Good Dealer Dealings - List Your Good Dealer Experience

Hello all,

Happy new Kia owner here in Northern Cali. Purchased my Telluride SXP in dark moss/dune brown with tow this past Saturday at msrp with 1k rebate from Jim Bone Kia in Santa rosa and am loving it! Dan Z. and Jefferson D. were awesome, patient, respectful, easy to work with and answered all my questions...best car buying experience I've ever had! I did have to wait 6 months for my order, but was well worth the wait. Dan kept me informed and even offered at times other Tellurides in different colors and options, but I was set on what I ordered. When I buy my next Kia it will be from Jim Bone Santa Rosa!

did they give you your order number or a copy of the kdealer entry and did you have a written offer sheet stating msrp? did they confirm your order was placed once you placed it?

Just trying to gauge what people are doing. I’m hearing some funky stories and would like to be protected.

Hi Forum - long time lurker, first time poster - wanted to share my experience here in Cincinnati Ohio. Not doing this for referral gift cards or anything, this forum has helped me tremendously and I wanted to return the favor.

My wife and I picked up our SXP on Wednesday from Shawn Harvey - Kings KIA. It was a pleasant customer experience, we started looking early January and they happened to have the color/trim we were looking for coming in on 2/17. Got the Vin on Monday and it was in delivered two day later. Well ahead of schedule. Dealer sells at MSRP, no add-on's or weird shenanigans, $250 doc fee (Ohio), manufactuer rates and rebates, met the kbb value on our trade in etc.. I asked shawn to provide me the order sheet for incoming tellurides in case anyone was interested. It's as current as 2/5. See attached. BTW the 'N' means 'New allocation' and any model without a name is unsold (as of COB on 2/5)

I asked on behalf of the forum that aren't local to cincy and they do shipping as well (example $800~ shipping cost for a recent order to a lady in California). I communicated with Shawn via Facebook and Text. He's very Quick to respond. I'm also attaching his business card as well. Nice guy - deserves an opportunity at your business if you're in the market.

$8000 shipping cost to California should be $1000-1500 tops. Love everything else I’ve heard though!

I don't recall getting an order number or kdealer entry, but did get a printed offer sheet with all options and the msrp. Dan did confirm order was placed. Dan at Jim Bone Kia is pretty straight forward and kept me informed. They are really pleasant to work with. Hope this helps.

Did you trade-in? How did they do on trade-in? Did you agree on trade in at the time of order placement?

Hendrick kia of Cary
I picked up my black copper sx-p last wed. They were great to deal with. They sold it at msrp, no pressure.

I just bought my Telluride from Blackwell Kia in Danville, VA at MSRP. Everyone I worked with was very nice and accommodating. I went to them after I saw they had the vehicle I wanted in the VIN listing from this website. Sales manager Tony Adcock was great. They were 5 hours away so we handled everything over the phone to get financing paperwork started and lineup my insurance coverage. At my request he got the front windows tinted and the interior and exterior protectant package applied before pickup. The finance manager was super sweet and easy to work with. Salesman Larry Elsey was helpful going over info at pickup and following up after to see if I needed anything. Highly recommend them!

Kbo2499 who was the dealer you dealt with at Hendrick?

@JP#,

FYI, I was taking a look at the stats for the dealership at which you ordered - NC032, and that is a pitifully small dealership (Auto Park Kia?). They have only had 75 allocations since the launch, and only 5 SX-P. They average 1 SX-P every 2-3 months - so unless you're the next person in line to go into KFOS when they get an allocation, it could be a painfully long wait. Be sure to ask how many SXP are in front of you - it could be okay if there is only 1 or 2 in front. Otherwise, good that you're exploring other options and dealers. In contrast, Hendrick Kia of Cary has had 196 total allocations (through 2/18) and 35 have been Prestige. This is a much better rate. Hendrick of Concord has had 127 allocations, but only 8 have been Prestige - not very good. Good luck, but thought I'd share because your dealer didn't seem too enthusiastic about being able to get your vehicle in 6 months after your 1/27 order. You might want to order somewhere else too.

Thanks jw_tx you were reading my mind exactly. May have to jump boat here.

CA members are you seeing a lot of Tellurides on the road? I ask because I was looking at the VIN sheet and I saw one dealership with 400+ and the next with 500+ WOW. Kia of Muncie who we all know is great and reputable and shipping around the country has 90+. I have seen a telluride on the road around here (NYC metro area) since october maybe 50 times.

Starting to see more on the road but not many. Sort of a mini event for us when we see one because we’ve got a car on order.

Not seeing a lot of SX cars. More EX.

For me too. Shared some smiles and waves with fellow owners on the road.

I wanted to share my experience purchasing a black copper SXP today (2/24) in Naples, Florida. I wrote in detail about it in the "Kia Telluride US production stats. by trim and colors" sub forum. I started searching in mid-January and placed an order with a Tampa-area dealer January 20 with expected delivery in April or May. I kept searching . Using TellyStats, I located a match at Airport Kia in Naples, but they told me that car had already sold. However, Saturday, about 10 days after the initial conversation, they called me back and asked whether I still wanted the car. Apparently, the buyer canceled their order late making the car available. After a short phone negotiation, I agreed to pick the car up today. It was a long drive--300 miles--but worth it. The sales manager, Leonard, said someone came in Sunday and offered $2k more than our agreed price. They also had an Ebony SXP they offered me, but that one sold on Sunday as well. I'm not sure I'll be a repeat buyer from Airport--that's a long drive--but if they have a vehicle I want, I won't have any hesitation going back.
