Order to delivery time

Awesome, congrats! Did yours include the prestige package? I didn't add that. Sounds like I'll need to call again...
Yes, mine was ordered with Prestige and Tow package.
 
Watching all the new VINS with the same options as you ordered pop up and not be the dealership you ordered from.......guess i'll just keep on waiting
 
Ordered SX-PNF Wolf Gray 5/5 from Cole Kia in Pocatello, ID. Was told 3-5 month eta, but could be longer or shorter due to uncertain times. Followed up 5/20 and was told "it has been ordered and is in queue to be filled".

Pumped and worried about how long it'll actually take at same time.

Wondering if people can start posting when they ordered and when they received their Kia (or at least the vin).

I ordered an sx prestige with tow on March 13. Nothing yet.

Many of the threads here have gotten hare to follow woth with the side conversations, it would be helpful to just keep this to dates for people’s reference.
Was your dealer able to submit their order to KIA in time for the 2021's or did they miss the window and need to wait for 2022 configurations, and pricing to arrive?

I ask this, because I learned A LOT during this ordering process. I worked in conjunction with KIA Corporate Customer Service out of Irvine, CA. So I could get some questions answered that seemed different dealer to dealer.

1. Just because you put an order in with a dealer does NOT mean they can order that with KIA right away. Every dealer gets a certain allotment of orders they can submit on any given month. A small dealer, maybe it's 2 vehicles a month. A large dealer, maybe it's 10? The dealer I choose, I was 38th in the queue!!! 38th! They were just able to get my order in roughly a week before the 2021 orders were cut off and ended (sometime in late May/early April?).

2. Thus, a dealer may not tell you up front if they got your order in or not. So I'd check to see if they did. And I'd check with KIA Customer Service to see if they can find that order with your name (some dealers do NOT include customer names linked to the orders), ordered or not with corporate? If not, they didn't make the cut.

3. There is also a certain order window of time per month. It's roughly a week long, but it's not the same days every month. Screwy, but KIA Corporate has some kind of system and it seems to work for them. So even if your Dealership CAN put in your order right away, because they have not used up their allotments and they have no Dealer waiting queue, if the window isn't until, say the end of the month, and you ordered at the beginning of the month, the order won't be submitted until the window opens up.

4. I ordered mine with the dealership February 15th. The dealer was able to get the order in late April/early May to KIA. KIA Corporate saw my order from the dealership and gave me an ETA of June 26th.

5. Fast Forward, and I checked again with KIA and the ETA came down to June 16th. I checked again and it was about to be scheduled for the train, and was to arrive at the dealership on June 11th!

Basically, a 4 month wait from ordering, getting that ordered submitted via the dealership into KIA and then being put into KIA's build queue, built and shipped.

KIA does seem to be slowing their builds out of Georgia. Some days it is only a few or zero. Then 400+. But it certainly is no longer the contstant daily build run of nearly 4xx each and every day save for Sunday. That is no longer happening. I can only summarize, KIA is working though the orders and is no longer building standard inventory builds it ships to the dealers, and once these orders are near complete, KIA will issue a Press Release with the new 2022 model configurations and prices and the factory will dive in building away.

Pricing is expected to climb once more, but no one knows if configuration will change, and if so, how? Typically, it isn't much. Maybe a moon-roof here or a HUD added to a different package, etc...

Taking a guess, I'm guessing the base model SX will come with a bench, and the captains chairs will be a package. Thus 3 out of the 4 models will have bench as a base configuration, with KIA able to upsell captains chairs in a package.

Personally, I would have LOVED the HUD to be an option somehow. Love HUDs. Mazda is very keen on offering their awesome HUD on many models and levels of trim as an option. Wish KIA would do this also...

An article that I just read mentioned that KIA had to shut their Georgia plant (again) for two days due to the computer chip shortage that is affecting many car manufacturers. Two lost days this month is not going to help their already backlogged production orders.

Murray KIA called today, and my Telly is available for pickup! Whoohoo!

By the way, HUD comes with the Prestige package. It’s one of the reasons (along with auto wipers, heated and cooled rear seats, and a few other goodies) that I splurged for the $2300 package. Not sure if it’s available on trims other than SX..

How did you all find out what spot you were in for your dealer? Did the dealership provide you the info when you asked? I send emails but get crickets in return.

I asked my salesperson. You want to ask how many of your build are in front of you. By build, I mean trim + drivetrain. For example, how many SX AWD in front of your order. Good luck!

My wait was 3 months which is not too bad. The hard part is not knowing up front whether it’s going to be closer to 2 months or 6. Lol

Been meaning to post this sooner but I contacted my salesman on 5/17 to get confirmation I would receiving a 2022 since my order was not accepted by April deadline.

He said "Funny I just about to text you! Good news! It was accepted this morning, I do not have an ETA yet but I should in the next couple of days!"

After reading all the comments on the threads about this process, I didnt believe him, My skepticism was based how could he expect an ETA without VIN info first- so as I was in process of asking him this-

He said "Actually I just refreshed my vehicle locator and yours popped up! Your ETA is 6/30/21. I don't have a VIN yet, but I do have an internal number"

I said thanks and moved on to contact @StephenCantrelle via email with this information. He did in fact confirm that dealerships have the ability to acquire an ETA without VIN as long as they have that internal number but he (Stephen) couldn't track status without having the VIN.

So long story short, it appears my 3/29 order made the 2021 cut. It's funny now I'm more anxious to get the VIN now over knowing I have a ETA listed. I'll keep ya posted on this.

Update: I received the VIN yesterday with an ETA of 6/28 now. Still so strange getting an ETA before the VIN but I'm happy nonetheless.
 
My Dealer has not received a VIN for any model Telluride in the past 9 days and my ETA was moved back 2 days from June 6th to June 8th ?
Mine has moved as well. Went from 6/4 now to 6/6.

I guess it varies by dealer. Mine is very communicative; all I had to do was ask. The only thing that wasn't clear if this #26 includes KFOS-accepted orders (like DJames) or just the ones in kdealer that are yet to be accepted.

That’s a good question and I’m not sure how that works. Either way, you can probably expect at least August-Sept for delivery. At least you have one in the pipeline, you could also get lucky if you find one on a lot. Sometimes people change their minds after the order is placed.

Update: I received the VIN yesterday with an ETA of 6/28 now. Still so strange getting an ETA before the VIN but I'm happy nonetheless.
Dang I ordered on the 26th of March and still have no eta. Sx-p ect.. wondering if I’ll get an ETA before VIN. Where you located?
