2020 Telluride AWD rear end jerking thumping and vibrating

I know, I know...call me naive - even if I remotely get her thinking about it since she has an engineering background?
I hope it vibrates any change out of their pockets. Lol
My old man always said, what's life without hope...
The service manager and General Manager are out driving my vehicle now.
I didn't w.ant the exposure.

Yesterday turned out to be a waste of time on my part. The General Manager of Ancira Kia drove my vehicle for about 20 miles and the Service Manager accompanied him. I did not tag along because of exposure.
He came back and said he could not feel any vibration. I called BS on him because it had done it on the way to the dealer. I looked at the Service Manager and told him, "you know it vibrates because you and the Kia Tech drove it and documented it. He said it must have fixed itself." HA! well, it sure as hell vibrated on the way home. Buuuut, within 5 minutes of leaving the dealer's I received a call from their used car manager offering to buy my 2021 Nightfall Edition for $42,500. I laughed at him. He said he would talk to the General Manager to see if he could offer more. He called back about 30 minutes later and offered $44,200. I paid $47,655 and I have put 3M tinted windows and Weather Tech mats in it. My trade-in and down payment was $9,370.
I think that would be a hefty loss on my part.
I do know this, if I decide to get rid of the vehicle, I will do my research on vehicles on the Lemon Law site and will NEVER purchase another Kia or Hyundai.
These people have worked harder to get out of taking care of all these complaints than what it would have been having they just fixed the problems.
Thoroughly disgust!!!

Devils advocate - are they buying the vehicle and then replacing the Driveshaft and/or AWD Coupler (out of pocket if Kia doesn't reimburse them) and putting it for sale? Straight up ask them that question if they don't think there is any vibration...They flipping it as-is or "fixing" it up...Frustrating.

I'm dropping off my Telluride to a dealership on Monday - Service Manager seems like a straight shooter. Offered a loaner and wants to keep it for a few days. He said he has seen this on a few of the recent Kia deliveries as they sat in West Point awaiting train/truck to get delivered up to the Northeast. Basically pointing to some tire issues which I hope it is.

@Bev - did they road force wheel balance for you? Do a tire rotation moving the drivers side front to the back? Basically all of the starter steps...or did they just say no vibration here is the PICO go chop wood?

I would negotiate with the used dealer more and get another $1000 out of them and trade out of this vehicle, you will not be happy with the car knowing that vibration is there, Kia will never spend time or money to take care of this issue for you or anyone as it is not a safety threat, nor they will do a recall, probably not even a TSB. I lived through that with GM and traded out with a huuuuge loss (GM trucks do not retain any value at all). I need an AWD car and if Kia is hit and miss with vibration on these AWD models, I will be test driving it for a very long time if/when my replacement Telluride arrives at the dealer. Sad truth - there is nothing that is comparable in features/size/cabin noise to Telluride. I test drove 2021 AWD Sienna, and this a lesson on how not to build cars - the engine noise is not just annoying it is plain unacceptable but guess what Toyota dealers pre-sold all initial shipment of AWD 2021 Siennas.

Sales person went on a ride with us and wanted to do around the block only, but i said, "I am sorry, it will take a while as I need to get to 70 MPH and we need to f

They did do a road force test and kept it a week until they received a replacement tire. And that did not fix the problem.
I had confidence in my Service Manager up until yesterday. When that General Manager told me he didn't feel a vibration and I looked at the service manager and told him that he knew there was a vibration because he has driven it and documented and his answer yesterday was, I must have fixed it. SMH
I am thinking of seeing about getting another $1k and negotiate down to $500 and just take my loss and not fool with it anymore.
I am looking for replacement vehicles right now and have no idea what to get.

I'm with you. Get rid of the headache at this point. The SM is probably in on it because they want to buy it back and turn a nice profit!

If you don't need a third row there are plenty of options.

I receive an interesting email from Kia Consumers this evening.
Basically, they are offering me $2500 for my inconvenience and sign a form and basically drop this.
I told them I would send a detailed explanation of what has transpired in taking it to the dealer by tomorrow but informed them that I would need to see what they are wanting me to sign off on.
I'm thinking, hmmmm, if I can get a little more, then sell it back to the dealer for what they offered, I may be able to break even.
Then after looking at the ratings on other vehicles, there is nothing out there close to the Telluride.
I'm just not sure what to do. Or, I could take the money and pay for an independent place to fix it.
Am I the only one they are offering money to?

you're lucky, kia offers compensation. The paper that they ask to sign yuudet: refusal to further appeal on this issue but !!!!! there it will be indicated that you, your representatives, third parties cannot apply under the guarantee. That is, if a future buyer addresses this problem, they will refuse him because you have already received compensation. Be careful!

Take the money and pay out of pocket and replace the driveshaft and/or the AWD coupler. Sure not something you want to hear and it's sad you have to go that route but you clearly love the Telluride outside of this issue.

I'd take that money and fix it myself to be honest. I have relationships with master techs that would run laps around Kia service techs (nothing against them).

Maybe that lady I emailed had Kia consumer affairs pull all of the files with vibration claims in them? Again I'm being naive.

Maybe more of us should email that lady then!!

I don't know to respond to that particular lady because after I sent my formal complaint in, they assigned me a number. From then on it went back to the lady I was dealing with named Melissa. Today was a different lady higher up.

Curious if a quality drivetrain shop can pull the current driveshaft and coupler and test it for balance/rotational efficiency...? It may be something that can be fixed at a more reasonable cost using the current setup vs creating a brand new setup to replace the OEM with. I HATE that this is something that Kia is not doing themselves under warranty but given the possible $2500 inconvenience payment maybe @Bev can take a shot at keeping her dream ride. In any case, still a sad series of events. I feel for you Bev.

Someone needs to tell Kia that it would cost them less than $2500 to get the driveshaft balanced at a local driveshaft company...

I'm assuming they are more interested in getting someone to sign that release from liability document...

Either way I sense the needle moving a little bit on this issue. Haven't read the entire thread but @Bev is the first instance where I've seen Kia offer a cash settlement for said issue.

I think my note to the Executive Director of Product Quality at Kia may have caused some rumblings.

Someone on her team gave me a call today to discuss the issue. I explained what some of us are going through on this thread.

I'm taking my Telluride to a dealer on Monday morning to diagnose and the Kia rep said she is going to give the SM a heads up (that I'm most likely going to be a pain in th a**).

I honestly wasn't expecting a call from that e-mail - I'm quite surprised.

How can I send you a copy of an email? Isn't there a way on here to do that?
If you have some place for an independent check, you might take it there too.
It's sad we're dealing with this stuff when we should get focused on Christmas and family.

You can copy and paste it into a private message if u don't want it to be public.

I see where I can send an email but do I send it to JerseySXP and it'll get to you?
PM sent.

I know it's common but my Telluride also needs an alignment...oh the joys...it's veering to the left quite a bit.

So today I went and drove an FWD Telluride and remembered why I chose the AWD. As far as I'm concerned, an FWD is not an option.
I did however negotiate a better deal with the Kia Dealer and will probably sell them my vehicle this coming Wednesday. Between what the dealer gives me and Kia gives me, I should be even and not worry about this vehicle anymore.
I have not made up my mind if I will buy another Telluride or not but am not ruling it out.
I still plan on taking it to the Driveshaft Specialist for a diagnosis and post that on here to help others.

good news. If you have the financial ability, jump off this drug (marketing and / or pseudo) and buy a normal car. In your situation, you shouldn't be nervous and worried, so choose a brand where there is a good customer-oriented service. And of course be healthy!

Hey all, I just got a new 2021 EX Wolf Gray Nightfall AWD. Car is absolutely gorgeous and is turning heads all over the NYC streets!

I do have some concerns though. I’m coming from a Durango RT with a hemi so I knew going in the Telluride is going to feel different and more polite. However right away I noticed that I feel a lot of feedback through the gas pedal and floorboard. My girl in the passenger seat says it feels smoother than the Durango so maybe it’s just the driver side. I also feel like the brake pedal is a little wobbly when you move your foot to it.

I’ve read a bit on this thread and my issue is constant, not just at 70ish mph, it honestly feels a bit smoother at higher speeds that driving around town. I just feel every single bump, unevenness, etc in the road through the pedal and it’s driving me nuts. Is that just how the Telluride drives? My tires are at 46 psi so I’m going to lower that and check. Thanks

Def lower the PSI and check again.

I have the 20in rims on mine and I know that could be causing an interesting ride for me...

Get it checked out.
