2020 Telluride AWD rear end jerking thumping and vibrating

So my Kia dealer called me back and said a tire was not balanced and maybe their machine did not do it right and it was ready BUT they can not drive it above posted speed limit which is 60 but it drove great at 60. I am pasted pissed off. I told them I will be there at 4 and need someone to drive with me at 70 to make sure it is fixed. I will let you know how that goes
I visited my third dealer and today I drove a used 2021 EX with 23000 miles and Pirelli tires, not Michelins, there was no vibration. Calling my advanced rep right now and will report back.

Just an update on my vibration on my 22. I took the TSB in for the 21 vibration and today the took out the propeller shaft really making it a FWD instead of AWD. I was asked to drive it and after figuring out the misunderstanding between the Kia tech and the service manager (Who told me if it is not vibrating they would just leave it off lol). So it now has no vibrating and I was told I can drive it for now because the new shaft would take a couple weeks. They are recording the lot number so at some point I am willing to bet a recall is coming.

Why would you go with the same manufacturer if they’ve put you through the ringer already? I’d look elsewhere honestly.
The only reason we're still considering it is because the car outclasses the competition and because my Mazda 6 was purchased brand new in 2015.....I've done all the maintenance and it's never seen a dealer/technician. My hope was I could get the same from a new Kia. My feelings were always if I could get 200k out of a new car without needing the dealer for fix/maintenance -- that would outweigh piss poor Consumer Affairs dept.

Mazda CX-90 and Toyota Sequoia are on the table now. I'd go buy a Lincoln Aviator tomorrow but I prefer not to spend $80k

So We bought our 2020 in January of 2020. Almost right off the bat our rear end will thump and jerk on acceleration, more noticeable on a incline or a turn. When this occurs it also effects the cars acceleration. I have had it to the dealer three times, one of which the car was kept at the dealership so an engineer could be consulted. After two day I was advised that the dealership, by direction of engineering check the rear differential and reset the transmission. this fix lasted about a week. I have been advised by the service writer that Kia will have to Fix the car should anything happen, warranty or not. I am scheduling the car for yet another appointment, as this is way way past an annoyance.

It is likely that you need to adjust the driveshaft angle or grease the slip joint. This type of issue was more common in full size pickups. I have had this issue for almost 120k miles in my F-250, it doesn't bother me but that is a 20 year old truck. I suspect Kia techs won't be smart enough to figure this one out and you might have to take it to a shop that specializes in American muscle, or does custom drive shafts...they would know what to look for

Just got my 2022 SX this week and it has the dreaded vibration. Going to get the wheels balanced tomorrow and wondering if anyone has an update with their issues (and hopeful resolution). I downloaded the TSB and will bring it with me to the dealer near me (I bought it in Ewing NJ, about 1.5 hrs from me).

Over on the Sorento forum, there is a guy having the same problem. Brand new vehicle and Kia service arranged to test drive another brand new car with him riding along.

"Update... Kia dealer received SX AWD. Car had 10-12 mile PDI(pre delivery inspection) already done. Service manager and I test drove it for another 10 miles or so. It had that shake/wobble just as bad as my sorento. Service manager did notice it immediately, 'said it is just a nature of the car.' "

This of course is pure bs. Can you imagine if corporate KIA were to admit that many of their cars have a shake/wobble problem?

2022 EX with 300 miles vibration between 65/75. Balanced tires twice, new propeller shaft then said I hardly feel it, Corporate Kia tech road and instantly said it vibrates and was going to can AWD coupler but we have heard it does not help. Car was in the shop for 11 days out of 28. The dealer decided to let us trade it for a SW for the price of my EX. We did but it has the same vibration but barely noticeable. Still waiting for Kia corporation to call

Thanks, keeping my fingers crossed. My vibration is fairly subtle, most notable around 67 mph, and more noticeable if there are passengers in the car.

Ugh! Sorry to hear. I'm going back to my dealer today after speaking with my KIA tech support person AGAIN! SO FRUSTRATING. would be helpful to hear from prior forum members with this issue.

Just got my SX back from the dealer. Technician drove and noted the vibration (I did not accompany him); performed a road force balance on all 4 wheels and noted both rear were out of spec. Worksheet said the tech drove it for 20 minutes and no more vibration. I confirmed that on my ride home doing a 15 mile loop - feels like I dodged a bullet.

Note, I was hopeful after the initial wheel balance reduced the vibration to a subtle amount. Best of luck...

So updated on my former EX Nightfall. They replaced the shaft, AWD coupler and balanced the tires multiple times and no luck. My Kia dealer offer to trade it out and put us in a SX Nightfall for the same cost of our EX.

Glad to hear that KIA came through. Took them long enough but at the end of the day, all is well ....

Having this same issue with my 2022. It’s only happened twice (I’ve had the car about a week).

Was first noticed when a friend of mine was driving it as a test drive and it was in sport mode and we were just going straight down the road and we thought we hit something because it was so loud but there was nothing in the road. I suspect that you let off the gas quickly and it shifted down in gears. But not sure. Fast forward three days and I am backing out of it parking lot space and I put it into Drive and it does it again. Very loud very knocking sound. It was almost like I hit a car but I didn’t. My brother is a mechanic and he said that this could be because of tolerances on the bolts that attach the transmission. They’re tight but not tight enough and there may be some shifting happening. I will have to bring my telluride into the dealership to have my new OEM sidesteps installed and will probably have them check it at that time.

Were having this same issue with my wife's 22 Telluride. Vibration is right at 60mph, took it in a few weeks ago, at first they said there was a tsb and they would apply that fix, but came back 20 minutes later and said that TSB was only for 20/21's and the 22's were fixed, they claimed tires were out of balance, so I had to pay to have them balance them. Took it on a trip this past weekend and the vibration is still there, going in next Tuesday to get looked at again.

Get a road force balance - it should be covered under warranty and got mine at no charge.

Well, vehicle has been back to the dealer twice now, first time they road force balanced, claimed it was fixed, left and it was still vibrating. Scheduled a second appt and they said they removed the drive shaft, test drove it and it was still vibrating, so they put a scope on it and the passenger side front bearing was bad, so they ordered the part. Took it in this morning, they replaced said bearing, left the dealership, as soon as I got close to 60mph the damn vibration was still there. I had to get to work so couldn't take it back. Were heading out of town tomorrow so once were back in town I am trying a different dealer. I'm just completely blown away that they don't test drive after a repair, or if they didn't they just didn't care that it was still doing it. Pathetic dealership...

Unfortunate that your dealer didn't test drive to see if this was fixed. Hope you find a dealer with better service.
