Redline is predicting mid to high 40K for the base, essentially picking up where Telluride/Palisade leave off.

I asked the dealership I tried reserving one through if they had pricing. The salesperson is waiting for their manager to be in tomorrow to try and get the information. I also asked if it was a refundable deposit like on the Telluride, they didn’t answer that question either.

Ultimately I’m shopping this against XC90, X5, Grand Cherokee, X3 M40, another Telluride, and an MDX. Price wise, it will be squarely in the middle if not the lower end. My whole decision will come down to how it leases compared to those vehicles.

All it does is allows you to customize it and select the dealer you want to use. Genesis concierge calls you almost immediately to then pass that on to the dealer (redundant since the website form does this). Then the rest is handled directly through the dealership.

Any Genesis owners here? Are there separate brick and mortar dealership's or just (dealership's) attached to Hyundai dealers? Not a fan of that model.

The ones I’ve been to in Nebraska are all the same dealership. Frankly, the dealership experience was a huge turnoff. Their maintenance and valet service are lackluster as well. I had to fight to get loaners, and when I did get them, they were Elantras or Sonatas. So I’m having my $46k luxury sedan worked on and being given a $17k Elantra — that was never the case with Mercedes. They would drive 140 miles each way to pick up my car for oil changes or maintenance work.

I’m hoping the brand has matured over the past 12-18 months. They’ll have to if they want to compete with the other luxury brands

Obviously I enjoyed the car enough to overlook and be willing to buy another one.

Agreed...A big reason for dropping Infiniti as an option a few years ago was a previous experience with an Infiniti dealership hanging off a Nissan shop. My experience there was a lot like yours. (and the CVT sucked!!). Been spoiled lately by the Audi ownership experience, lets hope Genesis migrates to a separate dealership model.

No pricing info from my dealer. They wanted $1000 non refundable deposit to order it. I told them there was no way I was putting a non refundable deposit on a car without specs, price, or release date. I’ll be reaching out to the other Genesis dealers to get their deposit policies.

@jdaake07 They are not supposed to be taking deposits. Certainly not non-refundable ones. It is not an order but a factory reservation of an allocation just like the Telluride according to Genesis’ site. BTW, the 2021 Kia Sorento is supposed to also have the same 2.5L twin-turbo AWD drivetrain as the mid-level GV80 available as an option when it launches in North America this year.

I too signed their online form for interest after completing their online configuration (3.5L twin-turbo AWD Prestige). That was on Friday night after watching their so-so live streaming introduction on YouTube a couple of days after their Miami launch. I was called before 8:30am on Saturday morning—a good thing I was already awake!— by the eager staff of the Genesis-qualified local Hyundai dealer who basically had no info and was scrambling to figure out what they were supposed to do with a warm lead.

Yea looks to be 4 or 5 inches shorter than a Q7...I'm good with that. I like it...Think its a nice effort by Genesis, it's on my list as a replacement for the spouse's Q7 in a year or two.

Handling is outstanding and it's very quick. Never had any maintenance issues, but I'd assume it would not be cheap out of warranty. Fit finish and materials are all first class. Worth 20K more than an SXP? Probably, but depends on what you want.

My buddy in NJ wanted a Telluride. The dealers around him were all charging over MSRP. He ended up with a 2018 Q7 for $12K under what the dealerships wanted for the Telluride.

I’ve thought about certified preowned. Good way to save a lot of money. However, I just don’t trust dealerships.
