• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Kia Telluride Vs GV80

Well it was a used car

I asked the dealership I tried reserving one through if they had pricing. The salesperson is waiting for their manager to be in tomorrow to try and get the information. I also asked if it was a refundable deposit like on the Telluride, they didn’t answer that question either.

Ultimately I’m shopping this against XC90, X5, Grand Cherokee, X3 M40, another Telluride, and an MDX. Price wise, it will be squarely in the middle if not the lower end. My whole decision will come down to how it leases compared to those vehicles.
Did you manage to get the prices?

I did not. They really couldn’t provide any information. They are supposed to reach out once they have them. I don’t have a lot of faith.
Well that's the problem with their dealerships being inefficient and lack interest in building up the brand

So my wife just discovered the GV80 and said, "why don't we just get that and not wait 5 months for a Kia.". I told her the loaded one is like $15k more and she said, "well we should at least look at it, it's beautiful."

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. Only thing I like about the GV80 is that back end..front and interior to me is ewwww... It's actually smaller too so if you need the third row for anything besides small kids, then you might tell her to rethink tit.

I didn't say I was entertaining the thought! I only have one kid, but we wanted a bigger vehicle because we haul a lot and take a fair amount road trips (I do actually have a Chevy Express cargo van for my side hustles but, that's a different story). The Telly is actually bigger than what I need, it's just a decent value and we figured we'd just go big.

The GV80 has some weird styling cues but I don't dislike it. Honestly, it's too nice for what I need. If I had a car with that type of interior, I wouldn't let me daughter ride in it!

Well, I was going by the rule .... Happy wife, happy life :).... here's hoping your wait isn't too long. good luck.

Like others have mentioned, it'd be interesting to see what the lease rates for the Genesis will be. Telluride leases are kinda high so an attractive lease on a more expensive GV80 could be tempting!

With 3.3T V6..GV80 is a splendid masterpiece and add to that the plush interiors , clean dashboard...clearly wins the heart.
I currently have and Acura MDX and am looking for a new 3 row SUV. I was really interested in the GV80.

I just had an opportunity to see the GV80 in person at the Toronto Car Show. It was open to the public to sit inside and check it out. I was disappointed and am no longer considering it.

The positives: the finish is luxurious - nice leather, good fit and finish, comfortable seats up front. Looks better in person
The negatives: it is absolutely small. The interior feels very compact. No headroom at all, even in the second row. Don't even think about the 3rd being usable.

The Palisade and Telluride feel downright spacious compared to the GV80. While the Palisade has nice features and slightly more headroom than the Telluide I cannot get over the ugly "elephant man" grill. Test drove the Telluride and while it does not handle as well as my MDX, it is still not bad. I am just about ready to pull the trigger on an SX Limited Telluride. Now trying to decide between black and gravity grey.

If I have to choose between Telly or Pali or GV80, I would certainly pick a Telly.
I have never owned a SUV. I really enjoy my G80.

The GV80 is on a RWD platform but with an overall length similar to the Telluride (about two inches shorter I believe) What that means is the interior space will be much tighter. RWD vehicles are not space efficient. The Genesis is not the right car to look at if you need space. It's a luxury car, so the emphasis is not on utility.

Absolutely true. By the way did you see the new Sorento...it looks awesome. Its bold and boxy now..truly a masterpiece

I love the new Sorento. It feels weird not having a second Kia in the garage after we upgraded from both our Sportage and Sorento to the Telluride.

Honestly though, I want to wait until the 2.5T AWD units come out. Then it might be between the Sorento and the K5/Optima or a used 2019 Stinger GT. Or wait for the refreshed 2021 Stinger???

Decisions, decisions.

And then I'm sure the 2022 Kia Sportage SX will be a beast... :p

I'm def digging the new Sorento. It should have even more tech than the Telly. 277hp and 310 lbs-ft sounds sweet too. Who knows, maybe we'll get that for the wife when her current lease is up.

Cadenza would be a good idea but not the current generation Stinger considering the quality issues. Let's hope to look forward to a wonderful newer generation Stinger. Have great hopes with that car

I’ve thought about certified preowned. Good way to save a lot of money. However, I just don’t trust dealerships.
Unfortunately, many people are passing on the Telluride for this reason. Kia could be selling a lot more over time if dealers stop being crooks, but i'm sure they don't really care. (there are already selling more than they can keep up with)

In my experience you just need to find the right dealer.
Just purchased an SX Limited Telluride in Gravity Grey. I found 2 dealers that had them in stock and negotiated one against the other. I was able to to purchase it for $500 BELOW MSRP! Signed the deal Tuesday night and picked it up Thursday.

This - the biggest advantage for a FWD-transverse layout is space efficiency.

Still think Genesis made a mistake by shortening the WB for the GV80; if it had the same WB as the current G80 sedan, it would have about as much space as the Aviator.

Guess this gives Genesis more reason to be working on a full-size 3-row.

Maybe a GV90
