Often Wrong, Rarely Uncertain ;-)
Kia’s logic is that if they allowed the app to work in Massachusetts, the law would require them to open up access to their proprietary telematics platform. No way are they going to do that if it’s more profitable just to disable it in one state.I was FINALLY able to get my phone app to work. I discovered that somehow Kia changed my vehicle location status from a NY purchased vehicle to a Massachusetts vehicle. Apparently, Kia is anti-Massachusetts due to their "right to repair laws" and punish them by not allowing certain apps to work. I don't understand their mentality on this BS. They had to change my vehicle back to a NY purchase and then the re-download the app again. It thinks that I just purchased the car and appears to have restarted my 1 year free use.
Once NY’s Right to Repair law goes into effect, we’re likely to get screwed just like the Massachusetts people. But hey, the NYS Legislature seemed very pleased with themselves when the passed the law.
