Order to delivery time

What does it mean if your order shows on failcat? I haven't heard anything from dealer, except that our order was filled 4/9/21. No official ETA or VIN.
Saturday 5/8 there was an exact match to our order on Failcat under our dealer. They've had around 20 orders post to failcat since we ordered, 4/1, and this is the 1st exact match and MSRP price quote we received to the cent. Is this likely ours? And if so, what's that mean as far as delivery time from failcat VIN?
Thanks!!
Ask Stephen to check that ViN In the "Track my Vehicle " thread

I agree. I won't feel a glimmer of hope until the order is actually placed. Until then I will stew in jealousy of those who have theirs.
Did you ask where you fall in the order line?

Ordered an EX Premium AWD today and was told we'll find out in the next week if the order will be picked up or kicked into 2022 builds. They stated that if picked up for 2021, we should expect it mid July.
I don't know if this has any bearing but the dealership I went to said orders placed now will be 2022 models. I did specifically state that I want a 2022 so perhaps that is why the dealership said that.

There are no more 2021 orders. If your order has not already been picked up and assigned an ETA, it will be a 2022 model.

Kia has not opened orders for the month of May yet due to the swap to 2022 models. We will likely see the 2022 info here in the next few weeks with orders opening up later in May for Tellurides only I would assume.

You're assuming every vehicle in production right now has already been assigned to an order. The majority of them have but there are likely a few unicorns that could get assigned to a dealer with a matching order. Nothing's certain until failcat starts showing 2022 VINs.

While it may be true that there is certainly 2021 models currently in production not assigned to a specific customer, that’s not what I was saying.

What I was actually saying was that if a dealer’s new order, regardless if that is for a specific person, or going on the lot, has not already been picked up by Kia and assigned an ETA it will absolutely be a 2022 model. They are not taking any more orders at all for 2021 models.

Just a thought. Will all 2021 vehicles be manufactured before the 2022 models come out. It seems odd that the two years will be produced at the same time or would lagging 2021 orders be changed to 2022 models.
Perhaps this will be an incentive for Kia to take care of old business at least I am hoping so.
Although it would be nice to have a 2022 instead in reality it doesn’t matter too much for us as this should be our last vehicle. Mom is 97 and has the car that she bought in 2000,
-seems like the best strategy to me.

I ordered right before you on 4/5 and the same thing happened to me, only to find out that exact match was NOT my vehicle.

Hmmm... thanks!
Someone suggested having Stephen C. track for me, the VIN has my initials attached, but still unsure as my dealer has not said a single thing... who knows!! Hope you get yours soon too!!

They will not be producing two MYs at the same time. When MY2021s are done, they will retool the plant for MY2022 changes. The last round of allotments for MY2021 were in as of April, so Kia can plan around the end of MY2021 manufacturing and when to transition to MY2022.

Cody @ Finnin called today and said I’ll be getting a 2022 which is why they weren’t sure why they didn’t have an earlier update on mine and called to inquire. Ordered mine on 3/29.

Ordered mine on 4/26 and haven’t heard back from the Dealership yet. Others I’ve talked to said they’re ordering the 2022’s. Now when I ordered mine I was told it would be between 12 and 16 week. I was under the impression that I was orderingg a 2021, but in reading the above posts, which model year will they be calling me up to give me an eta? I ordered a 2021 Telluride SX Prestige NFE in Glacial White Pearl and Dune Brown interior. (I was told the higher ends arrive sooner.)

I ordered a S Snow White on 4/30 with no update as of yet. My question is how are some people getting 5-8 week delivery ETA’s but I got a 4-6 month ETA, does this have to do with dealer allotments? If they get 10 spots/month and have 30 orders #31 has to wait 4 months or so. Ehh??

Dealer allotments are a factor but I would think it also depends on manufacturing supply. Let’s say you ordered a Dune Brown interior but Kia is short on DB leather. They may push those orders to the back until they receive sufficient inventory.

It gets even more complicated, because if you are order #31 but you are S trim #4 you might see it sooner. There could also just happen to be a Telluride rolling through production with no claim on it yet and you could get matched with that available VIN if your dealer has an allotment open and it matches your options. I think in reality (especially with the 2022 switchover) dealers should be telling everyone 3-6 months just to be conservative. Some will win the lottery and get one earlier but not many.

Just got a text last night from my salesman that our Telluride arrived! That's about a week and a half ahead of the last ETA. I am scrambling to clean up our trade-in today and then will go take delivery tomorrow morning. So all in, a bit over 3 months from order to delivery.

Congrats! Make sure you check it over and do a thorough test drive before signing the papers.

You have the exact car I ordered! I have yet to see one in person, please post your initial impressions got a bunch of pictures.

Notified by our dealer that our Telluride arrived today, which was the ETA provided after it was accepted in KFOS. When we ordered it in February, we were told to expect at least 6 months before delivery but it arrived in less than 3 months. We are picking her up tomorrow. They sent photos....
