In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Headlight Led Upgrade

It’s not that hard. You got this. Also, be sure to watch the YouTube video by LasFit. It walks you the whole process.
I’ve watched it a couple times now, and probably another dozen times before I pick it up in the beginning of June. It’ll be the first time I’ve messed with changing out headlights and all. I pretty much intend to change out all the same bulbs they do in that Lasfit YT video as well. The one that throws me is the front turn signal lights, wasn’t a great shot showing where or how to access them.

Which Twelvolt LEDs are you guys replacing your halogens with by the way? Several different models on their website, not sure which way to go!

Yeah, I didn’t change those out. Just the headlights

Awesome, thanks! Has anyone had to disconnect anything in the engine bay to make it easier to maneuver around changing the lights?

Not that I know of. I just followed the video and it went perfect.

Alrighty, that’s good. I’m not the smallest guy around (definitely not a humble brag or anything, just big boned), and I’m a complete novice with this stuff, so just nervous I guess!

Im a new member here. I have a question, or a few. I have the LX trim and i plan to upgrade my headlights and front turn signals to LEDs, but i was told that LEDs dont work well with projector headlights or something like that .According to the guy i talked to, the lights wont be spread out evenly and the visibility wont be that great since the lights wont reach that far out. He also suggested that i should just get HIDs since they work well with projectors.

Now, my questions are:
1. Is it true that LEDs wont work quite well with projector? Like, is the pattern or whatever will not be evenly spread out and it will be more like scattered? If thats's not true, what would be the best LED lights for headlights (low/hi) and turn signals with the brightest or most lumens?

2. Is it also true that the wire might get melted if i switch to LEDs? Because the guy at the dealership where i got my telly from says so. The guy at the shop where i want to get my LEDs from and installed says otherwise. I know LEDs have a cooling system so im quite leaning towards that the LEDs wont burn anything.

3. If let's say LEDs are not the best bet, any suggestion on the best and brightest HIDs?

I apologize if any or all of these have been asked before. It's just that there are 24 pages on this thread. Thats a lot of pages and that would be quite a long read.

I ran LEDs in my Sorento projection lenses with no problems at all. Had a great light pattern and no wiring issues. Don't trust your guy at the dealership. There's quite a few here running LEDs on the Telluride. One will probably chime in soon.

Chances are the wire isn't going to melt and whoever told you that is talking out of their ass.

As far as beam pattern, you won't get nearly as a uniform of a beam pattern than the shit OEM halogen bulbs. That being said, you can reliably find aftermarket LEDs that cast a wider and longer beam pattern than said shit OEM halogens.

I have the Sealight 3s and while insanely bright, the beam pattern leaves much to be desired and theirs a dead spot in front of the vehicle. Adjusting the beans isn't always going to fix these issues.

Another LED option is Twelvolt. That is where I got mine from. The beam pattern is really good. I believe it’s the 9005 bulb (look for verbiage on this bulb on their website that states that it’s compatible for the Telluride). They are still open for business and Brett can answer all of your questions. He is very helpful.

Twelvolt quoted me $150 for led bulbs. I'm already in the hole for $100 for the sea lights, and the twelvolt to my knowledge were not designed around the Telluride's projector housing.

It looks like they’re on sale right now for $129 or so, but I’m not sure how long that’ll be for. My Telluride won’t be here till early June at the earliest, so hopefully that discount will still be running then. They do have a bulb listed in there stating it works with the Telluride, plus a few people on here seem to have had success with their bulb as well.

You may be searching for something that may be very difficult to find. Unless Kia develops or certifies a Retrofit LED bulb for their halogen designed housing you are basically searching for an LED bulb manufacturer to design a bulb that measures the LED chip to optimal size and placement at which point they would charge a premium much higher than $100-150 to recoup their costs (unless you are willing to give them your Telluride for months to custom build a bulb.) It will be a very high price because based on the Tellystats lookup 50,200 nonSX 2020 Kias have been produced. So if Kia improves the headlights in the 2021, an aftermarket bulb reseller will be manufacturing and trying to sell a very specific bulb to a very small number of buyers.

The next best thing is to find something that is off-the-shelf (but not as generic and widely marketed like the Sealights) that based on reviews other Telluride owners feel are an upgrade to the OEM Halogen and provide a good coverage spread while minimizing dark spots common in aftermarket retrofits for a reasonable price. I’m pretty sure that’s what Twelvolts offer you.

The fit is a little tight but they definitely work. I swapped out the o-rings from the OEM Halogen lights and used them on the Twelvolts (including putting extra lubricant on the rings) and got them to fit. The previous threads talk a lot about Twelvolt and people are happy with them, including myself.

So how does the o-ring come off of these lights by the way? Do you just pull them off, do they unscrew, etc?

Hello everyone! My name is David, owner of Automotive Custom Lighting. We are looking into best lighting upgrades for this vehicle as we speak. We are a professional lighting shop that does installation and product sales. We mainly deal with Diode Dynamics as they are the only company in the USA that actually makes their own bulbs. They took the time and research into designing an LED bulb that will shine correctly in OEM projector and Reflective style headlight housings. Below is a link to that kit. Here soon we should have some test results for this vehicle specifically. We can build full on custom headlights or just do simple LED replacements. Feel free to check us out on Facebook or Instagram.

were you guys able to make these custom lights?

Awesome!! That's great!!! And yes, the wire in the back of the bulbs should be at the 6 o'clock position (at the bottom). That ensures that the LED chips are facing upwards. Once you get the chance to drive and pull it up to a wall or garage door the beam pattern should look like this picture.

Could this be a reason why some are getting the black spots?
