If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... AC Leak. AC Issues

I ordered these from Steve and it was super easy! He answered all my questions about the best materials and looks.

Hi Everyone,

I just finished off a new batch of TellurideScreen sets, both the black ones and the black stainless steel ones. These continue to be very popular and are a really good option to eliminate the concern of a punctured AC compressor. Things here at the shop are really humming these days, but if anyone wants to get one more stocking stuffer for their Telly, I've got them here and can get them on the way immediately. At this point, that means the package will have time to get to anywhere in the country if the USPS does its part right.

Thanks for your support and happy holidays!

Steve

Thanks Steve! Meant to post pics a while back. They are super easy to install and barely noticeable. I used the tiny zip ties and they look great.

I really like @Scarlett solution but for those in the DIY crowd you can get some rain gutter guards ($16 in supplies) from your favorite home improvement store. Took me a few hours to get my bumper off and cut/install these...

I get it. If I had planned better and didn't need to do this last minute for a road trip from Dallas to OK, I probably would've gone Scarlett's route.

But to be honest taking off the bumper wasn't that bad. All the sensors are connected via one master cable that can be disconnected easily. It would have been much faster too with another set of hands.

I'll try and do a write up when I get back from my trip.

For those who like the look of the rain gutter insert but don't want to remove their bumper, here is what I did:

Thread 'DIY Metal Grille Inserts' DIY Metal Grille Inserts

Took about 1.5 hours to complete. That being said, I do like the look of going behind the bumper, however, I too didn't want to take that off :)View attachment 14088

@Scarlett What's the difference between the black and black ss. I was under the impression they were both steel.

Also, does anyone have pictures or a walk-through of what exactly needs to be done to the telluride front plate?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Freakrule! The black ones are an expanded metal (Steel) that are powdercoated. The black SS ones are stainless steel and are plastic dipped in black. The powdercoating is good, but if you are in a northern climate where you are dealing with snow, salt and such, it will eventually need to be touched up. That is easy, just take it off, put it on the driveway and hose it down with a good coat of rusteloeum or similar. The plastic dip on the SS ones may need to be retouched some day as well, but the SS underneath it won't rust away.

The front plate is straightforward. Remove the license plate. Locate the two rectangular holes in the plate bracket, score around these and remove the material that are actually fingers that extend back to the grill. Then pull the top of the bracket slightly forward and you can slide the screen in behind it. An alternative is to remove the bracket from the car (3 screws), trim about 1/2" off of these fingers with a pair of shears or utility knife, install the screen, and then reinstall the bracket. All of this is pretty simple and illustrated instructions are included with the TellyScreen set. The key idea is not to over think things. We try to keep them simple.

HTH!

Steve

Plate removal is straightforward. First obviously are the two philips screws at the top holding the plate to the bracket. After that just three philips screws that hold the bracket to the bumper. I think it is also an option to trim/dremel your bracket so you don’t have to remove it at all for installation of the upper mesh screens.

Below is a photo of the bracket and my plastic gutter mesh behind the grill (no bumper removal needed). Mine has held up well, no stuck leaves and no cracks or damage since install last June. Not perfect but serves its purpose.

Thanks everyone for the quick response! I'm assuming that both have the same strength then but the SS is rust proof. Makes the decision easier. Will the product be continually made or is it limited? I ask this because I don't currently have a Telluride. I will be getting one but have to wait till after new house is built. I don't want credit impact affecting mortgage rates.

Hi Freakrule,

I don't have any strength or breakage numbers here, but what I will tell you is that if anything gets through either of these screens, you are going to need a lot more than a new screen to fix your car.... With the VoltScreens I also make, I've had reports of bird strikes, frogs, and rocks that left huge dents in the screen with out any damage to the radiator behind. I've also spoken to owners that struck a raccoon and a turkey. The VoltScreen was intact, but the impact was so much that both the raccoon and turkey ended up in the space behind the grill. The screen was bent, but able to be straightened out and re-used. The turkey was DOA. The racoon was presumed to be DOA, and the owner limped the car home another mile or two. The next morning, the raccoon was gone.... I prefer to think that the VoltScreen cushioned the blow and Rocky Raccoon came to, crawled out, and limped his way home. Imagine his explanation of that to Mrs. Raccoon when he got home the next morning....

I have both versions of the TellyScreens in stock, and ready to go. I will continue to stock them as long as there is a need. And there will be. Once this kind of thing starts with a particular car, it just doesn't go away. I'm still selling VoltScreens to owners of 2011 Volts, as many as every. Knowing this history, I'll have TellurideScreens for all of you.

Steve

Trust me Steve. I'm already sold on the black SS woven. I just didn't want to purchase quite yet due to not having the Telluride and of course the move after new house is finished. Knowing my luck I would lose them.

No problem. I just don't want anyone to think that this is a fly by night thing. I get asked quite frequently if I'm still at it. I am and I will be. I'm doing this because I love it, and idle hands are the work of the devil, or so says the boss.... I'll be right here when you are ready.

Thanks,

Steve

How did you get it behind the grill without removing the bumper? From below or above...or thru?
