Order to delivery time

I wish our Kia dealer provided this level of detail. Did they volunteer this, or did you have to pry it out of them? I wonder how easy it is for them to access that information and pass it on?

Our dealer has been great! I just asked how many orders he had in front of us and the next day he sent me all the info. Can't recommend them enough. Classic Kia in Waukegan, IL. Selling at MSRP. John Plewka is our salesman. Very easy to work with and super helpful throughout the process so far.

I'm pretty certain mine popped up there a few days ago. My last update from the dealer was he expects it to him in a couple of weeks.

I'm new to this, but I'm pretty sure it means since a VIN has been assigned that you've been added to the production schedule. You're no longer just an open order.

A VIN means that the build has started for that particular vehicle..

VIN was just created today. That was quicker than I expected, 5 days after order. Looks like they're building us a 2021.

Which I had seen this a week ago! We are in the city and have had suspect-at-best dealership experiences. Berwyn was the least difficult/dreadful so we ordered through them.

On the order form of your order (dealers send to customer after deposit) does the checked box (yes or no) for “Sold Order” mean anything? It seems like if “yes”, dealer requests new allocation for the same car that’s been sold. If true, does it speed up the process?

How soon does the VIN typically appear on fail cat? I placed my order about 6 weeks go but do not see match to my vehicle's spec for my dealer code.

Too may factors that you need are unknown. It could be a couple of weeks to many months. After placing your order it needs to be accepted into KFOS. Once that happens, your dealer will get an estimated date of delivery and it should show in in failcat about a month before that date. Read this thread from the beginning and you will get an idea of all of the variables involved.

Ok thanks, that makes sense. For some reason, I thought the last date column in failcat reflected the order place date but it is likely a date further down the road in the process (before production starts I guess).

Placed the order on 4/15. My dealer originally projected 3 months to delivery but said I just lucked out that an unclaimed build with my options hit the production line the following day.

Avoid SX trim then. Those have by far the longest wait right now.

So I emailed the GSM of my dealership today inquiring abt my 3/29 order w/ deposit and he responded with the following:

- Your order was placed in the system on April 4th. Yours is one of 3, that were placed on that day.

- There are a couple other types of ways to get cars, other than through our KIFOS system.

- If it would be switched over to a 22 model, then it would just happen automatically. It’s not something that would have to be cancelled and reordered.

- Prices of the 22 model have not been disclosed to us at this time.

Really doesn't give me information concerning acceptance, vin # and eta but at least I received some feedback- my salesperson hasn't been responsive.

Just placed an order at i25 Kia with Dominic. Process was really simple and they were incredibly helpful. I am getting it shipped from Colorado to NorCal. He said it could possibly come by end of June.

First dealership we spoke with was 8 to 12 month wait with no MSRP mark-up and we found another dealership with a $1999.00 mark-up with a 2-3 month. Needless to say we went with the 2nd...
Ordered 2/15/21 w/$500 deposit and picked up 4/7/21. I was surprised that we got it that fast!
