• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Frontal Collision Warning - Malfunction

Update: The dealer re-calibrated the sensors, the tech drove it a few times and no issues are coming up. They notified me this morning that it's fixed and to come pick it up. Before I did I called them and they advised that KIA Canada just contacted my dealer and they want them to re-calibrate the camera as well, take video of it and send it to them. KIA Canada wants these specs to apply to other Tellurides that are having this issue. They are keeping it another day to drive it to make sure it's fixed. I'm nervous to drive it...........
At least they seem to be doing something about it,which is very good

Actually,I have only been following the issues. My Telluride has not come in yet.I's set to arrive on Dec 23'rd
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my truck. But be very careful, this happens out of nowhere and scares you half to death when it does! I live in Ontario and now the roads are icy...I won't feel 100% comfortable driving it going forward. This is driving me crazy.

Kia had my telluride for 3 weeks and I just got it back yesterday. Nervous to drive, especially in conditions when random braking was occurring. So far, no new braking incidents.

Did they tell you what the hope-it-works FIX was?

They believe the problem has been corrected by re-calibrating the cameras.

Thanks and good luck with it... but 3 weeks to re-calibrate.

The re-calibration was the "fix", but they tried several other things .....removed my license plate cover, removed my dash cam, re-calibrated radar, took of the bumper, etc. Once they did the re-calibration of the camera they test drove it at the dealer and they said the random braking had stopped. The final week my car was at Kia Canada and test drove hundreds of kilometers before it was returned to me.

Update: I just got my Telluride back after 3 weeks being at the dealer. They did the same thing as chrismjto's truck to fix it (re-calibration). Chris and I live about 45 mins away from each other and both our trucks had the exact same issue...coincidence or the beginning of something more widespread??? They say it's fixed, only time will tell. Knock on wood...........

This is an EX, and as I mentioned in the original post, it's been in the shop for over two weeks now and neither the dealership tech nor engineering appears to know what the problem is or how to fix it.

Whatever the system is called, it is misfiring without any threat, and well above the alleged operational threshold referenced above (45/50) and in other things I've read. I am aware that it can be disabled, but it defaults to "on" every single time the car is turned on. It cannot be disabled permanently like all of the other safety features.
Hi JMatty, I'm in Ontario and the service manager I've been dealing with at my KIA dealer said he's conferred with KIA Canada and apparently they looked into your case and they don't have any record of KIA replacing anyone's truck. Thought this was odd...

In the past week, have had the "Collision Detection" pop up on the instrument cluster, and the vibrating wheel/beeps, etc. Always when I was not even close to a collision. Today though, at around 20mph, same as another poster I knew I wasn't going to have to decelerate much because the person in front of me was actively making a turn but the FCA system engaged. Pulled me to a grinding halt in a 55mph zone, I'm lucky there was nobody behind me. The dash displayed "Emergency Braking Complete." As another posted said, being in snow/ice conditions with this threat does not have me a happy camper.

Take it in right away....trust me I had this happen many times and it is so frightening. I was so worried I would be rear ended and I had my daughter in the car each time. Telly9 and I both had our cameras recalibrated to factory settings and so far (1 week in) it has not happened since the car was returned to me. Just wondering how these cameras are getting uncalibrated? How long have you had the vehicle. I had mine 3 months (5000km) when this started.

Oh dear, welcome to the club. Take it in immediately and show them this thread. Chris and I found each other on this forum and basically had the exact same issue. Took them 3 weeks to fix both our trucks. The dealer needs about 30 feet in order to re-calibrate effectively.
I’m also a week in and all it good so far. I’ve had my Telluride since April and it just started happening to me end of Nov. Where are you located?

Got mine 1 month ago yesterday.

Sorry to hear you are having this very serious problem with your vehicle too. I loved my Telluride before the FCA began to misfire. Your 'honeymoon' phase was even shorter than mine.

Yeah it's crazy that this car I was in love with and waited so long for now has me terrified. I'm in NY. I cleaned the front camera today which was very dirty with salt. I realized it started happening this past week after we had ice and snow and the roads got salted. My car is filthy with salt so I figured the camera probably was too, and sure enough. I'm HOPING maybe this was what was causing the front camera to detect incorrectly. Fingers crossed.

My Tellruide is now doing the same thing. car is almost unsafe to drive...each time I pass a car - the beep and breaks kick in.....will need to bring it in to dealership ASAP....,car is only 6 weeks old with 3000km on it in Toronto.

My is now having this problem....all day yesterday and today.... each time I pass a car....for example, if a car is on a dedicated left turn lane and I pass them on the fast lane....my FCW and brakes kick in....its is scary and awful!..... I cant drive it ….someone might rear end me on while i'm in the fast lane. I'm in Canada (Markham) and will take this to the dealership ASAP tomorrow morning.

I can't believe this that is now 4 of us in the GTA alone. Pieusu you said you are from Markham....did you get it at Longman's?
