Murray kia order to delivery time

Hopefully, we'll have more information. I ordered about a month after you and hopefully still in my charge back time frame.

This is crazy that this is happening now after all this time waiting.
This is kind of my position. We’re near the end of this long wait, we’ve been pretty excited until this weekend. I’m all for submitting a complaint to Kia America about the dealer. ( ksupport.kiausa.com/consumeraffairs )

I’ve been really patient but this news has changed that. I’m now impatient to learn more about their go forward plan. We actually put our order in 6 months ago as of this past Friday.

If it were me, and I was still waiting for an order I placed with Murray, I will be contacting the dealer asking them for a written guarantee that I was still paying MSRP.
Based on my conversation today with Chris, they will not be making any guarantees until management provides more info.

I mean, that's slightly encouraging...but still, not a definite answer. I'm still very concerned/upset/livid at the moment.
I haven't confirmed this, but someone told me that manufacturers are starting to crack down on dealers that are charging large markups. Reason being that excessive markups come across as greedy and taking advantage of an already difficult situation for many people (due to the rapid inflation) and it starts to tarnish the reputation of the manufacturer.

Again, I have not confirmed this in any way but if it's true and our MSRP orders are not honored, then a large number of complaints to KIA could have some sway.

Still just waiting on some clarity from the dealer. It's shocking to me that the new owners have not communicated their intentions on how they will handle ~$2m worth of outstanding orders on Tellurides. Haven't even communicated it to their sales team..
Just checked their website: Murray Kia | Conshohocken, PA Kia Dealership and they officially changed their logo to Raceway Kia of Conshohocken. Looks like they filed for the DBA on Feb 22. I will probably call them later today to figure out if they will still honor the MSRP for our original orders..
This makes me sick to my stomach. I'm on a tight budget and have been planning everything around this car being @ MSRP. My vehicle is set to arrive in about 2 weeks or so. This really seems like a bait and switch scenario. $10,000 markup? LOL. That has to be one of the highest in the country. Absolute BS is what this is.
So I’m writing a complaint to Kia America, and am mentioning that if my terms are not honored from the time of deposit, that
I will be filing a complaint with the PA AG as well as the FTC.

I’m hoping they can push new owners to do the right thing with orders placed at MSRP under previous ownership.

If they decide to pursue this $10k surcharge, I’m hoping everyone else would join me in filing a complaint against Kia America as well as ‘Raceway Kia of Conshohocken’ (formerly Murray’s).

I will be right behind you, but since my vehicle should be here any day now, I plan to wait to see what happens. Seems like the outcome is completely unknown at this point. Still hoping this whole thing is an ugly rumor and they do the right thing.

Agreed. I will join as well if this rumor turns out to be true. My vehicle is due in sometime (hopefully) next week.

Me too. It would be terrible business practice, and they’ll say we’re not their customers if they walk it back, but they did take our money and so we are a customer of theirs.

I’m eagerly awaiting your Telly arrival almost more than mine lol

I'm also behind you guys. ETA for my telly is 5/20. I really hope they honor it as I have no other backup plans.

I decided to submit a complaint to Kia America based on my conversation today. I don’t have any rapport with the salesperson nor ownership for them to do right by their customers.
They’re putting their commission paid salespeople in severe conflict of interest if they walk back the agreements from prior ownership. Salespeople will stand to make approx 20% more per sale if they move forward with price gouging. I used to sell cars, I’d be fine with more commission on top of MSRP!
I also have no back up plan in place… but will start thinking about one, maybe even consider the dealership in WV honoring MSRP

Has any one reached out to Roger recently if they'll honor the previous offer to sell at MSRP?

I have still not received a response from him or someone at the dealership.

I touched base with him last week, and Chris this week. The story seems to be more information to come as nothing has been confirmed.

Yeah this sounds right. I got a response from Roger on Friday evening and other's have had communication this week. Sounds like there's still no clear information. My car was supposed to show up Sunday but looks like it's still in transit. Assuming it shows up this week, I'll wait until it's in before asking about the MSRP price. But if it takes too much longer then I will want to know ASAP.. Since I need to look for another car seeing as my other one is sold.

I got a similar answer, but left the door open for a situation where the terms may change.

I’m concerned first about the lack of communication around the change in ownership. Feels like something they would be shouting from a bullhorn.

Secondly, I’m concerned about the lack of communication between new management and the customer facing folks we interact with. The new ownership would most certainly be aware of current business climate there, outstanding orders with deposits, the stated policy at the time those orders were placed, and all the ancillary stuff like services and parts departments, etc. Further concerning is the lack a plan for those in our bucket. It’s pretty simple for new management to say they’ll honor the pre-orders, but they haven’t done that out of the gate and let their salespeople communicate that back to us. This is my main reason for submitting my complaint.

I am not surprised of the lack of communication being that it is Allentown Kia. It is the same experience I had when I was dealing with them. It’s a shame, really, because the salesperson I dealt with there was super cool and knowledgeable. I was just not going to get raked over the coals just to own a Telluride (or any other run-of-the-mill vehicle).

Adding insult to injury, Stephen can no longer see details regarding VINs slotted for Murray KIA. The VINs are in the system but no longer have details like ETA.

Hopefully their system updates soon to Raceway KIA and ETAs will become available again.

But in the meantime.. we're in the dark. No ETAs, no guarantees on MSRP price.

I could see the new owners salivating looking at the list of incoming Telluride orders and what the potential profit could be (given their penchant for massive markups at the Allentown Kia location). Back when I looked, their website had a popup showing the adjusted selling price with their "Market Adjustment". This was last year and they were marking up the SXPs about 20%. Now when I look at their website, they don't tell you what the markup is, it just says "Price may increase with market trends".

It all depends on how much they care about profit vs. customers (and doing the right thing). Even if they refunded everyone's deposits, they can make that back with 2-3 tellurides at $10k over MSRP.

If they overcharge AND refuse to refund deposits, that's absolutely greedy and horrible on their part. They should not be allowed to do business ever again.

If they overcharge and refund deposits, still greedy, but not quite as horrible. Absolutely sucks for those of us that have spent 6 months waiting, but lets be honest, this is the culture we have. If profit can be maximized, 90% of the time that's the way a business will go unless they are screwing people so bad that lawsuits/investigations are brought up.

The way I see it, they'd be just jumping into the pool with most dealerships across the country that are price gouging. The dealers accepting MSRP are the exception and seem to care more about customers and their reputation (or at the very least have decided they can still achieve a comfortable profit with high volume).

For all of our sake, let's hope they continue to be the exception that Murray KIA was, or at the very least honor the orders already placed. I just wish we could get some clarity!!

I'm curious If anyone has tried to start a new order at Murray since they changed ownership. Are they officially charging any mark up for new orders placed today?

I just called and asked the receptionist if they will be honoring the MSRP pricing with the new owners and she said yes it will be honored.

I’m going to email Roger to confirm but thoughts I’d share.

Thanks for sharing! I will feel better once Roger confirms, but wow that's a weight off.

I’d take it with a grain of salt. The same receptionist also told me they were not being sold either. I’d trust Rogers response though

I had my good friend call to inquire. He has bought from Murray before, as has his father.

He was told that they are selling tellurides, currently at $5000 over msrp now that they’re under new ownership. My friend clarified by asking if he had bought six months ago, and was told it would have been at msrp.

So nothing of much value in terms of our situations, but they are admitting that they would have sold him one at msrp before new ownership.
