• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... My suggestion is to read up on all “features” instructions you can (e.g. UVO, Smart Cruise Control, Auto start/idle stop and go)

It can be challenging reading reference material without your KT to try, but al least you’ll be aware of them when your KT arrives.

One thing to “avoid” is pulling your wipers up if they’re not in service mode.

Keep your hands on the steering wheel, don't fall asleep and let the KIAT drive you!

I watched a lot of videos about the Telly features before I got mine. And then I still knew hardly any of them! Lol.

Below is a manual of its features (not the full owners manual), in case that's useful.

Despite all my prep, it took me awhile to get to know all the features. I basically just drove it around not using much of anything for awhile. For example, I had no idea it had ISP or even that it was engaging for a week or two, until I had my window down one day and heard the engine start up after a red light!

Honestly, I would just spend time up front on the basics of safety: getting your seat and mirrors adjusted and saving it in the save function. Bluetoothing your phone and knowing what the buttons on the steering wheel do. Understanding how to get different views on the cameras. Stuff like that. I definitely suggest checking your tire pressure (you can scroll through options on a button on the right side of the steering wheel), as the tires often come wrongly inflated.

The point about the wipers is a good one - find out about service mode.

Go slow, take it easy, and enjoy all the learning!

Thanx Tellmeride.......that's just what this tech-retard needs......"Let the Telly drive" !!
Husker....you hit my problem right between the eyes ......."pulling your wipers up if they’re not in service mode" ....I have no clue what any of that even means.........??? (No offense, it's not you, it's ME !) What does that mean ?

Number one rookie mistake, not understanding how the Rear Occupancy Alert works. Your car will sound the alarm if you lock the doors with the car off if you leave the windows cracked, have animals or kids in the rear, or leave stacked cargo. Turn off this feature in the instrument cluster menu of you plan to regularly have these parking scenarios.

Windshield wipers are tucked under the hood when not in use. So if you need to lift the wipers for an impending snow storm or to change the blades, turn off the engine and hold the wiper stalk in the mist position to raise them.

Don’t mistake your smart cruise control for an autonomous driving car.

Don’t touch the exhaust tip after driving your car.

If you need to load kids or cargo after remote starting, open drivers or front passengers door first to prevent premature shut off.

Don’t remove and re-insert the headrests backwards if you are installing child seat anchors. (apparently this has been a problem for some owners)

Thanx YAH DEF for the attached manual of features.....condensed and VERY helpful !

So, what happens if you re-insert the headrests backwards ? Or just remove them ?

.... and most of all, don't forget to have fun and enjoy your new ride :) . All the tech stuff will make sense over time.

Don't forget to bring your wife into the car when you set things up, and be prepared to sit there in the driveway for about an hour exploring all of the options. It's a lot of stuff but it's also really amazing. It's incredible how many settings there are that make your ride extremely enjoyable. You'll have a blast with your Telluride. We're almost a year in and still tweaking. 😊

What are you getting EX, SX, or one of the other trims? I have the EX trim with the Premier package and Night fall edition.

The warning about the windshield wipers is on the inside of the left front top of the windshield. It explains how to clean/change the wiper.

The ISG button (Instant Start) is on the center console and has to be pushed each time you start the vehicle, if you don't want the vehicle to shut down at stop lights, etc. If you don't mind it shutting off (gas saving?), then just leave it alone.

The instrument cluster behind the steering wheel shows some of the features when they are on. If it is in a white color, then the feature is not active. Green color, it is.

The Lane Assist, when green is active, and helps you, gently, keep the car centered in its lane. It does not assist when your speed is less than 40 mph. And does not work on all roads.

When the cruise control is on, the green steering wheel lights up. If you use the cc, the vehicle will slow down when it approaches a car in front of you and then speed back up, accordingly.

When you have the light switch on auto, then the front parking lights (driving lights?) are on, but not the tail lights. Tail lights come on only when the headlights are on. The auto on (when your headlights come on after dark) also should work the hi and low beams automatically with approaching traffic.

The outside mirrors fold automatically only when you lock the doors.

I have the EX and it does Not have a front end closeness sensor.

Your key fob has a remote start on it. To use it, you have to push the door lock button, even if the doors are already locked, then within 4 seconds push the remote start button on the back of the key fob (a little red light flashes) and the car will start. It has an automatic shut off after about 10 minutes.

I normally drive using the comfort mode, but the circumstances will dictate if I decide to use the smart or snow mode.

These are some of the things that I use and, also some things others on here have mentioned.

I think every thing I have written is correct, but, don't just take my word, read it in the instruction or owners manual.

Otherwise, just drive the car normally. I love mine, as does my wife.

Yeah that owners manual is a great piece of literature although I will admit that when I started out I didn’t reference it enough. A lot of questions can be answered from the manual.

Remember to keep your arms and legs inside until the ride comes to a full and complete stop! Just kidding.

Like others have said. Set aside an hour, sit in the vehicle and go through all of the buttons and displays. When you have a question, break out that hefty manual and read up. Keep that manual handy. The other day I was driving in snow and needed to learn a few things about the snow and AWD lock modes. My wife had trouble locating the info in the manual, but when we did it helped clear up a few things quickly. By the way that information was under AWD operation.

Enjoy your new Telluride!

I just went out to the garage to look for the sticker on the windshield about the wiper blades. I have an EX-P but don't see the sticker.

It seems that maybe the stickers are being removed with the dealer prep. The owners manual discusses service mode for the wipers

Soooo, nobody will bring up the gas tank door lmao? Or was I the only slow one for not reading the manual before getting gas the first time 🤣🤦‍♀️? You have to press unlock one time on fob, to make sure driver door is unlocked. THEN press on the gas tank door to get it to open. If you don't, then your fingers will be freezing while you're trying to pry it open with something flat bc you think it was frozen shut in -10 degree weather like I did 😏🙄😒😂
