• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... AC Leak. AC Issues

Question: How hard is it to get to the back side of the bumper? I really dislike the look of these out front, and while I understand @Scarlett's concern, I'm wondering if it's really that hard to mount these a bit further back in some way?

I didn't try so I'm not sure. I know it is not recommended to mount on back of grill.

Hi Steve - I purchased the grill screens from you the other week and just installed them this afternoon. Easy installation and they look great (enough pics on this thread).
Thanks for designing a great product for us Telluride owners.

I am thrilled with mine that I purchased from Steve! I live down 1/2 mile gravel driveway until I teach my house then it’s paved, so I’m glad I found them on this site from my Telluride friends.

That is reach not teach my house 😃

I'm glad to help, KML! The boss here says I get underfoot when I'm bored, so this helps improve the marriage as well. Drive with confidence.

@Scarlett ,
Another idea: maybe it is worth replacing the mount with a small one? the large clips are very visible, albeit black. I installed with small ones, they are almost invisible. for 2 weeks already, everything is going without problems.

very easy, you need to remove the top black shelf and then you will have access to the radiator grill, unfasten the radiator grill and there will be free access.

@machtig has removed the bumper several times already to swap out his headlamps. Would imagine the process is the same to install the mesh behind the grill cover.

Steve’s fix is great. I posted earlier about something getting thrown up from the road that scarerd my bumper, I feel confident that if it had hit more center my TELLURIDE would still be safe because of Steve’s fix.

Thanks for your confidence in me, Bub! That is exactly what I mean when I tell folks to drive with confidence!

Do the welded and woven versions appear to have about the same air flow resistance and hole size?

They are a bit different. The welded has 4 holes/ inch, about 74% open area or air flow. The woven is 6 holes/inch,@ 64% airflow. So the welded gives you more airflow with a little less protection. The woven gives you a little less air with a little more protection. To the typical driver, I'm not sure either make a huge difference, so I would not agonize over the decision. If it helps, the woven will be a little more absorptive of stone damage as it is woven and the individual wires can flex a bit. The welded will show dings a bit more over time. Again, this is not going to be a huge difference.

Steve

guys,
Kia has released a great car and to beat competitors at a price they have to squeeze somewhere, save. Here is a striking example - thin aluminum that easily breaks through. As long as the Kia decides, install the mesh in the radiator grill to protect it.

something like this:

Great idea! Pretty easy, and I like the finished look better than the original. Being a lifetime farmer/rancher, Im used to fabricating equipment, to fix “issues” with my equipment and vehicles. Probably won’t be long, and some aftermarket grill guard will come on the market, you just beat them to it! Again, congrats.

I did it. Looks good
Order from Steve also. They work great and easy to put on. Great fast prompt service from Steve. I feel more secure for the lower front bumper area. Thanks @Scarlett for taking the time to provide a solution. Now get busy on the upper grille area ;)

TellurideScreen and Insects

As others have mentioned, the butterflies are out in force in certain geographies this season. The TellurideScreen prevented the invasion from reaching the radiator. I washed the car yesterday and it was very easy to clean out the unlucky insects. The radiator is nice and clean.

Ok, Somebody get a Telluride in the shop's driveway, (I'm in Rochester, NY) and we can get the upper grill done. Call your friends, call you relatives, call your hated Mother-in-Law, just get one here. And I'll go one better than that! We also get the next level project done, a 2 piece trunk liner that works with the back seats up or down. Great for campers, skiers, kayakers, other outdoor types, and dog owners. The same idea as the VoltMat 2 if you want to check it out.

HTH,

Steve

Hi Everyone,

A quick update to the welded vs woven stainless steel TellurideScreens. I just got the new woven in and it is closer than before to the welded in terms of airflow. It is now @70% open area, pretty close to the welded. If you are looking at the two of them and can't decide, it is now easier than ever to just say you like the looks of one more than the other. Even more than before, which screen won't make a huge difference in what it does or how well, so I would not agonize over the decision.

HTH,

Steve

Ok, I finally got time to do something NEW that I've been thinking about for a few weeks. A lot of folks love the stainless steel screens, but don't want the bright chrome look. So, now we have a new version of these for you! Matte black SS TellurideScreens!!! Yup, the same stainless steel screening covered with a durable rubberized paint (plastic dip). These look great, and give you the same great protection. Best of all, as an introductory offer, we are doing this at the same price as the bright SS ones! The first batch of the woven SS one are coming out of the paint shop right now, and will be trimmed over the weekend. These will be ready to ship on Monday. The welded SS versions will be ready to go by Tuesday or Wednesday. To give you an idea, here is a quick pic of the test pieces that I made up earlier this week. These are not on my website yet, but will be soon. Don't worry about that, just send an email and let me know that you want the black SS TellurideScreen set. I'll take it from there.
