I’m in southeastern PA and the SX models are being priced 4 to 5k above MSRP by many of the local dealers I’ve been talking with.
I lived most of my life in Fair Lawn, so I know all about Jack Daniels and their games. Please let us know who you used when you’re ready. In NJ, I had three different people on three different forums vouch for Motion Kia in Budd Lake/Mount Olive and a few days ago some people vouched for Sansone Kia on this forum. I had a good test drive experience at Liberty Kia in Ramsey (a few days after the car was released, back in Feb. ‘19), but I haven’t seen any posts related to purchasing there one way or the other. The rest of the Joisey dealers seem to be out of their minds.
As for me, I’m trying to get my ducks in a row to hopefully purchase a 2021 model by the end of the calendar year. And, unless things change radically, I think I’m going to be making a road trip to Muncie to do it. 9 1/2 hours each way doesn’t seem so bad when you can potentially save $1500ish from MSRP.
Go Telluride!! Tahoe is inferior to the Telluride in styling, feel, warranty, etc. Unless you need 9 seats (tahoe as an optional front row bench on some models). Good luck.We found a AWD EX with P/T at MSRP in Alabama. The 0.9 percent financing and 400 military bonus cash make it seem like the right deal based on all of my research thus far. I would be more hesitant to pay MSRP without the info I have found on this forum (we found one in Atlanta with a $11k markup!!! WHAT?).
I'll admit, I am still a bit on the fence, but I think we are going for it. Family and friends think no one should ever pay MSRP for a vehicle, but they also don't understand the value of this vehicle and how much of a deal actual MSRP is. This vehicle has everything we would want at 15k less than a Tahoe of equivalent trim.
We have looked around and we only like the Tahoe or the Telluride, so for us this is the right choice.

This stunned me. Unless it's an extended, the third row is unusable. And when they're up, there's less cargo room behind than the Telluride with the third rows up. It's like those vehicles took all that space and figured out the worst way to use it whereas the Telluride took its space and figured out how best to maximize it.Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade is too small in the 3rd row. Supposedly that will be fixed in the 21's, but man it was brutal back there. We test drove a Yukon Denali and my knees were in my chest back there (my test for whether my growing extremely tall for their age kids will sustain a long driving trip). The XL was way better, but won't fit in the garage. Any event, the Telluride had more legroom feel than either in my opinion (6'2 260lbs). Obviously the Yukon/Tahoe/Escalade is wider.
Yes very true , Philadelphia PA is charging 10K over MSRP ..Don't buy from a Philadelphia Kia Dealership , they are thieves....Its not limited by state, we have saw NJ dealers charging $20K over MSRP. I have two dealers within 10 miles of me in Maryland, one is charging over MSRP, once is matching kia.com dollar for dollar. If the dealer is charging extra, just look for another dealer.
There are a LOT of dealers in the Philly area. Not all are marking up (but, Allentown was the highest I heard from and said +$7k). Not all have inventory. I'd recommend calling around from top to bottom (PA, DE, NJ) and ask what they each have on order that isn't sold yet. Hopefully you'll find one arriving in the next 4-8 weeks you like.Yes very true , Philadelphia PA is charging 10K over MSRP ..Don't buy from a Philadelphia Kia Dealership , they are thieves....
California residents are a good client for us.Elk Grove Kia in CA is ONLY charging $5k over MSRP.. got them on the lot and been calling me non stop!! What a “steal”!
Yes they do I tried them all and they all asking over MSRP . The worst was Value Kia , they tried to charge me 10K over MSRP....There are a LOT of dealers in the Philly area. I'd really like to ship one to Alaska.Random visitor to this forum:
$7K markup in Anchorage, AK. $2K on the brand new Seltos. Surprised it isn't more after reading some of the comments from others in the lower 48.
All three dealers I went to were charging 7K over MSRP on the SX model. I’ll wait till next year screw that!Kia gave dealers approval for up to 7k in add ons because dealers are making nothing at msrp. hope this helps. basically theyre selling too cheap is what i was told. the fact its happening everywhere makes it plausible imo.
If you save money , by driving out of state to purchase the telluride . It worth it , in the Toyota Highlander it nice but the third row seating it not as spacious as the telluride.Hi All - new here and (as many of you) interested in an SX-P. Went to test drive one yesterday at a dealer in north NJ, drove nearly an hour to be given the runaround that this car is a unicorn and they don’t let just anyone test drive it. After a very direct conversation they agreed to let me test drive, I refused to test out an LX as it wasn’t the car I am interested in. With that said... the sales manager told me Kia is no longer taking orders for the vehicle from the public, anyone know if there is any truth to that? He was trying to sell the car he had in hand to me at 5K over MSRP. I like the car but not enough to pay over sticker. Any advice at this point in the year anyone can share would be much appreciated. I am also considering a 2020 highlander platinum, I have test driven this model locally and it is still available for purchase. That may be the tie breaker for me if I can’t find a fairly priced Telluride.
Also having read through this entire thread... it’s interesting to me that people are driving upwards of 10ish hours each way to save 1500-2k and not factoring in the money spent on gas, tolls, hotel, maybe airfare for one way driving, food, and added mileage on their new (and existing possibly) vehicle. It would probably be nearly a wash in savings.
