If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... What did you pay for your KIA Telluride?

What is CPO?

Certified, Pre-Owned. Basically it's a dealer's way of warrantying a used car. There's a lot of gimmicks but when I bought that used Lexus, Lexus' was by far the best in the industry. When you bought a CPO vehicle from the dealer (not all qualified - example, accident and 4 panels replaced), you got the same factory warranty that existed for the first 3 years for up to an additional 3 years depending on the initial delivery date. So if you bought a used vehicle off a 3yr lease that was traded in early and before the 3 year anniversary date (from the first sale date), you got a bumper-to-bumper warranty that went all the way to 6 years from the initial purchase date (of the original owner). I had $15k of warranty work done for silly stuff but on a car that had a sticker north of $100k new (because of the options), silly stuff was costly even though they had the best reliability in the industry.

Once you graduate from having car payments, you can start to realize that you can drive a high-end, already depreciated luxury car for not a lot of $$$.... just the loss of the use of your money for a period of time - the key is having the cash 'to invest'. The CPO warranties mean you pay more for the car from a dealer vs a private party but if you time it right, you can make out nicely and the higher end cars are very expensive to repair and maintain - they even threw in full maintenance for 3 years on the used vehicle.

I have another Lexus my wife has been driving for 3 years that is likely to lose about $8k from what we purchased..so it's not always as good as that one time.. but that still equates to 'no money down and $222/month' to drive a $60k 3-year old car. (8000/36 months = $222/mo). I had pretty much stopped buying new until this Kia.

My wife 'downgrading' from a US six-figure sticker-priced luxury car to a 'Kia' should tell you something about how much value the Kia Telluride is driving into the market. Oh, and I have 3 kids over 6ft so that mattered too :) I believe this vehicle is going to do to the SUV market what Tesla is doing to the luxury sedan market (e.g., destroying it). It's just too much value, too many features, for too little cost. Get in line now.

Haha...yes, you got an amazing deal! I actually bought my last new car on New Year’s Eve also...at closing time! I had to laugh because we didn’t really plan it that way, but there we were.
I am in line for an SX Telly. But if they don’t start making more of these Tellurides there won’t be any deals this NYE...or maybe even the next one.

P.S. NYE = New Year’s Eve

I like this strategy. Only I’m gonna tell them 6K under invoice.

Actually my real strategy is to wait a few months until real discounts (and the Palisade, which I’m also seriously considering) appear. Then I’m gonna search Auto Trader/Car Gurus for the lowest price in the country and ask a local dealer to beat the price.

My goal is 41K max for an SX Prestige (hey, that’s 6K under sticker!), maybe 42.5 for whatever the all-in Palisade is.
I like the approach but it sounds unlikely - let me know if it works!

Just joined last night but I'm in the DFW area looking to buy an SXP and so far prices have ranged from $2,800-$20k over MSRP for the SXP at all the dealerships I've gotten quotes for.

WOW!! my credit union through my employer is offering a 3% interest rate for 60 months with nothing down, the payment averaged around $620.00 a month. They break it into either weekly, bi-weekly or semi monthly. Its broken down depending on how you get paid all (Pre-Tax).

@Jason Fox Can you speak to whether or not the $1000 Kia Finance rebate is contingent on you making at least multiple payments? At my dealership, they said I could pay it off immediately with no penalty. Any help is appreciated!

That should be the case

We were also told no prepayment penalty and we could pay it off immediately. We plan on doing that. We are just waiting for the paper work from the loan company to come with the loan number to do this

I live in Chicagoland

Is this NORMAL on a lease cost?
Is someone being ripped off with these fees???
$698 is our Doc fee (what goes directly to the owner for lights, heat, overhead, etc..). Every dealer charges that.
and
The $748.50 is the Acquistion fee and registration. Basically a bank fee.. it’s on every lease.

Just put a deposit down at Weseloh Kia in Carlsbad, Ca. SX with prestige package for exactly MSRP. At first they wanted 2k more since I wasn’t in their local area (?) so I said no thanks and they called back and said they’ll do MSRP. It really wasn’t that painful, entire set of conversations were about 30 minutes. Made it clear I’m not buying add ons or accessories. I know the next round is financing games. But for now I’m fine with the experience. They even pulled out cars from the back already purchased and awaiting pickup so we could be sure of our color choice.

Is the doc fee the same at all dealers? Just curious. Ours was $698

It is not. All dealers set own rate

They’re both beautiful inside and out. I actually prefer the Telluride exterior and the Palisade interior. I’m not crazy about the huge pillar cutting off the rear side windows on the Palisade. If the pillar was smaller and the rear windows were larger, then the Palisade might’ve won the outside for me too. As far as the inside, the Hyundai is the winner for me. I always thought the Kia instrumentation font was a bit wacky, pointy, and 70s looking, while the Hyundai font is much cleaner and more modern looking.

I’m still leaning towards the Palisade for the better premium audio system (12 speakers vs. 10) and for the one thing I’ve been dying to get in my next car: an all digital dashboard. (I was disappointed to see that it’s not an option for the Telluride, even though Car & Driver initially reported it was. A heads-up display does make up for this some, however.) I’m thinking (hoping) that a fully loaded Palisade will sticker for about $2,000 more than the Telluride SX Premium.

Anyway, Kiundai nailed it with the Telluride and Palisade. These are the first SUVs within the realm of affordability for me that check all my boxes, and they deserve a medal for sticking with a V6 engine (I really don’t want a turbo 4). I can’t wait to take them both for test drives. As long as they’re comfortable for me and reviews don’t reveal any nasty surprises (unlikely), one of these will be my next car.

An "all digital dashboard" is definitely cool, I had one on my Escalade.....that being said, it is indeed "cool" UNTIL it quits working!! ...which mine did, so I like a combination of both AND the heads up display is a good paring with some "old school" instrumentation. I think Kia has got the right formula........

Hey I just test drove a Telluride today and was very impressed. Do you know if there are any incentives? I see some posts in here mentioning incentives but I didnt see any on the Kia website. Thanks!
