How can the dealer (Mike Kelley) attach my name onto VIN, if they are saying they don't have the VIN yet? Im so confused lol

Is there a way to tell on Failcat which vehicles are SOLD/ORDERED for a particular customer and which are for dealer inventory?

Also, there’s an SX on there for my dealer (matches to sticker on his website) with a date of 8/27/20, and I assume that’s the one I test drove it last week. How is it that the VIN is still there on Failcat? I’m under the impression they drop off after shipped from Kia, or is that incorrect?

Also, the one I was going to look at today sold last night. Its still on Failcat this morning. I assume it will soon disappear from Failcat.

I may order today but I want to understand EVERYTHING about that beforehand.

BUT my dealer says they have some coming Oct 5. I’ve not yet been able to get the salesman to tell me what those are.

I’ve scoured the forums and can’t find any details on how to use Failcat.

You can think of Failcat as simply a record of what each dealer is getting or has received. The VINs do not go away once sold.

Before it has a vin it has an internal number.. thats how we can tell what we are getting months away before they have a Vin number.. They simply assign that internal number which converts to a Vin number once built to your name

This has been a whirlwind of a week. I was hoping to wake up Monday morning hearing great news. My 2nd ETA got moved from 10/10 to 9/20. So I waited Monday morning for my salesman to reach out. Crickets. I texted him and he said my Telly was not at the dealership and he does not have an ETA. Bummer. So I asked @StephenCantrelle and he gave me my 3rd ETA of 9/28. So I had to move my work schedule because I was planning to drive to Indy to pick up my Telly, yesterday. I was talking to my salesman yesterday because I was trying to get all the paperwork finalized since I am financing the car. He called later in the afternoon with a surprise. The Telluride arrived! I wish I could pick it up this weekend but I ordered accessories that were unfortunately not filled on my Telluride when it was being built and they are coming next week and still need to be installed. I guess I can wait another week... But the ETA game is like roulette. Hope other members get good luck instead the dreaded delay luck.

So, it would appear based on your posted order dates it’s taking 2-3 mo to get to the FC stage? I plan to place my order next month and was just wondering what to expect.

My sales guy says they have some arriving Oct 5 and is calling me today but I already know none are what I desire, thanks to FC. I expect to be placing my order very soon. May wait to see Kia incentives for Oct but not holding out much hope there. My dealership is selling at MSRP and giving $500 off on all new car purchases. I feel lucky

You should order now and not wait to see what the incentives will be. Incentives will only matter at the time your Telluride is delivered; not when the order is placed

Oh right! I should have remembered that!

With personal scheduling conflicts it will be early October before I’m able to order anyway.... then there’s this: if I order, say, in December, by the time it arrives I’ll have been able to save enough to put down and move up to the EX. Current budget only allows the S. Mulling that over. I am in no hurry. And this will be a 10+ yr car for me.

Thoughts anyone? (I can guess your answers!)
