2k over MSRP after some back and forth.

Good experience at Ken Ganley Kia in Medina Ohio. I found my GWP, S, FWD, black interior thanks to failcat. Called and placed a deposit, and of course I had some inside information on the arrival date thanks to Stephen on this forum. Sold to me at MSRP, fair doc/title fees, and worked out a deal on the purchase of an OEM hitch setup. Got the $500 rebate with 2.25% financing, and out the door we went!! Still waiting on the one Superior Kia supposedly ordered for me, but that’s a whole other thread.

Picked up my 2021 Telluride SX w/ Prestige Package Nightfall Edition on Feb 4. I placed my order through Kia of Columbia in Missouri. My salesperson was Hilario Delgado Rea. He was great to work with but I must put in a good word for Brittany Derifield. Long story but to shorten it up she helped me out as the prior owner of the dealership sold out and moved. My order got misplaced but she helped me out. Previously I had a new Ford Explorer in 2013, then 2016 and 2018. So far I am loving the Telluride more than the Explorers.

What's the story on Superior KIA? The one in Cincinnati, right? I just requested a price quote from Gerald this morning based on positive feedback i read in this thread. Should I be avoiding this dealer?

I personally couldn’t get Gerald to call or email me back most of the time. He would never print or email me anything confirming my order. I was skeptical because of this, and when I didn’t see my order come through failcat when it was estimated to show up, I started looking elsewhere. One did show up exactly as I wanted, other than it’s AWD. I’m wondering if this is the one they “ordered” but I haven’t heard a thing yet. Lack of communication on their part is frustrating to say the least. I was told they take care of the in-store customers first, then the phone calls, but unfortunately my calls weren’t returned most of the time. Geralds line was mostly that he was really busy and he’d get back with me. If you can get a in person or email quote, you already got farther than I did. I was told they ordered mine, and that I would be getting the 1k off MSRP, but never got anything in writing, hence why I went elsewhere and paid MSRP. Wasn’t worth the 1k risk of not having a vehicle when my lease was up. Good luck though, maybe it’s just luck of the draw!!

Thanks for sharing your experience. That's definitely an eye opener of an experience. Glad you found the car you were looking for. I'm also waiting a couple quotes from "good dealers" mentioned in this thread so we'll see what comes in my inbox.

How much did they charge you for the trailer hitch set up? Thinking of getting the dealer to install the oem one before I pick up

I worked it into the deal, but with me doing the install. I got the hitch, wiring harness, and bumper cover for $330. We basically split the cost

Took delivery yesterday of our 2021 Telluride SX Prestige AWD in Gravity Gray/Black with Tow package after 25 weeks. I can not say enough great things about Lev Kia in Framingham MA and Ken Russian in particular, as others on this site have said before, he's incredibly easy and low key to work with. No need to haggle, nor do you feel pressured, and no markups above the MSRP on the sticker. All it took was a $500 deposit and 25 weeks worth of patience. If you're in the greater Boston area I can't recommend Lev Kia enough!

Just curious as to why the wait is so much longer at Muncie (8mon) as compared to others? Is the $1200 below retail because of the Costco auto discount? I'm from Milwaukee too and would make the 5hr drive to Muncie as well. I've been looking for a dark moss AWD with nightfall pkg and black leather. Every dealer in SE WI is gouging buyers with $4-5k markup.
Muncie has a long list of orders, based exactly what you wrote. The lengthy wait is caused by low allocation to the dealership by KIA.

Example states that have several high allocation dealerships: California, Texas, Florida, New york, but they (not all) seem to market adjust☝️4k to 10k. There are a lot of sweet spot dealerships out there with good allocations at (MSRP), but only one Muncie / Costco offer. Time or your money...

I went down the road a bit with NowCar.com but was scared off by a lack of documented history and very few reviews.

I did have $500 deposit with them and when they were set to order the car they wanted 5% of MSRP NON-REFUNDABLE.

Even though if legitimate I would have saved $4k, I decided it was too good to be true. I mean they were selling one of the hottest cars in the US for UNDER INVOICE.

I didn’t want to be the guinea pig

BTW - they returned my deposit literally within SECONDS.
We decided to back away from Now Car. Just too few reviews for \ company that has been around since at least 2019???? And if we have issues, we are to deal wth the dealer that provided the car. Not willing to be a test dummy. Perhaps we need a thread specifically for this company to track their service record.

I can't even get Muncie to return a call - they must be slammed.

I just spoke with Lucas at Muncie Kia and he confirmed sometimes they come in as early as 3 months but sometimes it can be more like 8-9 months depending on requests and factory. He said they have a ton of orders in and if anyone else is guaranteeing 3 months, it's just not true. It may be or may not be that good. I liked his transparency. And they are giving $1,200 MSRP. Anyone wanting to place an order can email him the specs. LBOEHM@kiaofmuncie.com Just wait a few minutes first so I can get my order in ahead of the rest of you!

Good dealer= Cumberland Kia, Cookeville, TN. Bart is the sales manager. Sells Telly's at MSRP. He is a small dealer compared to others in Nashville and Knoxville who are selling above MSRP. Ordered on 1/21/21 and delivered on 3/5/21. Bart is fantastic but their sales people were a little lax on keeping us informed. I had to reach out after learning from failcat and @StephenCantrelle that a VIN had been issued.

Here's another post advocating Kia of Munice. I worked with Lucas to place a order for my 2021 Telluride SX nightfall edition on 11/18/20. Took Delivery on 2/20/2021. Paid Costco pricing or below MSRP. Lucas was really responsive and to be honest was one of the easiest dealer experiences I've dealt with. Did a 8 hour round trip drive to pick it up, and I'd do it again.

Just put an order in at Valley Kia of Modesto, CA as recommended by @wookiee73 in another thread of mine. Worked with Jaymz Maurer and he was on it! Put in my $500 refundable deposit, and he will be placing the factory order for me on Monday. He says it’s about a 2-4 month wait (but hopefully sooner!!). $1,995 above MSRP, but I don’t mind it compared to waiting longer elsewhere. If anyone is in CA or close by, I definitely recommend Valley Kia in Modesto.

Took delivery this evening from Luther Kia in Minneapolis, MN. Hands down, the best new car purchasing experience I've ever had.

Bought one at Willowbrook in IL. Traveled 3 hours to get it. Emailed Cyndi and they agreed to sell it at MSRP with no other BS. I emailed at the right time because ours came off the truck in the morning. Had to travel. Live the in the Madison, WI area where there are 2 dealerships, Russ Darrow and Metro. Russ Darrow wanted 5k in dealer addons which we all know are garbage. Said it was required on Tellurides. Metro wasn't much better. They wanted to add some stupid $1200 package and a pinstripe after they said they would sell at MSRP. Who does pinstripes anymore? Anyway we were happy at WIllowbrook in the end. They wanted to charge us for their protection package but we already agreed to buy it without.

So I picked up my Telly today and love it. But I had to haggle over the financing, interest rate, and extended warranty. The interest rates were higher than what was offered through Kia Financing. And they got lower if I bought the extended warranty for $2650. I know my FICO score and it was more than enough to qualify for the low rates through Kia. I also knew what my credit union was offering. When I asked about those Kia offers, his reasoning was that since he was selling at MSRP when all the other dealers were marking up, he had to make some profit off the car. I was polite but I called horsepoop on him and said no to the extended warranty and to come back with better interest rates for me. I ended up with the interest rate I wanted and no extra fees or menu items. So while this dealer does sell at MSRP, just be informed on the financing tactics.
