If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 42 Way Ceramic Coating synthetic wax longevity test Perfection Correction - 1yr 8 months

I have XPEL Fusion CC on mine...

After watching so many videos of Pan and Scott and so much inspiration from yall out here especially @JerseySXP. I decided to get some small detailing going on. Tested things out today and i'm pretty impressed with my work. On another note, I my garage door ripped off the "L" at the back. any suggestions on where to get a replacement? How hard is it to put a new one in?

LOL - my garage door also attacked the same "L" on the back end but just scratched it. Dealer is going to it fix in 2 weeks.

This was caused because I was working on my Telly in the middle of the garage and walked near the back side and the rear lift gate that detected the key fob in my pocket and opened the door automatically. I couldn't get there in time to stop it from opening - bumped up against the bracket on the garage door. I have since turned off the lift gate proximity feature. I thought about simply changing the open door height but this wasn't the first time the lift gate tried to open unexpectedly because I walked near the back end with the FOB in my pocket. LESSONS LEARNED

Replacement letters
- The Telluride Store on this forum has the Nightfall black letters for the Telluride for $60. I'm sure you can find a chrome set somewhere. They just stick on with 3M double-sided tape. A little heat from a heat gun or hairdryer will loosing the existing letter enough to carefully pry it off.

Ooph. Take a few weeks off from the forum and this thread blows up!!

New toy means new detailing needs! Was trying to hold out for a C7 GS but prices are staying too high and couldn’t pass up a crazy Good deal on a local C6 GS with a procharger. This will hold me over for a while. Back into the C6 game I guess!!

paint is probably a 7/10, hard water spots and some etching here and there, typical swirls and hazing. Minimal rock chips. Funny thing is it has a (poorly maintained) ceramic coating on it so washing is a breeze but the overall condition needs a correction. Oh and the dreaded 1/2 panel PPF up front, barf.

got some other stuff to do to it first but 2 step correction, PPF, and coating is on the short list.

Telluride gets a nice deep clean later today or tomorrow morning, pretty dusty outside and dirty inside right now. It never ends!

thanks mate! Is the dealer fixing this at a cost of warranty? I do have some scratches too

No charge to me is all I know. The detailer is going to do a simple polish to remove the scratches on the letter.

Wow. Very nice rides. Love the little red Corvette. You have good taste!

When the tires shine just right in the sun after a detail. Love that the days are getting longer!

Awesome :). I can't wait until Spring in the Midwest to arrive so I can do a full detail. I have all the equipment organized and ready to go.

Hopefully, our last snowfall is on this coming Monday.

Finally got my Black Copper SX Nightfall back from the "Prep Guy" who did the paint correction and wash, Bikini XPEL Ultimate Frontend with Damage Package (inside door, inside handle, etc) and part hood then Ceramic Coating. I had him do the rear side windows with 45 tint to include rear window and front sides with 20. I then had 20 added to the sunroof as I live at the beach. I added UV Sunshield screen to the front windshield. I changed out the Kia badges with the 'K' badges. I replaced my dealer-supplied metal license plate with a black silicone frame for sound deadening and matching color effect.

I added Cocoa WeatherTech mats inside but read reviews and decided to go with Toughpro cargo mat for the rear and am glad I did. I love the texture and fit better than the WeatherTech and was willing to trade-off the Cocoa match-up. My former WeatherTech in my Infiniti had a slippage issue.

I store my car in an airconditioned garage as it gets hot at the beach in North Carolina. If folks are interested I will go through my internal and external detailing process (i.e tommorow I will use Brickmore Leather Conditioner on the seats) and other inside techniques to preserve the value of this car. By the way, I am not a detailer by any stretch. I am a retired maintenance and reliability consultant (49 years) and we advise infrastructure and oil and gas companies how to maximize the uptime on their fleets and fixed assets. One of the techniques is operator care or frontline maintenance. If you look closely at my garage (background) you will see it is well organized and orderly (I use 5Ss). I learned long ago to maximize the residual value of a piece of equipment --maintain that equipment through the course of its lifespan but do it in a tidy environment.

For example, I turn in a piece of leased equipment this Friday that I have had for three years and to make sure there are no associated charges, I will detail it and have made arrangements to have a small three-inch scratch touched up this Wednesday to max the residual value on that car. I would do the same if I owned it. You max the value through routine care. It will cost me $50 for the touch-up and present an immaculate vehicle.

If you are interested in my internal and external care routines I use two buckets with dirt-filters, foam gun, mostly Chemical Guy stuff except a few products that are not I avoid sunny days and do my finish work inside. I will detail every two weeks because of the dirt and salt here.

The first shot is a full-frontal. Next pic is the replaced badge. Next shot shows the Bikini XPEL including headlight protection. Next is the Side with inside and door protection. Next is UV Windshield Protection. The last is a collision and bumper protection (just kidding)

I just completed my first DIY ceramic coating using the Armor Shield IX kit. I decided to do it before the first wash right after we picked it up from the dealer to avoid having to paint correct the car first. This saved me a bunch of time as well has having to invest in a new dual action polisher (my current one is from Harbor Freight 😝).

I’d say the overall process was very straight forward, as long as you follow the instructions they provide and watch the YouTube videos they email after purchasing the product. Here’s a few lessons learned:

1. I should have purchased 2 bottles of the ceramic coating. Each is 30ml and you need about 50ml to fully coat our Tellurides. I ended up skipping glass for now (will treat later).
2. You want to be pretty liberal when adding drops to the micro-suede applicator. The ceramic coating is very volatile and evaporates quickly if you dont move fast enough.
3. In 70+ degree weather like it is here in Houston, you only need to wait about 60 seconds for the product to ‘flash’ before lightly buffing it off. I started out waiting 2.5 minutes each time, but it was almost too dry at that point.
4. Buy a cheap squirt bottle for isopropyl alcohol. You need to give the car an IPA wipe down before applying the coating. I found it easiest to just pour some in a squirt bottle and use a clean microfiber for this step.
5. The key is to take your time and ensure even coverage on all panels. All in all I spent around 9 hours total doing the job. (This would be longer if you had to do paint correction first).

Otherwise it was very simple, and I feel so much more confident in ceramic coating now that I’ve done this myself. I would even argue that it’s much easier than traditional waxing since the product wipes off very easily. For only $50 (after promo code) and a couple long nights, you’ll get all the benefits of ceramic protection. However please note, as this is a DIY kit, the coating is only good for about 2 years whereas the professional grade ones have 5 year protections. Still... even if I have to do this again in 2 years its worth it.

Now all that’s left to do is kick back.... grab a beer 🍺... and wait about 48 hours for the ceramic coating to fully cure.

Pics to follow, once I can get it out in the sun!!

Here are the results of my DIY ceramic coating, for those following along with my previous post. I still have another 8 hours before it’s fully cured, but couldn’t resist getting her out in the sun for some photos.

I’m really impressed with the additional level of gloss achieved with this coating. White cars are the hardest to see reflections on... but as you can tell it really brought out the shine.
