• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Well that sucks. I wonder if there is a way I can just disconnect it for now. I wonder how hard that fuse would be to disconnect.

From the Defect Notice 573 Report in the NHTSA documents, it looks like this only effects the 4-pin harness. But they dont know where it was all installed, since they switched to the 7-pin. So I would think we could manually inspect the harness to se if it is 7-pin?

Duh, I didn't even catch that. I have 7-pin so hopefully those with 4 get their issues resolved and those with 7 don't get added into the recall.

Appears it's 2020 with 'port installed' (i.e. factory) 4-pin harness

-OR-

All years that had 4-pin OEM harness installed at dealer or elsewhere.

Just saw this surfing the web from reuters. "An accessory tow hitch sold through dealerships may allow moisture into the harness module, causing a short circuit. In some cases, an electrical short can cause a vehicle fire while driving or while parked and turned off..."

Possible recall in the near future for some.

Wonder if this applies to tow packages put on at the factory? ‘22 with tow here

There is already a thread covering this......

Installed the Curt harness on my 2020 with the 4 pins. Hopefully this is superior. Perhaps change to this one if you have these defective ones?CURT 56420 Vehicle-Side Custom 4-Pin Trailer Wiring Harness, Fits Select Hyundai Palisade, Santa Fe, Tucson, Kia Telluride, Carnival, Black https://a.co/d/0cMj383

Easy - look by the receiver - for where trailer lights plug in... 4-pin (flat) or 7-pin (round).

Again, 4-pin only if OEM harness (i.e. not a non-KIA aftermarket)

Well that stinks for those of us who bought the OEM harness after taking delivery around the same time. No way to identify we are impacted and no option for reimbursement, we just have to throw it away and buy aftermarket.

Oof, sorry I was sorting through "in the news" and didn't see it.

If a mod could please close.

If you decide to replace it instead of waiting for a repair, don't throw it away. Keep it as evidence of the purchase in case some type of reimbursement is offered down the road.

Hyundai is telling Palisade owners to remove the harness fuse until the recall is completed.

If you have the factory 4-pin harness, you’re covered.

That’s what I’m going to do with my 2020 Telluride with tow package since I don’t ever tow anything, anyway.

And I don’t fortunately have to bother on my Palisade because it never had a tow harness installed.

I’ve already seen lots of people freaking out on social media since all the cars are recalled… but know that according to the wording: it’s only directly affected if the car has the 4-pin harness installed. If it doesn’t, you’re good. They’re only recalling all of them because all of them could have potentially had the affected part installed at some point after being delivered.

Any factory installed 4-pin connections on 2022 models?

I had hitch and wiring installed after market by a Hitch and Trailer store. 22 Telluride. Am i still fked?
