Order to delivery time

Hi All,

Ordered the White/Dune Nappa SX-P on April 16th in NJ. I went in on Friday to the dealership and the manager said that we're looking at a late July delivery because of the bottleneck on the nappa leather (which I already knew about because of this forum). Thats about 15-16 weeks from order to delivery. Is anyone else receiving time frames like this?

I ordered on April 7- Kia accepted on April 16 and I was told last week to expect in late July. Mine is an SXP too. I’m waiting for Black with grey nappa interior.

I've seen a lot of others also mention that "kia accepted the order". How do you know this, is this something your dealer told you? At the dealership I went to, the manager spoke and put in the order right away to a regional kia sales rep (i'm probably using the wrong title). Is that essentially the same thing?

It usually takes days or weeks for the factory to accept the order. Once it’s accepted you know you’re locked into the build and in que.
The day you ordered from your dealer is irrelevant, it all matters about the accepted date.

My understanding is that it’s taking 3-4 months from the accepted date. I hate to tell you that.

I understand that may be the situation now but my dates were order date: 03/09, accepted date: 04/26, VIN date: 05/15, arrival at dealership: 05/31. It was AWD SXP with Towing Package.

Are there any controls to prevent a dealer from selling the car to someone else without informing the original buyer who put the order ?

I ordered a SX Dark Moss w/butterscotch yesterday, 6/1. I was told the prestige package is no longer available due to supplier issues with the Napa Valley leather trim. Was told it would take about 2 to 3 months.

Hi Afam, to clarify, they told you your Dark Moss/Butterscotch SX would take 2-3 months? That's the combo we are considering. Would you be willing to share what placing a custom order required and what you were quoted? Thanks so much!

Honestly, it was confusing. We sat down with the sales person and built the car with him online in the dealership. He then took the print out and entered it into their internal SAP system. He came back with the print out of the SAP order. We had to put a $1000 nonrefundable deposit down. We got the towing, illuminated lighting, and a few other options. It came in around 46 something before taxes. I can provide the exact info tomorrow. It was right at MSRP.

We did a refundable $500 deposit ordering our Black Copper SX AWD. We opted for no Prestige. Greenway KIA of Franklin TN.

How do you find out what day your order was accepted? I've never heard anything or received notification that my order was accepted, but I have spoken to the dealer to get better time frames and they make it sound like everything is all good, just a waiting game.

my dealer got a letter from Kia with my name in an order number and a confirmation date of 20 days after I place the order and an ETA of 45 days from that day

I actually know the internal system they use fairly well. What you get is a purchase request form. The purchase request form then needs to be converted into a purchase order within the system. I would keep asking for the purchase order number from them. A procurement specialist needs to take the purchase request form and turn it into a purchase order. This will probably take a week or so, maybe even longer.


One thing I did notice on the purchase request form that they did not enter in my exact request. They put it something different and they told me that this gives me the option that if something else comes along that I can take it. I told them that since I am paying MSRP that I want exactly what I want. There was an option on the purchase request that says exact match - Y/N. Originally, it was checked ”N”. I told them that I want an exact match. I told them to change that to exact match ”Yes”. This should guarantee that you get the order that you want. Make sure your purchase request form matches your purchase order and get the purchase order. Don’t accept the vehicle unless everything on the car matches the purchase order.

Update. I ordered a SX-P gravity grey with grey interior & tow on March 11th. I was originally told my ETA on April 27th that it would be in on May 15th. Then it got pushed to the May 22nd. Now it's showing an ETA of June 1st. I hate it keeps getting pushed back, but it makes me feel better to know that it will eventually be here I guess. I hope it doesn't get pushed back again!

Another update. Obviously June 1st has passed and still don't have it. I'm hoping it comes in soon since my original ETA was May 15th. So I'm now 12 weeks out since my order date and over a month since getting an ETA. @Stephen Cantrelle was really helpful in giving me updates, but now that he's no longer working for KIA I've been in the dark cause my dealership is not good with communication! Are there any other dealers on here that are able to look up orders in their system?

I ordered the same vehicle except for the tow package on 5/11 and heard on 5/31 that it would be 45 days. I am in Texas, not sure if geography comes into play.

Hopefully mine comes off the line with yours!!! I'm in Idaho.

I ordered a Gravity Grey with Grey Interior SX-P with Tow Package on March 25th. Just received notification on May 22nd that they are fulfilling my order. Still waiting for an actual delivery date

Dealer says expected delivery date of July 14th... Trying to get my VIN from them...
