In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

I was FINALLY able to get my phone app to work. I discovered that somehow Kia changed my vehicle location status from a NY purchased vehicle to a Massachusetts vehicle. Apparently, Kia is anti-Massachusetts due to their "right to repair laws" and punish them by not allowing certain apps to work. I don't understand their mentality on this BS. They had to change my vehicle back to a NY purchase and then the re-download the app again. It thinks that I just purchased the car and appears to have restarted my 1 year free use.
Kia’s logic is that if they allowed the app to work in Massachusetts, the law would require them to open up access to their proprietary telematics platform. No way are they going to do that if it’s more profitable just to disable it in one state.

Once NY’s Right to Repair law goes into effect, we’re likely to get screwed just like the Massachusetts people. But hey, the NYS Legislature seemed very pleased with themselves when the passed the law.

Right to repair should be a federal law.

Otherwise we get Apples and Teslas of the world forcing you to use their expensive repair + replacement services which carmakers will follow as we move to more complicated computerized systems.

I don’t disagree. My point is that a patchwork of state laws is a bad — and ultimately counterproductive — solution.

If they kiss you or take you out to dinner and a movie before they "F-U".......then they are "friendly". I'm sure they all got together and came up with a plan. "Hey,.....if WE ALL (dealers) do it, they will HAVE to pay us ! "

Kia of Cerritos. “ internet sales manager” Pedro Torres wanted to make up a sx $14k right of the bat.

Not that it should be a surprise. Folsom lake kia in northern CA wants $8000 markup for an order.
Lot mark up is probably 10k+

Jenkins Kia, Crystal River. I purchased July 2021. $10,000 over MSRP. I went in Jun 8, 2022 to cancel warranty services. I JUST now received 2 of those refunds. We had extended warranty, Gap, and tire and wheels. To be fair, I haven’t looked them over, to see if they combined anything. But, took over 8 weeks to receive refunds. When most take 4-6 weeks.

Ray Skillman Kia off Pike Plaza in Indianapolis. I intentionally took my trade-in into the dealer the week before to have a firm appraisal offer before going in to close on my new Telluride. They told me one number then and when I was at the dealer to close on the Telluride, they “discovered” all these new issues that they hadn’t seen when I brought it in the week prior to get appraised. So they proceeded to low ball me. Fortunately I had gone to Carmax and will be dropping it off for thousands more than what they offered me. Very annoying that they pulled that last minute.

Ya I talked to them too and laughed at their 2k “protection package“ on every car they sell. What a joke.

It's the classic - "lets squeez some more nickles out of this customer, and hold em hostage before we hand over the keys". In this market you have to expected it. I'm a big fan of "if it ain't in writing....it ain't.

Great play w/Carmax in the back pocket.

Enjoy the ride.

Did you get their original appraisal in writing? Only 1 week later it should still stand.

Their not suppose to mark up orders just what's on the lot wtf.

Yeppers! I did the same. Carmax may not be the absolute top dollar offer but they are right up there. AND NO ONE can even come close to their setup process. They've got that fine-tuned to the nth degree.

Nope and last time I make that mistake.

Jeff Belzer's Kia, Lakeville MN - Selling at MSRP (supposedly), refused to disclose the offer for my trade in and I asked to see the numbers five times, always an excuse or no. The sales manager finally told my sales rep that I could either accept that my payment would be in the "$6's" or I could walk. Based on the rounded down value of my trade in and the money I was going to put down, my payment would have been significantly lower. Shady as hell when they won't show you the numbers. Of course I walked.

Though you guys would enjoy this one - for a Telly EX, not sure if fully loaded because the sticker was already funny enough I didn't bother looking:

Edit: forgot location - Kia of Carson last week, and it was already sold while still being a display unit in the dealership.

Unfortunately, I have to put Fowler in the bad dealer list due the fact that the continually dicked me around with my order and would not give me a straight answer to questions that I knew could be answered quickly. I would ask where I was in the queue. They said that they didn't know. I asked if I was picked up in KFOS after it closed Monday night. They said it was still open and that they were still waiting to see. I know that is not factually true. Besides Stephen stating that, I confirmed with other dealers when I started looking again. I know people have had good experiences but that was not mine
