Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Then your best bet is probably ordering from the factory and getting the configuration you want.
Paying sticker off the lot seems to involve lots of time, effort and luck to find something like another customer’s order that was reneged.
But I heard you have to order they a dealer and they still end up adding their additional markup?

But how do you order? It has to be done they a dealer and they all still want to charge the markup.
It takes a little looking but there are many dealers not charging over MSRP. Just depends on where you are and how far you are willing to travel. Worst case you order from a dealer 2000 miles away and pay $1500 shipping the car. Better than paying 5k dealer markup. Dealers will have different timelines for getting you the car based on their allocations and customers ahead of you so take that into account.

Did you read even 3-4 pages of this thread to see people ordering thru dealers who don’t add a markup?

Yes but none in my area. There is one dealer in the entire state of Maryland not charging 5-10k markup. That dealer is 2.5 hours away which I am willing to drive to. Not really interested in ordering a car from Illinois or another state and shipping it. That’s almost as much of a PIA and waste of money too. Going to watch the inventory at the one in Maryland and try to grab one there I guess.

Gotcha - hard to figure out who to commit to - Murray vs sussman vs Bergey in PA to get my ride in the next 4 mo.
Understood. Hopefully you make the right choice. The first dealer i went with said 2-3 that was in April and the one i ordered still isn’t on failcat. So then I with with Murray.

I'm in Maryland as well and placed my order with Bob Bell at MSRP. They pretty much said every Telluride they get is from a customer order so they never have anything on the lot. A customer could always back out but at 3 per month the odds seem low. Not sure their timeframe right now but they were at 3-4 months when I ordered in June. You may be closer to Parsons in VA who I also spoke to. They also sell at MSRP and quoted 3-6 months but they are higher volume so you may have better luck catching one from them if you really don't want to order. Good luck.

My wife and I ordered our '22 SXP AWD from Kia of Fargo on July 23rd.. No deposit required, and a sales price of $400 under MSRP. That is without any military or other discount. I looked around, and found no one else anywhere near that price. We worked with Mike Aguilar, and the process couldn't have been easier or more stress-free. I highly recommend them.

The only downside is that they have a pretty long waiting list. I expect our wait time will be inconvenient, but we're willing to be patient, given the overall sales experience. We did receive the order sheet confirmation right away. Does anyone have any idea what the typical time is between the order being placed and the order/vehicle showing up in KFOS?
I think it varies by dealership, model, and color combination. I ordered September 10, 2020 SX Tow Ebony Black and Espresso. Car went iinto KFos about August 1, 2021. ETA is October 2nd which is

Depends on dealership volume, color combos, and model. I ordered September 10, 2020. KFOS about August 1, 2021. 13 plus months at Fargo . They are a good dealership with medium volume (about 180 cars). Was told 10-12 months. I was 100 on their list to start. See signature for specs.

@arckal we should try and get a discount if we both buy at same time. I'm in the Columbus market too. If you talk to the salesman see if there would be any additional discount for us if we did that! I'm trying to get close to $40,000 for SX Prestige or as close as I can get.
Let me know how it works out.
Good luck

I had a great experience with I-25 Kia in Colorado. I worked with Nicole parish. I’m in the Seattle area so did everything by phone/email. I game what I needed and they told me that had one coming in a few months so I placed a $500 refundable deposit. I was called about a week later and they had a different color (black) but it was available sooner. My lease is ending so sooner is better for me. I. Accepted the black and was told Aug 18th.

Fast forward another few weeks. I just returned off vacation and was notified that the car was ready Aug 9. I had arranged financing with my bank, but the amount was incorrect (my problem) and bank stated they could not correct without a new application and a few days (thanks NavyFederal) so at the last minute, literally day before I applied for the Kia financing and was approved at 1.9%.

Yesteeday I was arriving for the airport at 330 but my flight was delayed until 430. I was picked up by their driver and we headed to dealership. Nicole is very friendly and short!! 😊 but she is very good at her job and helped me a lot. She explained all the features and had me go for a test drive. I got back and the front door was locked lol. They close at 6, but they let me back in. Nicole went over the enormous guides to the telluride and the infotainment system.

Finance was next. Signed everything in hard copy. Then again on an electronic system. Dealer fee is about $690 and this was disclosed in advance. Otherwise MSRP. They also offer a $400 veteran discount. This was quick about 30 minutes then Nicole put my temp tag on and we were on our way.

Great experience with this dealership. I should have gotten a pic with Nicole and the car! I’ll post a pic of the dealership. Thanks to the many contributors on this forum. I learned a lot and I’m sure I will learn more.

Depends on how you define your area and willingness to travel. If I were in your shoes and found nothing in MD, I’d look at PA dealers. There have been several mentioned.

I ended up ordering at Murray Kia after putting together all the info - seems like they get the most cars, have a good reputation of not BSing people.

Anyone looking for price at MSRP w/o addendum and great customer service, Peak Kia in Littleton, CO. Vicki Bell has been an absolute pleasure to work with, friendly, knowledgable, quick to respond, thorough and just all around great customer service. Never once felt pressure and I ask a LOT of questions. Not only are they selling to out of state customers, they are going to help arrange for shipping to NJ which is still well below the local markup.

Wow! Im glad everything worked out!!

Any good dealings in CT? I am in Milford, Napoli Kia of Milford doesnt seem like most up-to-date/knowledgeable dealership from me going in for test drive etc... I know Florida huge vs CT but the # of Tellurides each day on failcat for Flor is 50-200 where CT is lucky to get 2-3 per day. I guess thats a good thing less on road in CT, my friend in FL says every other car on hwy is a telluride. Loses some draw when everyone has it. Is CT still around 5 months from order?

I don’t think any state-wide generalizations can be made about order fulfillment ETA. Your best bet is probably a high-volume dealer who is very familiar with the ordering process.

I’ve seen an MA dealer mentioned but the name escapes me and 3 in PA: Murray, Sussman and Abeloff.

I worked with Alex Lee. MSRP. No games. Not sure about Costco, but I doubt it. Yes, a $1000 refundable deposit is required as I mentioned.
Have you received your Telluride? Did you use the consumer reports msrp or one they had? I went there a few months ago and they had raised their prices but were honest about it. They also had a long list of people who ordered and their expected wait was crazy long so we decided to look at other options.

Congratulations on the new Telly!.

I am planning to do same trek from CO back to the West coast (SF Bay Area). Few more folks in the forum are doing the same. Appreciate if you can shed more light on the drive back - any special care for the car, can you drive at same speed for long distances for a new car etc [Several videos on youtube advise on how to "break-in" the new car], how many days was the drive back etc..
