Murray kia order to delivery time

So I just got an email from Roger saying my Telluride is ready for pick up, even though yesterday I was told my ETA was May 31st.

@LhTelly have you heard anything?
Yes I just got the same email. My ETA from Stephen yesterday was May 28. My only guess is that something from the change of ownership/name of the dealership screwed up the details and tracking for our vehicles. Anyway, I'm both excited and nervous to see how this goes.

Uh oh, i just got a message from Roger saying one of the managers would reach out yo me within a week. I ordered in mid December, and as of 30 days ago, was 25th on the list. So i was hoping to hear soon that the order was picked up for kfos...

Reading through all the recent posts, sounds like we still do not have a clear picture for those of us whose orders haven't been picked up yet.

Have I missed anything? My recollection of cobtracts from my days in procurement was that sendind a deposit, and Murray accepting the deposit for sale of the car at msrp constitutes a contract. Even adding $ due to self-financing after the fact is changing the contract.

Any other updatea?

I got the same response from Roger last week and within a few days received an email that my order was being cancelled because of the wait and them not being able to hold deposits that long.

I’m just confused as Raceway continues to tell me that they have cancelled all orders that weren’t picked up yet but then there are a few people here who have been told they weren’t picked up and their orders will be honored (unless I misunderstood their posts).

I’m not sure how the contract aspect works with change in ownership but I was under that Impression as well.

Confirmed that it is not canceled and that our vehicle will be at msrp, also confirmed it’s not in kfos yet.

Said 1-2 months to deliver after VIN is issued but also mentioned port to lot delivery isn’t going as smoothly as previously.

Said they haven’t cancelled orders unless specifically instructed to do so
Can you confirm who you spoke with? I just tried following back up with Cory and was told that every order not placed will be cancelled and that someone saying otherwise either hasn’t been contact yet or didn’t actually use Murray/Raceway.

Well the "not holding deposits that long" is absolute BS. Havent been able to fibd anything specific for PA Law, but nothing in the confirmation email or the email describing the program identifies any "right" for the dealer to cancel. So they may jist be doing this to see who complains or fights back....

Man I regret not going through Roger for my order.

On their website it looks like 5 k was added to the MSRP of the cars incoming. I'm starting to doubt the information the other guy received was accurate.

I just called and they said if it wasn't allocated they would be refunding the deposits. Waiting on a call back from their manager to confirm.

Corey confirmed that any order not picked up is being cancelled, apparently 90ish people. I just complained to kia corporate although I doubt it'll do anything.

Will be curious to see why they believe they have that ability.

Who wamts to chip in for an attorney consultation? .

I believe a "new" owner would not be bound by contracts with the previous owner unless he specifically assumed those obligations. It would depend on the details of the sale, which we may not be privy to. Unfortunately, any agreement to buy/sell at MSRP would have been with Murray and not Raceway. I would like to think the new owners would honor the prior deals since they seem to holding the deposits, but they may not have to legally.

If they purchased the legal entity of Murray vs the assets of the dealership then they assume all legal obligations unless specufically excluded. Straight forward contract law. The fact the new owners are refunding the money vs the murray family suggests they assumed those deposits. I think the game they're playing is their position is our deposits AR not a contract sale and merely a reservation until Kia picks up the order. But because the deposits are nonrefundable that implies a contract. But I'm not a lawyer I just have written a lot of contracts in my career

I am starting to get worried/extremely frustrated with the communication now that ownership has changed. I sent Roger several emails inquiring about the ETA (picked up 3/14; Roger gave ETA of last week of June back in March) as well as whether they will they honor MSRP as agreed.

He sends me an email today only stating that we are on track for end of June ETA…nothing about MSRP.

I think my Telluride appeared on failcat under Raceway on 4/28. I used the track my deliver thread on this board, and was told the ETA should be 5/28.

Something is just not adding up, and I do not like the short non responsive message I received. Seems Raceway did not really plan the take over very well. I am making a purchase of almost $40,000…you would think these people would be bending over backwards to communicate timely with us.

I’m tapping out at this point. I’ve gone back and forth with Raceway and filed a complaint with Kia but at this point am going to cut my losses. I honestly don’t want to do business with Raceway after how things have been handled but was holding out hope they would change their mind about orders. They own so many dealerships that they could care less about Murray’s customers.

If anyone finds any dealers not selling at a crazy mark up please let me know. Otherwise I might be looking for a different car.

Good luck to everyone holding out hope that your order will still be picked up.

Picked up my Telluride today. For those of you whose orders haven't been canceled and have vehicles incoming and are stressing about what the price will be, I'll get this out of the way now:

THEY HONORED THE MSRP PRICE. No discussion was needed. They just gave it to me.

I was there for about 2.5 hours, mainly because I had to fill out the financing app again (on paper - gasp!) and I had a trade-in that had to be dealt with. Even though I had already applied for financing online two days ago, I was told that was still all setup for Murray Kia and that they "couldn't access any of that data." Once I sat down in the finance office, it was smooth sailing. Of course I was offered extended warranties, etc. but they didn't try to force anything on me at all.

Overall it was a good experience. Went way better than I thought it would. My only complaints are the amount of time I was there (that will be different for each person), and that they put a Raceway Kia logo on the back of the vehicle which looks like an eyesore. That's my fault though, because I forgot to tell them not to do that. I'll look into getting it removed at some point.

For those of you that had your orders canceled - that really sucks and I'm sorry. I'd be pretty angry/upset. If you are dead set on getting a Telluride and don't mind starting over again, check with Bergey's Kia in Lansdale, PA. I confirmed with them last week that they are still selling at MSRP. Their wait list was ~ 30 people at the time and I was quoted 6-8 months wait time. They are not as high volume as Murray/Raceway so the wait times may vary. Ask for Madeline.

Great news and congrats on your new telly. I have one coming in at the end of the month. Are they still charging extra for outside financing? I also have a trade in available. How was that process?

Can confirm, everything went as I would have expected it to had ownership not changed. I actually spent quite a bit longer there, closer to 5 hours, mostly because there's one finance guy and people in front of me were buying a car and buying out a lease at the same time. There seemed to be issues with their paperwork as well that made things take even longer.

I had financing lined up ahead of time but I was prepared to take theirs if it was decent. They showed me an estimated payment at the beginning that would have represented around a 6-7% rate based on the amount I was financing. I was very confused and had a change of heart and wanted to go with my own financing. The old policy and the one I was initially told when I was there was that there would be a $1k upcharge to use outside financing. I was ok with that, but then Cory (sales manager I think?) spoke with me and to be honest I had trouble understanding what exactly he was getting at. To me, it sounded like he was saying they weren't going to accept outside financing no matter what. I don't know if that was the case for sure, but he told me what rate they had gotten me and although it was a bit higher than my bank, it wasn't bad and there was no way the estimated monthly payment that I was shown was correct.

Once I finally got in with the finance guy (who was great by the way), it only took like 30-45 min to finish the paperwork. My actual payment ended up being exactly what I had figured and the estimated one they showed me initially was for some reason $50/mo higher. I'm not sure why the estimate was so high, but I guess don't panic if that initial estimated payment seems off.

Overall, things went well. The raceway kia sticker is horrible though. Its red/black/white and has big checkered flags. It came right off though, didn't even have to use a hairdryer or anything. Peeled the sticker off (and each letter one by one...) and then used some cleaner to get the little bit of residue off.

I wish the best of luck for those dealing with the canceled orders.. I still think it's wrong and that their excuse is just blowing smoke.

I can't comment on the outside financing. I actually had outside financing lined up and was ready to play that card if I needed to, but I wanted to see what they came back with first. They wound up offering basically the same deal that my bank was, so I just went with them because otherwise I would have had to go through the hassle of leaving, going to my bank to get a check, etc.

The trade-in process was fine. I was getting rid of a 15+ year old car with 120k miles on it, so I wasn't really expecting much to begin with. They actually offered me more than I thought they would so I didn't try to fight them on it.

Kia America got back to me. See below:

Essentially washing their hands of this. It’s a problem with how the auto industry is structured in this country. Luckily they are honoring MSRP but I’m probably going to Tesla after this purchase so I don’t have to deal with sleazy dealerships from these other automakers.

Honestly, I'm just surprised they didn't cancel your order given that it wasn't picked up yet. I ordered the day after you and they told me I'm SOL. So I'm not quite sure what the cutoff is.
